Abilities and Explanation
元首马尔高克
(175mil HP)
As the grand Imperator of Highmaul, Mar'gok is descended from a long line of sorcerers who have ruled the Gorian Empire. Equal parts cunning and brutality, Mar'gok recognized the rising tide of the Iron Horde and what it would mean to oppose them. He has acquiesced to an alliance with Grommash, even as he continues to search for a way to tip the balance of power back into his favor.

has the following abilities throughout the whole fight, but every phase he enhances them with two runes (there are three different runes total).

With each consecutive melee attack against the same target,

's attack speed increases by 4%. This effect stacks.
This is the only ability that does not get enhanced by runes.

(1.5sec cast, 50sec cooldown):

blasts a random player with Arcane energy, branding them for 4 sec.
When Branded expires, it inflicts 89,029 Arcane damage to the wearer and jumps to their closest ally within 200 yards.
Each time

jumps, its damage increases by 25% and range decreases by 50%.

summons an Arcane mine that persists for 1 minute.
If triggered,

inflicts 114,988 Arcane damage to all players. In addition, this effect inflicts 268,304 Arcane damage to the player that triggered it, increasing their Arcane damage taken by 45% for 1 min and stunning them for 1.50 sec whenever they take Arcane damage.

summons a dark star at a random player's location that explodes after 5 sec, inflicting 292500 to 307500 Shadow damage to all enemies within 25 yards of the star.

Execution

has a 15min Enrage Timer.

has a separate 5min Enrage Timer.
Both of the above Enrage Timers don’t really matter, since you can easily finish the fight before the bosses go berserk. Therefore, this is a control fight.
Timing the transitions properly and killing high priority targets fast is what will help you progress through this fight. Phase 1 is 100%->66.5%, phase 2 is 66.5%->33.5%, phase 3 is 33.5%->5.5% and phase 4 is where you get to kill

. There are also 2 intermissions between the first 3 phases.
Raid Setup
Tanks: 3
Using three tanks helps improve stability in this fight.
Having a tank that can deliver heavy AoE damage to the Arcane Remnants that they are tanking makes a big difference.
Also, sharing the tank damage between three tanks instead of two makes a world of difference and does relieve your healers and tanks from a lot of pressure.
Healers: 5
The healer setup is relevant to the tank setup. If you are using two tanks it is advised you bring an extra holy paladin for the tank healing.
Otherwise, going with a balanced setup is recommended. A balanced healer setup is always a safe bet for any fight. Having said that, discipline priests are very helpful because they can shield
奥术愤怒
targets.
DPS: 12
Because this is a control fight, single target dps doesn’t matter as much, so you shouldn’t choose your setup by looking at the Butcher damage meter. The things that you need in order to progress through this fight fast are:
Good AoE damage for the Arcane Remnants and Night-Twisted Faithfuls (i.e. enhancement shaman, combat rogues, death knights, arms warriors)
Good single target burst damage for the Arcane Aberrations (i.e. shadow priests, marksmanship hunters, destruction warlocks)
Many interrupts for the Gorian Warmages (any melee dps, rogues using deadly throw, blood elf racials if you are Horde)
External cooldowns for your tanks to survive (i.e. retribution paladins, arms warriors). In general, you want to have a healthy balance between ranged and melee dps.
Phase 1 Displacement and Replication
Use Bloodlust on the pull, since you will need it for the final phase of the encounter.
Bringing the boss at the middle of the room is the first thing you should do on this encounter. The raid should be positioned at the Triangle Marker for the start of this phase and every time a
毁灭共鸣
spawns the raid moves counter-clockwise to avoid it.

s generally add to the difficulty of this encounter and the longer they remain active, the harder the fight gets. It is of critical importance that these adds get prioritized by the dps every time they are up. Don't forget that whenever you kill an
奥术畸兽
it knocks you back in this phase so never position yourself in front of a
毁灭共鸣
.
Once the Arcane Aberration is destroyed, smaller adds called
奥术残渣
s will spawn. At this point it is good to have a death knight using
血魔之握
for more efficient AoE damage.
If the
奥术愤怒
's initial target is a ranged player, an arranged group of four ranged raiders is responsible for managing it.
When the Boss casts the
奥术愤怒
these assigned players need to make their way away from the rest of the raid.
They only need to move 25 yards away and get rid of it when it has a 25 yards jump radius with a small damage mitigation cooldown.
The group that manages
奥术愤怒
should be moving clockwise.
If the initial target is a melee player, then just keep it in the melee camp, until it has a 13yard jump radius and whoever two melee dpsers have it at that point, they need to move as far as they can within the circle, while the rest of the melee move on the opposite side of the boss. Remember that
奥术愤怒
s cannot jump on tanks.

