BlizzCon Day 1—and Wowhead Quest!
So I'm in my hotel room, packing my stuff up and heading down to the convention floor. I'm going to use this blog post to write down my random thoughts as we go on through the day, just in case some of you may be bored enough that they want to hear MY running commentary on their DirecTV broadcast. :P
Don't forget that for more immediate news and pictures—the kind I don't have to run up to the press room to publish—you can follow us on Twitter:
For those of you who are actually attending the convention, Wowhead has a quest for you!
If you manage to find one of us on the convention floor—you'll know us by our Wowhead T-shirts—then you get a card for a free month trial of
The updates will be coming after the break!
More BlizzCon Info!
Our sister site
has their own editorial coverage of Blizzcon going up this weekend, and they already have a few posts that are looking pretty awesome.
Specifically, the ones I wanted to bring your attention to were these:
Diablo 3 demo run-down
Fansite Summit recap
Photo gallery and goody bag contents
The full list of Blizzcon posts will automatically update as new ones are added, and can be found here:
Fansite Summit Recap!
So now that I've gotten to sit back down at my computer and actually do some typing, I'm going to elaborate a little on some of the thoughts I mentioned in the previous
, and on
. I wasn't made for
—I talk too much. :(
I'm also posting the (admittedly meager) gallery of photos I managed to take, though the majority of the time we were restricted from using cameras.
BlizzCon 2009 Fansite Summit!
So for those of you who don't know, this year (like last year) Blizzard is hosting an exclusive Community Summit for their official Fansites—like us. It's a pretty exclusive thing—only one representative from each site is allowed to attend, and this year it just happens to be me!
Now Blizzard is very particular about what we're allowed to show you and what we're not, but nonetheless I'll be putting on my journalism hat and taking pictures (where possible) with my terrible iPhone camera, and as I get the opportunity I'll be adding content to this blog post!
All of the coverage and updates will be after the break. In addition, don't forget to follow us on
, since we may be able to get information up there before I can reach a computer and get it up on this blog post.
There may (or may not?) be spoilers ahead!
BlizzCast #10 (Now with Contests!)
BlizzCast #10 is here, and to celebrate, Blizzard has a little contest to go along with it!
Continuing our behind-the-scenes look at Blizzard Entertainment games and developers, BlizzCast #10 features a Q&A session about World of Warcraft patch 3.2, Call of the Crusade. As players have begun exploring all of the new content available in this patch, you’ll get to hear the developers’ take on some of the highlights of the Argent Tournament, Crusaders’ Coliseum, and the Isle of Conquest. We’ll put all of the new action in and off the coast of Icecrown in perspective for you and even talk a bit about our thoughts on BlizzCon 2009 (coming August 21 and 22 to the Anaheim Convention Center).

Strategist: Northrend Beasts
Ha! Not Ulduar. Surprised, aren't you? You better not be...
Ulduar's Strategist was kind of a filler. Many of you had already done it, and a new patch was coming. However this new patch is here now, and it makes sense to start writing more
guides. You know, stuff people might actually get to use. Worry not, Ulduar won't be forgotten - just pushed down the list for a while.
So here I give you the first Strategist in Patch 3.2. The raid is Crusaders' Coliseum,
Trial of the Crusader
. The encounter:
Wowhead Weekly Review (Aug 9 - Aug 15)
Hey there, this is our twenty-third Wowhead Weekly Review!
Opinions presented in the Wowhead Weekly Review are not necessarily those of Wowhead.com or its staff members.
Patch 3.2: Call of the Crusade Review
So 3.2 is upon us, and the Argent Coliseum is live! There's been a lot of coverage leading up to the new patch, and a lot of coverage now that it's out, but I thought you guys could use a single rundown for everything—which means that you are about to get a full-blown review of the Call of the Crusade, and all its awesomeness!
First, let me just give you the link to the official patch notes, if you prefer to read them there - and then we move on to the review!
We're going to lay this out for you: for every section, we'll have the patch notes first (click the title to see them), and then the reviews of that section of the patch notes. Then the patch notes for the next section, and so on and so on...
New Expansion Info on MMO-Champion!
has just posted an announcement with all of the currently known information about the upcoming expansion:
World of Warcraft - Cataclysm!
considered speculation, as it has not been officially confirmed by Blizzard, but Boubouille at MMO-Champion doesn't usually post something unless he's pretty sure and so far he's rarely been wrong. Some of the recently-gathered information includes: the new
(you'll be surprised!), as well as new

User Survey: Win a Free Trial of Premium!
Interested in a free one-month trial of the Wowhead
Wowhead, along with the rest of ZAM, has a survey up on SurveyMonkey right now, asking simple demographic questions. We're using it to give to advertisers, so they can run advertisements on the site that are for things that you might, you know, actually want to
—ie, no more "Shoot the Duck". So if you're interested in giving Premium a trial run, or if you just want the ads on Wowhead to get better, go take our survey!
Edit: We're all out of trial codes! Thanks to everyone who took the survey. :)
This is a one-month free trial of the ZAM Premium Service, which includes Premium access to
MMOUI / Wowinterface
Since it's a free trial code, it doesn't have any effect on users who are already Premium (though we would love to have you fill out the survey anyway).
Trial codes can only be used once per account.
Argent Tournament Guide v2.0 (or 3.2?)
This guide is a continuation of the old
Argent Tournament Guide
Secrets of Ulduar
brought us quite an event - quests, daily quests, unique rewards, Seals system...and now the
Call of the Crusade
expands that. Most of the 3.2 content requires you to have obtained the title Crusader through
, while the others only need you to be Exalted with either

The Return of Onyxia—Patch 3.2.2
will be making her return in Patch 3.2.2, scheduled to be released in honor of World of Warcraft's fifth anniversary!
To give you a basic rundown, Blizzard's plans are
into a level 80 raid, with both 10 and 25 man modes.
Changing the current loot to par with its level 60 version to a level 80 version. Presumably, there will be a loot table for both 10 and 25 man modes.
Adding a flying mount with 310% flying speed named
to the loot table. Modeled after Onyxia itself, the mount is expected to have a low drop rate.
Changing to the level of difficulty so that it scales from its difficulty at level 60 to level 80. This means those who enjoyed Onyxia's challenge should not see a change in difficulty—essentially, it just scales up to level 80!
But that's not all! Once the fifth anniversary of WoW begins, players who log on during this time will receive a limited edition pet named , similar to how players who logged on during the fourth anniversary received a
