Flask of th North
2.0 ... sort of ,..
评论来自

This will be the cata equivalent of the
北地合剂
both items give a much lower stat increase but do not run out thus allowing the alchemist to remained flasked at all times even for things like 5 man pugs or BGs where most players would not use a flask do to how expensive they are. basically its an alchemist only item used to buff our selves outside of raids without having to keep grinding mats for elixirs and flasks and thus giving us a slight edge much like enchantings ring enchants.

This is the Alchmists way to gain bonus stats. it's our personal ring/Wrist/etc enchant. best of all, it's a one time creation instead of re-applying on gear. ONE-time cost, no more, no less.
Note: It may be one time creation, but at the price of 1 bag slot. Simple

If you're like me when it came to
Flask of the North
you were refreshing the cooldown all the time with your self buffs. Thing about this Flask is it always gives the: "A more powerful spell is already active" warning. I use this macro to get around that:
#showtooltip Flask of Enhancement
/cancelaura Enhanced Intellect
/use Flask of Enhancement
Just simply replace Intellect with whatever stat your flask gives and you'll be able to reuse this flask whenever without the more powerful spell warning.
Edit: This was fixed in 4.0.6 The flask duration will now reset when reused, no need to cancelaura anymore.

For the record, when you hit 500 Alchemy making this will give you 5 skill-ups. So will your new Alchemist's Stone.
BUT
the problem is if you make the Stone first, this will no longer give you 5 skill-ups; making this first will give you 5, then the stone after will still give you 5.
So
make sure you create this first!
Otherwise you'll not only miss out on 5 easy skill-ups, you'll waste a lot more money on mats. :(

Thank you rmk1999 that macro is vary helpful just wanted to add you can macro
/cancelaura Enhanced Agility
/cancelaura Enhanced Intellect
/cancelaura Enhanced Strength
All in one macro so you can keep you buff (Mark of the Wild mine) and your flask on the same macro and timer even on different specs.

Does any of you thinks this item is a scam? I mean... LW has damn 130 agi/str/int enchant, JC has special powerful gems etc and they can still use flasks/pots (i am a druid and i like to buff my mastery with a potion) but for alchemist's this is our only way to get buff from our profession without drinking expensive flasks and it doesnt stack with any other elixirts that all other professions can use. Its just stupid!

In short, you use this Flask when not using any other Flask that will benefit from
Mixology
. This could be when you're in arenas, or when you just don't feel like using a Flask. Between this Flask and
Mixology
, you get the same or similar basic self-bonuses that many of the other professions give you.
Take, for example, a blacksmith, who gets to add two additional sockets to his/her gear. Say the blacksmith is a dps warrior who values Strength above all else, and therefore wants to put in +strength gems. Right now, the highest non-Jewelcrafter-only gem available in the game is the
Bold Inferno Ruby
, which adds 40 strength. Since the blacksmith can add two sockets to his/her gear (gloves and wrists), that equates to an extra 80 strength if they use two of these gems.
This is the same +80 strength that you would get from this Flask, assuming strength were your #1 stat.
But what happens if you use another flask, say, the
Flask of Titanic Strength
? Well, it will overwrite the buff from this Flask for starters, so you "lose" the 80 strength from this one. However, due to
Mixology
, you will actually get MORE than the 300 strength that you are supposed to get. jhart481 on 12/16/2010 posted that "Currently in live cata the mixology bonuses are +80 for the flask's stat". In other words, when you use a
Flask of Titanic Strength
, you will get a bonus of 80 strength on top of the 300 it is supposed to give - though if you read all the comments more fully, you'll see that the buff's tooltip doesn't actually display it correctly, you need to look at the actual number as displayed on your in-game paper doll.
If you run the numbers of all the different professions, you'll see that each profession right now gives you roughly 80 bonus stats however you look at it (except for stamina, which you get ~120). You see that in the example above, where an alchemist can use this Flask to gain 80 strength for day-to-day operations (and/or in the arena), and his/her
Mixology
will grant an extra 80 strength when using
Flask of Titanic Strength
(which, by the way, is NOT usable in arenas). If a jewelcrafter equipped 3 of his/her self-only strength gems, he/she would get 67*3 = 201 strength, or an increase of 81 strength
as compared to using non-jewelcrafter gems
.
The only notable exception right now is Leatherworking. Leatherworkers can add
130 agility
to their own bracers, but there is presently no Cataclysm agility enchant in the game.
This is supposed to change with patch 4.0.6
, when enchanters will be able to put 50 agility onto bracers - in effect, giving Leatherworkers the same +80 agility benefit of the other professions. The only other semi-notable exception that I can think of is resilience. Blacksmiths with their 2 extra sockets, and/or jewelcrafters with their self-only gems, can in theory stack more resilience on their gear than, say, an herbalist+inscriptionist could. That is to say, while the profession bonuses are not all interchangeable, there is a fair amount of overlap for the main stats. However, that is also not to say that Blizzard won't add additional recipes for other professions at any time to further overlap the profession bonuses.

Very disappointed that tanks are yet again forced into subideal stats or have to chug real flasks for stamina, like it's predecessor.

Intellect version of this buff lasts 1 hour and agility 2 hours as of patch 4.0.6 launch day. Propably bug.
And you are now able to drink it again even if you have old shorter duration version of this same flask in your buffs.

This doesn't have a minimum character level, just a minimum alchemy level. It's very nice to hit 500 alchemy while still at character 75 for this.

I know that the strength and intellect does not last 2 hours like it says it should

Macro this into something you already re-cast all the time; it operates off global cooldown, so you can do both in the same second.
For example, here is a macro for priests.
#showtooltip Inner Fire
/cast Inner Fire
/use Flask of Enhancement
This will both cast Inner Fire (expending global cooldown) but also refresh your flask duration.
Use something similar like horn for dk, lightning/water shield for shaman, seal of X for paladin, etc.
Edit: Don't need to re-cast IF/IW all the time now (infinite duration) but still should make sense.

After I used this flask last night, I noticed it actually increased my Int by 84. Does this happen for everyone else? If so, does anyone know why?

So it's unaffected by Mixology but its base duration is 2h. Kind of a cheap way of buffing it, if you ask me...

Since patch 5.0.4 this has been renamed to
Alchemist's Flask

So with the replacement flask, apparently a Vanilla WoW Flask (
Alchemist's Flask
) what exactly are we losing? I only get 80 Intellect on my Moonkin now. I am thinking I got more with the old version (herein), I got a lot more than +80 to Int.
The thing that's driving me crazy is that this ID# herein has been altered so I don't even know what the old one was anymore.

I cant confirm what i'd heard from a pre-mop alchemist, because i didnt start alch till mop... but he said he was mailed back his old non-consumable flask. I'm wondering if they decided to put the older non-consumable flask back in the game as a non-arena useable item, with more stat than the arena useable alchemist's flask?
