I'm presuming that they've changed the mats for the bag since your post. There's no need for Volatile Fire to make this bag - you now need 15
Hypnotic Dust
per bag. They've also either changed the number of bolts required or the number of cloth per bolt.
This makes the raw mats for one bag:
- 75 Embersilk Cloth
- 15 Hypnotic Dust
Your 4 inventory bags:
- 300 Embersilk Cloth
- 60 Hypnotic Dust
Your 7 bank slots:
- 525 Embersilk Cloth
- 105 Hypnotic Dust
Total - bank and inventory:
- 825 Embersilk Cloth
- 165 Hypnotic Dust

Of course, there are a ton of 22 slot bags, some of them "free" - who doesn't have one from OS at this point? - so happily, it's unlikely you'd need quite so insane an amount of cloth and dust :)

There are six 22 slot bags in the game (before cata) and a lot of people (mains) will have maybe 3 - 4 of them. Over your bank and inventory you have 11 bag slots, then you have alts, bank alts, low levels or toons you haven't done OS or FoS on and unless you are super rich and/or a tailor most people will have used
Frostweave Bags
as their main bag.
A
lot
of these will be made and sold in the coming months, I know I need at least 50 of them and I already have a couple of
Portable Holes
and about four 22 slot bags already!

These bags will be the new
Frostweave Bag
and I'm sure they'll be in high demand in coming months. But first the AH insanity must calm down. Right now in my realm
Embersilk Cloth
is at least 8g if you can find enough, most times 12g-15g,
Hypnotic Dust
is at least 22g. so with the Above list:
75 Embersilk Cloth x 8g = 660g
15 Hypnotic Dust x 22g = 330g
Total for 1 Bag 990g
Abyssal Bags
sell for about 200g and getting all the mats they're still around 180g.
Glacial Bags
are often less than 200g, so for now, the older blue items are a better option.

i think this should of been a 24 slotter and the Illusionary Bag should have been a 26-28, the only reason anyone would make these would be to level tailoring

The problem is the materials needed to create the embersilk bag. 75 embersilk cloth and 15 hypnotic dust. Its insane. They should lower the mats down to 40 embersilk and 2 eternium thread.
<edit> As for glacial/abyssal bag... the mats are quite expensive nowadays. Shadow goes for 40g a pop on my server. To farm 8 eternal shadow + 4 eternal fire would take longer than to farm 75 embersilk + 15 hypnotic dust. But hell yeah, if you can find eternal shadow cheap.. go for it!

The best way to make these is to farm embersilk.
Then either farm enough to disenchant, such as making deathsilk gear, if you can. Deathsilk Belt
and Deathsilk Bracers
are the way to go as they sometimes disenchant with 4 dust. Also they require the least amount of embersilk
Or have an alt make green items for you to get dust from. The latter is better because you can save on embersilk cloth.

Cost comparison of Embersilk bag (22 slot).... (edited for patch 4.2.2)
75 Embersilk Cloth (2g each, 150g)
15 Hypnotic Dust (3g each, 45g)
Tip (50g)

... and Abyssal Bag (22 slot)
4 Eternal Fire (20g+ each, 80g)
8 Eternal Shadow (8-10g each, 80g)
60 Frostweave Cloth (2g each, 100g)
12 Infinite Dust (4g each, 48g)
1 Eternium Thread (2g)
Tip (50g)
=
350g~

This is why tailors should also be enchanters, or have an enchanter alt. (Actually two alts with JC/Alchemy/Tailoring/Enchanting is about as sweet as it gets, but that's another post). I'm swimming in dust. I make 20 of these a week just to keep the dust from piling up in my bags.

@Serf you save even more if you first skill tailoring to 384 and than make 2 bags. the difference should be 72 bolts to 16 if you do it before (=56 bolts of embersilk cloth= 280 embersilk cloth!)

Currently still the best bag in my opinion, being the most slots with still a decent cost (depending on server) because of the materials being fairly easy to get. I stocked up on cloth buying it from a supply at 35g a stack which equalled about 100g a bag and was selling them in mop for 500-1000g each. I got a supplier for 60g a stack which is about 250g a bag not quite as good but still a good way to make money. All I do is have my Postal add-on auto-open all mail cod to me whilst making them all into bolts, then I buy the dust and make them into bags and mail them to a bank to sell. I put up 12 every day (updating it so I'm always the lowest price) So if you hate farming you can semi-afk this method and make some decent money.

Personally, on my server, embersilk is still expensive going from 50g - 100g easily per stack.
Since you really only need these bags for endgame farming and collecting, and since while leveling you won't collect THAT much stuff you keep aside from the rare vanity raid loot etc, you can easily wait till level 87-90 before getting these crafted.
I farm my embersilk in the Stonecore, which yields around 50-55 cloth per run on my 90 Death Knight Tailor. I don't have enchanting, so I buy the dusts for roughly 20 - 25 gold or so, since I also get some BoE greens from the Stonecore DE'd for me.
Total cost to make a bag is 25 gold at most.
I can sell in the AH for 300-450 gold depending on whether or not there are any other generic bags that have 16 slots or more in the AH.
It does take me 20-30 minutes per run since I have crappy gear and I normally take a level 82-85 with me for the heck of it, but it takes me roughly one hour total to produce bag, plus I have spare cloths for a second bag.
The BEST part about this, is that every time I run it, I don't do heroic, so I can re-run again and again, and I have a chance for a mount drop :D
I got the mount twice this way, and the second time, my 84 friend paid me 4,500 gold for it, nice easy cash. (This friend was with me in the instance).
The junk/BoP greens+ I have, I either sell to my friend who's running with me, for prices of 50-150 gold, or I vendor it. So overall, the average I get is a good 50 cloth per run, plus 2 -5 BoE greens, depending on luck. Additionally, around 4 or so BoP blues, with trash junk. Trash + blues (if friend doesn't buy) go for a good 100 gold or so.
Overall, 100 gold, 50 cloth, 2-5 BoE greens, and a satisfied customer. (The dungeon run is only 10 gold, and they get a nice little xp gain) :D
Best thing is when I sell the cloths to tailors leveling instead of crafting bags. I sell the cloth to them for roughly 100 gold (1 gold per cloth), and then they craft the bag for me for free. Win win.

The most easiest way to gather the raw mats as Tailor. Go to
暮光高地
then go to the ridge west of Crushblow where groups of the Orgs fighting. They have not high health and with an aoe spell caster (like
光晕
) you can gather them up easy. Disenchant all the greenies. I got there multiple times 100
烬丝布卷
in a hour.
Hint: use
寻宝药水
and you can loot
小巧的财宝箱
inside the boxes you can find more cloth and greens !

Don't forget that the honor trade goods and justice trade goods still sell embersilk cloth and hypnotic dust.
For a total of 6500 honor / justice points, you have enough mats to make a bag.
