Artifact Challenge Overview
Introduced in Patch 7.2, the Broken Shore allows regions to build buildings that confer various bonuses. One of which, the Mage Tower, offers a quest that allows you to wrap up the story that began in the patch, which increased the power of your artifact weapon and unlocked new traits within it.

, it's a good idea to get above 915 equipped iLvL, as the high intellect and health will make the scenario smoother to handle, its also reccomended to have at least 60+ traits, which isn't too difficult with todays Artifact Knowledge.
Trinkets
For this Artifact Challenge, you'll want throughput trinkets, particularly stat sticks. Pretty well any trinket will do however, especially trinkets from the Antorus the Burning throne or Tomb of Sargeras raids.

Artifact Challenge Strategy
Stage One: The Landing
In this stage, you'll be grouped with

, who will be added to any raid frames available for you to track healing on. Enemies will come to prevent your entering Black Rook Hold, coming in waves. For this stage help out with damage where you can, particularly to dispatch

Wave 1: One

Stage Two: Searching for the Rook
Rest phase. You can let cooldowns come back up, drink for mana, or anything else that you need to do to prepare for the next part of the challenge.
Stage Three: Desperate Times
This part of the challenge is timed, with both damage and healing parts to it. After your allies are whisked away, you will be given 5 minutes to ascend the stairs and free them, with demons along the way.
In the room you’re in will be six
闪烁之眼
s, which will explode when killed, dealing a sizable amount of damage to yourself. Take them out one at a time, healing up in between each add. Don't rush yourself and die for no reason here.
The gate leading out will open, revealing a couple

s, three

s, and a

. Kill a
魔蝠幼崽
with

, and focus down the other two when they’re in melee, saving the

for last. Any damage on

After dealing with that group, open up the gate to find 4 friendly NPCs (a
恐慌的幽灵
and three
残魂
s).

before you yourself are feared through
煽动恐慌
, and heal the three
残魂
. You can safely use
作茧缚命
on one to shield them from the fire damage, as well as apply an amplified
复苏之雾

氤氲之雾
to them, while using

氤氲之雾
s on the other
残魂
and healing them to full. If the
残魂
’ health hit zero, they turn into an enemy that casts

, slowing down this part of the stage considerably.
These NPCs will not be added to party frames, meaning you’ll have to manually target them in order to heal them.
Once these four NPCs have been healed, there’s a

at the top, near the gate leading to the rest of the stairway. This time, you have to kill them yourself. Handle them the same way you did in Stage One, using

during

. If

is not available, you can use one of the healed

Do note that the

can target the

s you healed up and, if they are brought to zero health, can become another enemy to fight, almost guaranteeing a wipe.
After unlocking the next gate, the stairway is covered with

. Thankfully we can angle

all the way up the hallway, making this brief part of Stage Three trivial.
After another locked gate is a

s. Take out the

first, watching out for the

s’ movement to be out of their AoE effect.
Stage Four: What Lies Ahead
You will be given another break to let cooldowns reset and to drink mana. Feel free to wait for lust if you feel you need it as well any other cooldowns.
Stage Five: Erdris and the Risen
At this point, your allies will attack one another, while

summons spirits that you must heal you need to heal eight of them any you don't heal will turn into the adds from Stage one and you will deal with them before continueing.
Set one:
The add to your immediate right is always the first one to leave the gate and enter Line of Sight, keep healing your party untill he is targetable. As soon as he is you can pop

. Throw up an

and a couple
to top him, move on to the other two with the same idea. With a reasonably high item level these are quite easy to top off.
Set Two:
On the second set i reccomend using

when they all enter Line of Sight, helping to stabilize your party and get their health up. Follow the same strategy of

until all three are topped.
Set Three:
For the third set if you didn't miss any you only need to focus on two adds, Feel free to use

at any point on one of your allys if they get low, or to top off one of the ghosts really quick if necessary.
Stage Six: Rise, Soldiers!
Some dialogue between your allies and
艾德里斯·索恩领主
will happen, during which you are free to drink for mana, after which any enemies (which can be any from Stage One) that made it through your healing will be summoned and have to be killed.
Final Stage: A Thorn in the Side
As soon as this phase begins position against the wall as you will need to maximize your space in the room. This fight is very much like
夜之魇
in

. You will be marked by a debuff (
燃魂
) that will deal damage to your allies based on how much health you have remaining. Use the fire patches that are dropped under you when

leaps to whittle your own health down for the debuff. Depending on your item level you may need to get your health really low as your allies will have far less health than you do. The NPCs cannot be damaged by the fire on the ground, and the only other damage

does is not significant, mainly just to

Make sure to overlap the fire in order to save as much space for yourself as possible. Keep your allies topped off, make sure you don’t die and try to help with damage where you can, and if you made it this far you should be close or already have your appearance in which case congrats!

