Considering that they refer the 200% HoT to the initial new value, which was reduced by 50% of the initial value of the initial spell, it means that the FoL will heal first for half of its initial value, and then give a Hot with the double of the initial value.
Let me show this situation better with numbers and some ranks of the Flash of Light spell:
Rank 1 (lvl 20):
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=19750
(heals 81 to 93)
Will heal for 40.5-46.5 and give a HoT of 162-186
Rank 7 (lvl 66):
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=27137
(heals 588 to 658)
Will heal for 294-329 and give a HoT of 1176-1316
Rank 9 (lvl 79):
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=48785
(heals 785 to 879)
Will heal for 392.5-439.5 and give a Hot of 1570-1758
Consider this as a HoT better than the priest's Renew (
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=48068
), equally good to the druid's Rejuvenation (
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=48441
) and weaker than the druid's Regrowth (
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=48443
), putting class strategies aside.
This is a good awnser to the paladin's pray for a Hot. Good for paladins who focus on Holy Light and Holy Shock, leaving Flash of Light as a HoT spell that is cast when needed.

Hope these glyphs are equippable and removable during fights. So we could use or best healing spell as heal and HoT at same time. Or if when it hits first FoL %50+HoT it becomes full heal untill HoT is over. (without macros)

Does anyone know what the coefficient will be for the HoT? Flash of Light will get 100% of your spell power. I'm wondering if the HoT receives the spellpower coefficient of the original FoL or is it increased due to the extended duration of the HoT. I haven't tested this on the PTR or in Beta, but 200% of the initial effect seems like it's 2x the initial effect (making the HoT equal to a regular FoL over 15 sec).
example:
what is 90% of 1000? - 900
what is 100% of 1000? - 1000
what is 200% of 1000? - 2000
Say FoL heals for 2,000 normally. With the glyph you'd heal for 1,000 and have a HoT for 2,000 right? That's if the spell power coefficient is the same as FoL, but it could potentially be much more?

It seems to me, that this talent will be amazing with Beacon in Bg's and arena.
One could cast Beacon on yourself, and put the FoL HoT on as many people as you can. So you could get a pretty large amount of healing directed onto yourself, while healing your teammates or allies in BG's

Alterered to "Your Flash of Light heals for 50% less initially, but also heals for 140% of its inital effect over 15 sec".
0,5 + (0,5*1,4) => 120% (or 20% more healing than from a regular FoL, if you will)
100/140 * 15seconds = 10,7 seconds need to pass, before throwing a new FoL, otherwise, the glyph would provide less healing to a target, than without it!
I'm still not sure whether or not to take it. If there's AoE damage, it's a wicked glyph. If not...Hmm...
Consider a scenario, where it's only the main tank, who's taking damage. What would be the best healing sequence to utilize? If only we could utilize a FoL with and without this glyph at the same time... /sigh

My average FoL heal is 1950, so;
1950/50%= 975 Inital heal
1950*140%=2730
2730+975 = 3705 Healing over 12 Secs for 226 Mana
Considering a fight where the MT is taking 10k damage over those 12 seconds, here are my choices with the Glyph.
FoL with the Glyph - Heals 975 initally and starts to tick for 308.75 a second - 226 Mana = 3705 total healed over those 12 sec.
If I throw a holy shock in for 2.2k on avg heal for 524 mana, I've spent 750 mana and still have 4095 to heal for.
My Holy Shock is on CD so my only other choice is another FoL for 226 Mana, a small initial heal, and a mana inefficient HoT overwrite or HL for 939 mana. So I cast HL for 5.4k on avg heal for 939 mana. Now I've spent 1689 mana to top off the tank for those 12 seconds. Even if I crit HL for 8.5k with the Illumination refund I've spent 1126 mana. But this is not reliable.
If I wait for my HS to cooldown instead of casting HL, I'll have spent 1274 mana and still have 1895 left to heal. So another FoL for 226 mana. Totalling 1500 mana to heal 10k damage over those 12 seconds.
Taking the Glyph out:
10k damage over 12 seconds;
5 casts of FoL will heal 9750, with a 20% crit rate, one of those would have crit for at least 2.8k making the total amount healed 12550 and only cost me 1130 mana.
This is very crude and ugly math and the without very reliable variables to plug in, but is representative of my experience with this Glyph. I've found myself running out of mana more often with this Glyph because of average spike damage taken by the tank or other party members.Even with BL up, this Glyph didn't seem to keep up with damage the tank took to make this Glyph mana effcient.

