Reference to I, Robot by Isaac Asimov.

Besides the book, it is also a reference to TBC Netherstorm quest of the same name which had you fight a hostile robot named Negatron. I believe that the mystery of its origin (that no one cared about) is finally resolved.

Reference, as stated by others before me, to "I, Robot" by Isaac Asimov.

Interesting to note, this mission text says : "A true emotional bond between lifeform and machine can happen". Upon completition, you receive an item, the Grease Monkey Guide, that you can use to one of your followers to create this "emotional bond".

In Asimov literature, however, the idea of an emotional bond is somewhat hard to realize, and often the author tend, implicitly or explicitly, to affirm that this bond is impossible. That's why we find the 3 laws of robotics: the relationship between robots and human will never be free in Asimov universe.