needs to be taunted around 5-8 stacks in order to reset his stacks of

.
In regards to countering
混沌标记
, it is advised that you arrange a tank with a good gap closer ability (e.g.
英勇飞跃
) to always be the target of that specific ability.
The tank that takes the
混沌标记
is running away from the raid and explodes in a safe distance.
After the explosion happens the raid should watch out for incoming
混沌之球
and avoid them.
奥能新星
is deadly during this phase and will kill your raiders when they are not prepared or randomly running on top of others causing Replicating damage. It is advised that you organize your raiders and have them run over the
奥能新星
with a priority system (e.g.
闪现术
classes first, then healers, then the rest).
Keep doing that till 66,5%. That's when phase 1 ends and the Boss goes to the Intermission: Dormant Runestones.
Phase 1
ranged camp movement:
Intermission: Dormant Runestones
This Intermission lasts 60 seconds. The Boss becomes inactive for this period and two

s appear on the Entrance side. Meanwhile, Volatile Anomaly spawn from the Boss.
For this phase, we move the ranged raiders stacked at the Moon Marker, where they should have enough range on the Gorian Warmages, in order to nuke them down, and also healers being able to heal the melee dps that are under them.
You are required to make an interrupt assignment for these two adds. Make sure

never reaches 3 or more stacks because it is deadly. One or two stacks are manageable.
Gorian Warmages:

s fixate on a target and they are casting Nether Blast on him for 15 seconds.

targets are supposed to move away from the others because of its splash damage.
You should focus one Gorian Warmage down and then move on the second one (keep interrupting both targets though).
Three tanks are enough dps for the

that spawns and controlling the damage on them is easier that way - don't forget that every time one

dies it explodes doing damage to everyone. So don't forget that regulating that damage is important.
When the boss becomes active again and the

s are dead, the raid gathers in the middle of the room and use some survivability cooldowns (e.g. Power Word: Barrier ,

Intermission:
Phase 2 Displacing and Fortification
After you have killed off the
高里亚战争法师
s and AoEd the Volatile Anomalies, the boss should be kept in the middle of the room, while the ranged camp moves to the Sword Marker.
Throughout all this phase, the Boss is tanked in the middle and the ranged camp has to move around clockwise in order to avoid
混沌标记
. Remember that in this phase, the tank that gets the
混沌标记
gets teleported to a random ranged player and gets rooted for the full duration of the debuff, therefore the whole movement strategy in this phase is based around this debuff.
On the first
混沌标记
, the ranged move from the Sword Marker to the Cross Marker.
On the second
混沌标记
, move from the Cross Marker to the Triangle Marker.
On the third
混沌标记
, move from the Triangle Marker to the Circle Marker.
Lastly, on the fourth
混沌标记
, move from the Circle Marker to the Square Marker.
If everything goes according to plan, you shouldn't get a fifth
混沌标记
.
Phase 2 ranged camp movement:
Since the
奥术愤怒
in this phase doesn't duplicate, you only need 2 players to handle it.
Because of all the movement that the ranged camp does in this phase, the
奥术愤怒
soakers need to adjust their movement paths as well.
Due to the fact that the Displacing Rune is still active in this phase, the initial branded player cannot move more than 10yards.
In order to ensure that the first jump of
奥术愤怒
goes to one of the two soakers, there should be one at the ranged camp and one at the melee camp.
The debuff should be dealt with, either at the 63yards, or the 48yards jumps, depending on the distance that it has from the rest of the raid (always play it safe).
The paths that the soakers need to take in order to get rid of each of the
奥术愤怒
s are shown in the pictures below.
1st and 2nd

The Arcane Aberrations in this phase don't spawn any Arcane Remnants, but they still do the knock back, so be careful not to get knocked into a