I don't care about the HoT unless it will provide more healing in the long run... As it is now, I'll probably stay clear of this glyph.
Then you sir aren't a very smart paladin. If you've done any testing on PTR or Beta you would realize that Holy Shock and Holy Light are the primary spells whereas Flash of Light has become less useful. This glyph makes it much more powerful and if you can't see that, you probably should reroll.

I'm still not sold on Beacon of Light. It's really far down in the holy tree.
...and this is a problem for a healadin how? I'm almost pure Holy (with 5 Prot to get 10% GBoK, and 5 Ret to get Benediction), picked up BoL, and it allows me to raid heal and MT-heal simultaneously.

I tries really hard to get the most out of this Glyph but its HoT component is more of a burden than anything.
The problem is that Flash of Light is a Paladin's most mana efficient heal, which is why I spam it constantly. The Glyph actually deterred me from doing so because I wanted the HoT to take its course. However, in doing so, I found myself having to use Holy Light and Holy Shock more often to compensate for the fewer Flashes of Light, which in turn is a burden on my mana pool.
I could just continue spamming Flash of Light but what I'd essentially be doing is paying the same mana cost for half as much healing.
The Glyph has some potential if you're off-healing for a group or raid (and maybe when questing alone), but the fact that you can't toggle the Glyph effect on and off makes it a very iffy choice. This is further complicated by other Glyphs that far surpass it in utility such as the ones mentioned in Mantriel's post above mine.
In all honesty, it's probably best to skip out on Glyph of Flash of Light. While the HoT effect is nice on paper, it's too situational in practice for it to be truly worth keeping.

This Glyph gimp any healadin out there. I can spam FoL and keep a tank up in any instance and most off tanks in raids. This would be awesome if you were looking to be raid healer but thats it. I prefer to MT heal and this would devistate him because you looking at a boss getting a burst dmg not DoT on my most tanks so while in the end you might heal more than extra heal dmg wont help if the tank is dead.

As a healadin, I absolutely love this glyph. Mana is NOT an issue for me anymore, so while I understand it's not as mana effecient as just spamming flash because you need to throw in a holy shock and holy light now (wow what a concept we need to have three healing buttons instead of one) it's an overall healing increase.
The beacon of light spec is just iceing on the cake.

This is a staple of a Holy light healing build at 80. If you're still doing a flash build, this will be a miserable glyph.
But with tanks breaking 40k* and Holy light at 1.6 seconds**, a holy light based healing build can be very lucrative. For such a build, you use glyphed flash as a hot and little else.
*There are a couple of high end druids breaking 50k raid buffed already. Neither of these numbers are with Last Stand/Survival Instincts active.
**Subsequent casts with 0 haste gear, Judgements of the Pure, Light's Grace, and Wrath of Air totem. 5% haste from gear would get it to 1.5.

Not really worth buying this in my opinion because when im using flash of light im spamming it until that player gets to full health. Im a pvp holy pally so when im spamming it they need to get up fast and the 50% less isnt going to help

