This is effectively a self target Divine Intervention. Pretty expensive to make even after the patch but can be useful if you really hate dying or can save the raid from having to run back.

An awesome potion useful in arenas
Almost every class has Dot's. Place a few on em, pop this potion
Hope this helped!

Will this item drop your aggro when used?
In other words, would a mob continue to whack at you when you take it, or will they shoot over to the #2 on the aggro list?
I'm trying to determine it's usefulness from a Tank's prospective.

It turns out one of these things can be used as an expensive way to avoid dying from falling damage. I flew up to the maximum height above the Terrace of Light and dismounted. I had no Parachute Cloak or anything like that, so I dropped like a stone. When I was at about the top of A'dal's head I drank a Flask of Petrification. It stopped me cold and held me in the air. When the minute expired, I dropped the rest of the way, and took only minimal damage.
Obviously, popping one of these just to avoid dying from a fall isn't exactly a sensible economic decision. I imagine it mostly would be showboaters in Shattrath who'd do this. For some, after all, a little attention is worth any amount of gold. When I tested this it was on the PTR* and, yeah, I did it where a lot of people would see me. I got a few tells, mostly from people who thought it was a bug.
*It still works on Live, though. I procced extras making one of these on my normal realm and used one to confirm my original test.
Update
: As per 2.3, I think, the petrification effect does not prevent you from falling, but so long as it's still in effect when you land, you won't take any damage.

A good use may b to pop it if you get in a tight spot with gruul's shatter attack though it would b emergence use only since u would b stuck for 60 seconds but anything is better than dieing.

Can anyone confirm that it removes the bleed on Moroes? Guy in our raid swears back and blue the guy has a hardon for him, he's an ice mage, and we had 2 paladins a few weeks ago, he was cured and goroted 4 times! two ice blocks and two BoPs!

This flask removes all buffs / debuffs, and the flask effect itself is not removable, as it is a typeless debuff (red border). This means that if you pop this, you're frozen for the entire 60s duration.

Note: As of 2.3 this item and others will not stop you in the air, but rather you will continue falling.

This thing says it lasts for one minute, and only has a three second cooldown, So can you drink one, wait a minute, then instantly drink another?

Does it work for capping places in pvp, or preventing cap from enemies in world pvp/BGs?
Go the the area where you get the pvp slider bar, fight whatever you can, if you're about to die pop one and you'll be considered am unkillable live player in the zone for 1min, making the cap of the zone slow/impossible for enemies ?

imo the best use of this stuff is when you're raiding and you get some very nasty DoT debuff or an AOE thingy. Drink the stuff and it can prevent a wipe if you're a healer or something

Just obtained 6 of this and tested in WSG and on Son of Gruul in BE.
It clear all your buffs and debuffs (including food and flasks)
You gain
debuff
called
Petrification
It lasts for 1 min and
can't
be removed or dispelled
It get you ouf of combat and drop all aggro
It can be drinked over and over, because it share cooldown with other flask, You only need to wait one minute to drink next
It's imo very usefull for fun, but not much in raid or PvP. Because it clear your buffs, and lasts for 1 min and cannot be removed or dispelled. In WSG, as it clear your bufs, you also drop the flag.
might be usefull in raid progression, when you have respawned trash behind, and dont want to clear it again. Just go where boss/trash cant be pulled, drink this, wait for others to wipe and evade trash/boss, ress others.
Or in PvP, it can be expensive vanish for non-rogues, Just drink this (you'll get ou of combat), wait one minute, drink
Invisibility Potion
.
So it's veru funny item, but realy expensive.

So i can use this next to Saurfang and i still wont be killed?

Saurfang is only letting you live for 60 seconds because it will be the only time you get to see him while you are alive.

What I'm curious about is the viability of this in boss fights where threat is a none issue. For example Murmur. As long as someone is within melee range his focus is on them. My question is would he still try to hit you (provided there isn't another melee within range) or turn his attention to those at range and proceed to wipe them out while your immune.

I'm assuming it wouldn't work, but has anyone tried getting 5-6 people with these flasks to go pop them on a population-cap zone like in EotS or Wintergrasp or the towers in EPL? Just wondering if you count toward the number of your faction in the area for capturing it while petrified, or if it's just like being stealthed/unflagged and you don't count.

