For each of the three Whelpling pets you need to be in the specific spec to which the pet belongs, in order to be able to buy it. In this case, you need to be specced into Unholy to be able to buy Vilebrood Whelpling.

After the loss of our artifact weapons, these pets are no longer available it seems. Hope they fix it.

really like that any character can summon them after obtained on my DK. Its worth going for the campaign and all the time invested, these whelps are cute! And you receive 3 at once

Confirming some stuff for latecomers to these pets like myself.
The following is true as of patch 8.2, 19/9/19
I created a DK in March '19 with the explicit purpose of buying these 3 pets (She's even called Broodwhelp ^^). She has 2 days 11 hours total /played at 120, but I definitely got distracted a few times along the way, gearing up a little and mountruns stuff, but they are mine today!

-I do have all 3 artifact weapons, but I can't be sure if that's a requirement. All the 力量提升 or "Reaching artifact trait level X" is gone.
-I did have to complete Breaching the Tomb, a pretty straight forward but little time-gated achievement for progressing the Broken Shore storyline (Exalted not required)
-Once I completed Breaching the Tomb, a short questline to obtain the DK class mount became available from Archerus (order hall)

It was after completing this that Slimy now sells the 3 pets for 1000职业大厅资源 each, regardless of spec or weapon equipped.

Hope this helps some people as the information has become a little confusing what with all the changes since Legion Artifact power and BFA.

The 突袭墓穴 Achievement is NOT REQUIRED to be completed to get access to these pets OR THE CLASS MOUNT