** Check your source-- Updated PTR notes for 3.0.8 mention no such glyph alteration **
In order to understand the usefulness of this glyph, you must first also understand the mechanics of Beacon of light and actual "per-tick" amount of the HoT.
First off, this glyph is obviously intended to help the once "Best single target healer" become an effective party/raid healer. As with the addition of Beacon of light, which helps keep the tank alive while healing the group, this glyph helps keep the raid members up while healing other single targets including the tank.
Raid Scenario (AOE Boss)
Beacon of Light => Tank
Glyph of Flash of Light => FoL cast on raid members (even if they havent taken the aoe damage yet)
--Every time a party member takes enough damage to be healed by the HoT, the tank will be healed equally.
--The average per-tick of this glyph from a lvl 80 1900 spell power paladin is over 1100HP.
Great example is Sapphiron
All raid members taking damage from frost aura.
Cast FoL on 3-5 members at all times keeping the HoT up as well as Beacon.
Each of the 3-5 members will get the 1100HP/3secs
The target of Beacon of Light will get 1100HP*((3-5)/3sec).
***Thats an extra 3300-5500HP/3secs on the tank FOR FREE!***
Basicaly every time the HoT heals someone that actually got damaged, the tank will get that heal also. Against sapphiron thats an easy way to keep the raid and the tank alive without going oom.

If i`ve learn anything from the developers comments about wotlk and its objectives, its to not look at changes individually. The comments above while correct and valid don`t take into account the following.
Its another HoT. In some encounters where there are silences involved (a modern version of MH or Gruul) and the raid is low(ish) on HoT healers, then this is a 15 second duration HoT, which is likely to be huge given paladin crit stacking, and the crit bonus to FoL when Sacred Shield activates is colossal. So the initial affect is 50%, your FoL is most likely critting 90% (25man raid buffs) of the time with Sac Shield up, (unfortunate acronym there really), which means you can recoup 60% of the cost of the damn thing almost every time, although this glyph has little to do with that.
I also think its unfair for people to see this as a AoE encounter glyph. Personally i see this as a way for a coordinated raid to integrate the paladins into a raid more. This wouldnt make Divine Plea a 12 second downtime for the paladin. He could be HL spamming the MT, then when DP is up, another healer switches over, the paladin pops the plea, chucks these on everyone who needs, still a substantial heal given the info above, and then resumes healing the MT. This is just a thought experiment, but perhaps he could maintain solohealing the MT with the point made above concerning Beacon of Light Stacking. Beacon, Plea, Stack all the melee up with it (tbh i cant remember a difficult encounter where the raid isnt taking extensive damage.
On encounters akin to Najentus, most of Hyjal, gruul, a decent amount of ssc, and trashgonewrong101 this could be a great way of keeping the raid up, while the tank drops a bit lower than you`d normally let him. a risk, but its something.
personally i love this glyph, and will be combining it with seal of light, lay on hands when i go back to holy, but please dont plug it into a spreadsheet and say its bad. It stops FoL being a HL downranking with less crit.
The main disadvantage to this glyph is player mentality. I think its fair to assume that not many holy paladins play another healing class in raids, and so they will be of a strong mindset that hots are unavailable to them and playstyle suits accordingly. Perhaps breaking that mold will enable this glyph to be maximised.
Final point: Glyphs are not meant to be talent points. They do not all upgrade your healing power by 5% (only one does). Its the same with all specs and classes afaik. There are no set ones that are the ''best'' for your class. One, two at best are, but there is always a wildcard in there that will appeal to some, and be abhorrent to others. This is one of those, and i'll always have it unless i walk into a Treefest raid. Then i'll just go ret cos druids are OP so i wont be needed.

How many of your FoL's count as the "initial heal?"
If I'm healing a MT on a raid boss, is it just the first FoL on him that's going to be at 50%? Because isn't the HoT refreshed everytime I cast another FoL on him?
This is my main hangup with this glyph. I would rather have 100% of my FoL with most of my casts. But if I'm sacrificing 50% of the effect for a HoT I'd rather not use it.
So I guess what I'm asking is, how often is your FoL reduced to 50%?