Finally
found the Recipe for this flask in the AH after almost a
year
of searching. I was prepared to spend up to 3000g for it, considering it's just so rare to come across these days since the majority of players aren't grinding between the 50-60 level range anymore. Found it on the AH for 600g, which was a steal, especially since it completed my Alchemy book (sans a few cauldrons).
As for the flask, I love it. Descriptions here are accurate; the flask turns you to stone for one minute, breaking all combat and leaving you invulnerable. Any mobs that were attacking you will
break away and return to their patrols
. As long as you don't draw aggro when the flask is finished, you'll stay out of combat. The debuff can't be removed, so you have to wait for the full minute until it wears off. But it's just like Hunter's Feign Death, or a Rogue's Vanish. Aside from the dozens of fun PvP uses, I've found that this flask also has PvE benefits.
Even if the class you're playing has a combat-breaking/aggro-dropping spell, this flask gives you a SECOND escape route. Granted, you'll be out of combat for one minute, but there are dozens of PvE and raid scenarios in which this can be useful. Healers that don't have a Soul Stone active can pop one if the raid wipes, allowing them to stay alive and rez the group back up.
With a cost of about 8g per flask, depending on your server, it's an
expensive
"Oh Crap" button, but serves its purpose well. I've only used it in a raid once so far, but I've used about a dozen of them in PvP and PvE leveling to avoid death.

Considering the cost of durability as a mail or plate wearer can outweigh the cost of the flask, its a win. Or if your just lazy and don't like running back it's still a win.
Or if you saw the youtube video above and want to replicate it with a bunch of mages to ice nova and AE 20+ allys down, then it's the ultimate win. Gogo God in a Bottle.

I've read some where it is possible to use this during Hard Mode Iron Council where you can pop one before Meltdown since you're gonna die anyways might as well prevent a boss buff if you don't have any pallies for DI. No longer will work due to the changes to it.
Leading to the nerf in 3.2 I tested a few on the PTR to see if it still held anything similar to the pre 3.2 version.
Absorbs exactly 6000 damage. After 6000 damage is dealt you are free.
It is no longer a flask, but a potion now so it triggers the potion CD.
Does not benefit from Mixology or any alchemist stone as far as I know.
It does not cause any loss of aggro nor does it remove any debuffs or prevent future debuffs when used.
When used, all your buffs and elixirs/flasks are still active and aren't removed.
Assuming if a tank is using this, your avoidance is at 0 when used.
Overall it seem the fun factor was nerfed out however, it could useful in situations where you know you're about to take a large hit (maybe Fusion Punch from Iron Council) working as a preemptive health pot where 6000 is a pretty decent amount.
This item went from a DI in a bottle to a PW: Shield in a bottle.

Might be a "potion" now but it procs for Elixir Mastery. :) (was a flask before).
I got an x8 proc. The mats now make x2 by default.

I had been playing for more than a year before I was able to get this recipe. Then when I was finally able to make as many bottles of Potion of Petrification that I wanted, the mats were so expensive (in time to farm them or gold to buy them) it was not possible to have a huge supply of these, so there was absolutely no need for blizzard to nerf these. Typical blizzard, they make a great item but also make it very rare, expensive, or hard to get and then when enough people get it they nerf it.
Before the nerf this item was something of myth and legend (well at least in regards to this silly game), i.e. a potion that made you invulnerable to all damage for 1 minute with only a 3 second cooldown, so in practice you could drink another potion one after the other and stay invulnerable for as many minutes as you had potions (which as I said because of the cost of mats was not that many). After the nerf it became a who cares potion that is not worth the trouble.

I scan the auction house really regularly, and auctioneer collects statistics on how often it sees items. The recipe for this potion is among the most rare items I have seen. Over the last four and a half years (since I last reset my data), I've seen it only
12
times, including the one I just bought. Of course I don't see the ones that are kept rather than sold, or the ones that are posted and snatched up before I have a chance to see them, but that's true for most items. The drop rate is just so low, and the sources are high-level vanilla mobs, many of whom are in raid locations that lots of people just skip when leveling, so if you're looking on the auction house, the recipe is crazy rare.