I completed this at 901 ilvl with 40 traits. I also skipped stage 6 entirely which is possible but perhaps not advisable since it removes your opportunity to drink.

I would recommend serpent statue over the crane and diffuse magic is in my opinion slightly better utility.

Ive done basicly all challenges and this is by far the one i had the worst time with.
It has an INSANE rng-roll on the mobs damage and your very "teams" damage might be #$%^ or insane, depending on what they feel like doing (99.9% of the time they prefer to switch targets and leave everyone with 5% health just to kill them off all at the same time in p1). So i Suggest doing some damage of your own when they do *!@#e dps.
The final phase is a cluster@#$% or randomness and the boss has no real pattern when to jump and deal stupid damage when you're trying to be low on health (This is where good gear screws you over. because that mofo deals % damage and isnt really that hard)
On top of really poor design, overall unenjoyable, luck-based and ugly challenge i rate this as an achivment not worth doing (An devastating 1/10). When i had it done i felt scammed. Like i didnt care wether i had it or not, because the final attempt was extremly lucky and they decided to do good dps in p1 and no dps on p5 (where they hit each other).
Blizz, srsly. nerf this $%^& or remove it. Its just not fun for anyone

I completed this challenge some time ago, but some things that helped me push past the horrid stage one more consistently that I generally don't see mentioned in guides:

has a knockback effect on anything that hits you with a melee strike, which can give you a bit of a reprieve from the Soldier's

can also help lessen the damage from

if you channel
on yourself. This will also give your allies free DPS time if there are no other mobs active.
And some tips for the later stages:
- It may be a good idea to allow one spirit to reach the boss during stage five, specifically so that you will have time to drink before going into the last stage. If stage five is done perfectly stage six is skipped entirely.
- While
迅如猛虎
is helpful for kiting in stage one, I found I could do that just fine with
动如脱兔
and
魂体双分:转移
.
动如脱兔
was also extremely helpful in the final stage with ensuring that I always had a charge of
滚地翻
available to re-position myself quickly.

Try not to panic in last phase. As soon as the debuff explodes you have to move away to avoid the next leap and fire patch, and then heal up the group and yourself. Also, don't release if you die, with a little bit of luck your npcs allies can kill him.

Just got mine. ilvl 938, about 5000k health, overgeared I know, which could actually hinder you more than helping you in the last phase, consider you need to drop your health quickly right after the first curse hits.
Tips:
1) Staying near the fence of the room, facing OUTWARD, that way you get the maximum visage of the battlefield. You can target your teammates via raid interface even if they are off screen.
2) Stay near the fire patch to be ready to get hurt, maintain Renewing Mist on you just in case. At my gear level, any direct heal can bring me over half health, and hurt my teammates a LOT.
3) Lightning the boss whenever you can. If you are about to die, casts Life Cacoon on your tank, because if the boss dies while you're down you still get the completion, and his focus is always on the tank.
4) My Talent: Chi Burst, Torpedo, Mist Wrap, Leg Sweep, Healing Elixir, Statue, and Focused Thunder. I think Celerity is better for the last phase, allow you to move quickly and frequently away after the boss leaps onto you.

Just completed at ilvl 951. As others have mentioned, being overgeared makes stages 1-6 a lot easier, but comes back to bite you hard in the final stage. Brief advice below:
Stage 1: At a high enough ilvl, this becomes fairly easy. All previous advice you've read elsewhere still applies, but honestly, the only thing that will really screw you over is getting hit with a mana sting. Prioritize interrupting and avoiding mana sting, you can heal your way through everything else if you really have to.
Stage 5: I still struggled here as I'm overly reliant on healbot and not very well practiced at targeted healing. The good news is, you don't have to be perfect. You can allow up to 3 souls to get through and you'll be fine, as you were in Stage 1. You can clear one phase of souls with a revival and a couple vivify. A thunder focus tea and two insta-enveloping mists plus vivify spam works fairly well also. But don't be overly reliant on enveloping mist, as it's a HoT and you don't have much time to work with here.
Stage 7: I used the positioning recommended by Cyberium - stay at the edge of the battlefield, face out. This stage is all about managing your own health. The fire hits hard and your own heals heal hard, so it's very tricky. Ideally, you want to try and maintain around 1-2M health. At my ilvl, I started with about 5.5M, compared to my party all being about 3.5M. Basically, if you're over 50% health when ignite soul goes off, it's a wipe. And if you die, it's a wipe. Don't use enveloping mist on yourself here. I tried to rely as much as possible on renewing mist and running in and out of the fire to add and remove health as needed. You can't completely ignore your party either - especially Jarod. Keep renewing mist on them, with the occasional vivify (or enveloping mist for Jarod) as needed. A well timed roll can get you out of the fire quickly if you're about to die. You can pop a cocoon on yourself as well if you're about to die, but get back in the fire quickly because you need to get that health back down before the next ignite. It's challenging and annoying, but definitely doable - I got it down on maybe my 6th try. Good luck!