Ok, as posted above (but for the ppl who still don't get it) this is how it works:
Normal unglyphed FoL = 6000 (this is players who don't have the glyph)
Glyphed FoL
Normal Heal mechanic = 3000 (this is the amount healed as soon as the spell is cast)
HoT Mechanic = 3000 x 140% = 4200 (this is how much the HoT does over 12sec if not dispelled or replaced by casting another FoL from the same paladin)
Per-Tick amount = 4200/4 = 1050per tick (this means every 3sec the HoT heals 1050, but be aware that it can crit)
Now.. Having that said.. if your FoL crits, obviously your HoT will be Higher, But if you cast another FoL on the same target it replaces the HoT with the last casted FoL values.
I use the rotation as such:
FoL on sum1 with Sac Shield up (it crits)
I wait a sec to see if they will need another heal soon. I wait until they are missing at least as much HP as my holy shock gives. THen i cast it. (it usualy crits). Now i wait again. If the target takes insane damage all of a sudden.. well, my HoT is still going and now i have a very very fast Holy Light to max him out... If he isn't, then i wait till he is missing enough for another FoL, and insta cast it on him. I do not spam FoL on the same target. I use FoL as an intermediary between my holy shocks (which heal more and crit more and increase spell cast speed and are instant) if FoL isn't enough and HS is on cd, then i cast Holy light. I don't have mana problems and was able to heal up through 10-man KT with mostly blue gear on.

For those of you wondering if this is worth having as ret pali read-on -> with
Sheath of Light
and
Glyph of Flash of Light
it would apear that ShoL's healing-potential is nerfed... my combat log says it all ->
---->with Glyph<----
Maelwyn's Flash of Light heals Maelwyn for 568.(Critical)
Maelwyn gains Maelwyn's Sheath of Light.
Maelwyn gains 199 Health from Maelwyn's Glyph of Flash of Light.

Maelwyn gains 199 Health from Maelwyn's Glyph of Flash of Light.
Maelwyn's Glyph of Flash of Light fades from Maelwyn.
Maelwyn gains 85 Health from Maelwyn's Sheath of Light.
Maelwyn's Sheath of Light fades from Maelwyn.
---->without Glyph<----
Maelwyn's Flash of Light heals Maelwyn for 1241.(Critical)
Maelwyn gains Maelwyn's Sheath of Light.
Maelwyn gains 186 Health from Maelwyn's Sheath of Light.
Maelwyn gains 186 Health from Maelwyn's Sheath of Light.
Maelwyn gains 186 Health from Maelwyn's Sheath of Light.
Maelwyn gains 187 Health from Maelwyn's Sheath of Light.
Maelwyn's Sheath of Light fades from Maelwyn.
Normaly, under the exact conditions of test 1, without the glyph I would have healed around 1.8k (568*2*1.6)... with the glyph it apears to be right around 1.7k. Also other drawdowns are -> bad for spamming and having to wait around 9 or so seconds for it to come close to healing the amount of a regular Flash of Light crit.
So to recap... the only time this glyph is useful as ret pali with ShoL is when ur not critting and not dying too fast :P I think this glyph needs to be reworked a bit :/ sorry for such a long post, hope this helps :)

you are mistaken...
In his case, as a ret paly with SoL, the gyph does nerf his healing. The reason the two initial heals are different values is beacuse of the glyph. The glyph of flash of light lowers the initial FoL heal by 50% (as you can see the non-glyphed heal is 2x that of the glyphed).
So in his case the math works against him. However, some may argue that the Hot is more valuable because one still receives heals while stunned.
I must add, that even as a ret paly, that your unglyphed FoL is increadibly low. You should be pushing much much closer to 3k heals.

Unfortunate that it has been changed; I waas enjoying something other than the mindless FoL spamming that was a BC healadin. I hope that the old effect gets applied to a libram or new glyph. Or better yet, this gets reverted and the FoL crit gets rolled into the talent that give shock and HL crit.

Another one of those glyphs which seem interesting, but are not strong enough to be a real contender to other Prot/Retri glyphs.
Honestly this glyph should be "baked into" the Retri/Prot classes, would be nice as a form of compensation for using Holy Power on healing instead of DPS - especially if used on teammates.