I recently rejoined and I severely out-geared this challenge which was fine until the last part. My best advice is use this macro (or something similar) for the final fight:

/cancelaura Enveloping Mist
I also cancelled my Jade Serpent Statue during it -- since you'd rather die than damage your NPCs too much -- as you get credit if they kill him without you. I wiped myself out at like 15% and my NPCs soloed him just fine; they had 50% HP left when they won. So as long as you keep your cool for most of it, you should be golden. But that macro saved my fluff. Use it. I restarted twice because I didn't have it and accidentally screwed myself with a ReM tick.
If you're like me and don't have great legendaries or optimal gear choices for this challenge, for the beginning parts I used Prydaz & Sephuz along with Ishkar's absorb trinket in case an NPC or myself got focused too wombo-combo-y, and I had a secondary set for the later phase(s) with throughput trinkets and Ei'thas boots with Insignia of the Grand Army (like I said, my choices were limited).

Just completed this at ilvl 932, 72 traits. Since the comments here helped me out so much with this challenge, I thought I'd give my input, then share my thoughts on this challenge.
Being over geared makes this entire challenge seem easier (more on that in a moment), but it makes the last phase somewhat tricky. My tip for the last phase is to do it as you normally would, putting the pools on the outside and as close as possible, then moving inward. However, in order to manage your health, I found topping myself off and leaving a renewing mist and a soothing mist on me while stepping in and out of the pools was a pretty easy way of getting my health low but stable enough for the bomb to go off. I also want to say that if your team is topped off (or even at 50%) and you die with the boss at ~4% hp,
DO NOT RELEASE.
I actually completed the run after I died with Jared surviving with a sliver of health.
For talents, I agree with what everyone else is saying. Jade Serpent works like a charm here. I took healing elixir instead of Dampen Harm, though. It is actually extremely useful during the timed phase and during phase 1, especially if you're prone to making mistakes during either of those phases. I wouldn't shy away from taking it!
As for my thoughts on this challenge: they are completely mixed. While I appreciate blizzard giving us healers a proper challenge, setting us up with arguably the worst 3 man group we've ever seen in our lives, I also think there is a bit of an unfair element to it for us as mistweaver monks in particular. As Mistweavers, we lack CC capabilities, having only an incap and a stun (the stun only being there if we talent in). Other classes, on the other hand, have slows, roots, stuns, and even interrupts. With this being said, without having high item level and sheer numbers working to our advantage, this entire experience feels extremely stressful and chaotic, during phase one *
especially
*, due to the fact that during these hectic situations, we feel limited to our options, because we only have two buttons to work with and cool downs to keep track of in both cases. Regardless of my opinion on this, I *
HIGHLY
* recommend anyone who wishes to improve their skills when it comes to playing mistweaver, or playing a healer in general, to play this through, even at ilvl 900. Just getting past phase one will show you the importance of every single spell in your spellbook, and will make you think about how you can be using it in the future.

The first intermission (Phase 2) has no time limit as far as I can tell. This means you can pop drums in Phase 1 and let the sated effect cool off completely.

With the mage tower now being permanently up I expect a lot of people going for the skins now. I cleared the mistweaver one today and most of the tips here are golden.
I went with the crane though because I have minimal experience with mistweaver so I never really used the mist thingy efficiently, make the statue pretty weak. Only thing that the mist was really good for in my experience is tanking the guys that fixate on you.
However something else that helped me greatly is using 1 tanking trinket. Ishkar's felshield emiter from the high command boss in Antorus. When things fixate you are you and several allies get severely damaged you can pop this trinket which functions as a massive barrier on you allowing you to focus your allies a bit. Second trinket was the AoE heal trinket from garothi, that thing functions as a soft reset being able to heal nearly all party members to full or 1 or even 2 of the spirits at the later stage. Some of them spawn close together as they float to the boss, toss it on 1 of those and bam, both get massive heals. A single effuse should be enough to top both of those off.
For the final bit, just slowly rotate arround the edges of the room, heal where needed and keep using jade lightning on the boss. Felshield emitter is again great here, allows you to drop low and pop that thing. If the boss charges and slams you he won't break the shield which saved my ass bigtime.

Edit: I noticed Ishkar's Felshield is actually labeled as a healing trinket since you can apply the shield to an ally. However I never macro'd it to target myself and whenever I used it, it always popped on myself. Even with Jared targetted. So no idea whats going on there, just assumed it was a tanking trinket due to the fact it gave me a bubble all the time. An effect we have seen on tanking trinkets many a times.