The Force Novas don't have the Replicating Rune anymore, so there is no reason to spread or use immunities when passing through them. Just outheal the damage.
Intermission: Lineage of Power
The only thing that is different on this intermission compared to the first is the
高里亚劫掠者
.
Handle everything else the same way as you did on the first intermission.
高里亚劫掠者
should be tanked on the same spot where
不稳定的畸体
are killed, so no change here.
Make sure your second in threat tank is prepared for some heavy damage after
踢脸
happens.
When the boss becomes active again, gather the raid on him –face Goarian Reaver away, you don't want him to shockwave your raid- use your mitigation cooldowns and blow the adds again and prepare for phase 3.
Intermission:
Phase 3 Fortification and Replication
This phase will find you at about the middle of the room, on the spot where the boss became active again.
With the Gorian Reaver still alive and the very first
奥术愤怒
of this phase incoming, the raid should work its way through the boss towards the Diamond Marker, while
元首马尔高克
is being tank towards the middle.
On the very first
奥术愤怒
four people gather up -including the person who has the
奥术愤怒
- and move towards the Triangle Marker.
Then the four people remain there and deal with it by moving away from the rest of the raid until
奥术愤怒
is at 48 yards.
Before the next jump of the
奥术愤怒
happens, two of the four people rejoin the rest of the raid and the remaining two soak the last two
奥术愤怒
s of 48yard damage with a big cooldown.
1st
奥术愤怒
movement:
That is how you handle only the first
奥术愤怒
of the third phase of the encounter. The next ones on this phase should be handled by the melee.
Everyone who gets
奥术愤怒
on this phase should run to the melee camp (if he is ranged), drop this
奥术愤怒
, and move out again immediately.
Now, it's important to know that when the
奥术愤怒
is at 85 yards two assigned melee with good survivability cooldowns and good gap closing abilities (e.g. rogues , monks) should run at the Star Marker where they will take the next
奥术愤怒
and should immediately run to the Balcony behind the Square Marker side where they will soak the last 63 yard
奥术愤怒
on a safe distance from the raid.
2nd, 3rd and 4th
奥术愤怒
movement:
奥术畸兽
s are handled the same way as in the other phases. It's critical to kill them as soon as possible.
You need to kill it before it kills you, save your healers' mana, and relieve them from pressure. Also it helps people who soak
奥术愤怒
to be as topped as possible.
Can't stress this enough - Kill the Arcane Aberration ASAP. Remember, after killing one in this phase it does not knock anymore.
Also, a good tip for the
奥术残渣
s when
奥能新星
is happening at this phase is to use AoE stuns (e.g.
扫堂腿
) in order to not have the adds move around chasing their target.
奥能新星
does not pushback on this phase but it does
复制
damage. It is advised that you spread around.
Never move left or right for any reason.
Have your healers stand closer to the boss to always have range to everyone and your ranged dps behind them. Having your healers stationary for this phase helps significantly.
Make sure no dps interferes with them, stand and heal because the damage (especially when an
奥术畸兽
is active) is really high and it's the only reason why this fight needs five healers, since the rest of the phases are pretty easy to heal.
Your tanks need to make sure that whenever the Boss casts
混沌标记
, it is targeting either your Protection Warrior, or your
酒仙武僧
.
Since the tank that gets targeted by the Mark is rooted as soon as they get the debuff, your Protection Warrior needs to

away / your Brewmaster Monk needs to
魂体双分
away towards the Square Marker while the Boss is casting it (2sec cast).
Remember that the raid still needs to watch out for the incoming
混沌之球
.
For this phase it is important to place Destructive Resonance on spots that will not make the rest of fight harder for you later on.
From the beginning of this phase you start placing the mines on the Diamond Marker and moving clockwise, so next ones should be towards the Triangle Marker up to the Circle Marker.
It is a good strategy to have all ranged raiders move close to mines that are already spawned when new
毁灭共鸣
are about to be cast. By doing that, you manage to have lot more space to spread for the
奥能新星
s.
Additionally, this means more space to avoid the
混沌之球
and no fear for the ranged when moving in the melee for the
奥术愤怒
. Generally, not flooding the room with mines helps you. Try to place them as gathered up as possible and gradually work your way to the
圆环
marker. If you do things right you will not have to move further on and the boss will be at 5.5% by that time.
Then the roleplay will start with
古加尔
appearing which means the final mythic only phase is commencing.
Phase 4: Cho'gall
As soon as Mar'gok reaches 5.5% health, the raid dps should focus on finishing off any remaining
奥术畸兽
s / Arcane Remnants, since any additional damage on Mar'gok is purely wasted.
Keep in mind that Mar'gok will still cast his abilities for around 10sec before
古加尔
traps him, so be ready to handle any
混沌标记
, Force Novas,
奥术愤怒
that he might cast. Also, make sure that you push the boss to 5.5% health with the timer for the next
奥术畸兽
being >10sec, because a fresh spawned add will cause massive amounts of damage draining your healers dry right before
古加尔
spawns.
As the initial massive wave of

s is flooding the room, keep calm and have your hunters Misdirect your tank (Protection Warrior preferably) and cast

The healers might take initial healing aggro, so make sure that they all have ways to survive (

Your Protection Warrior should also drop a
near the Moon Marker and then move to the Circle Marker.
All the Night-Twisted Faithfuls should be gathered on your tank along with any

leftovers and the raid has around 20 seconds to AoE them down. Try to make them die as close to each other as possible in order to have the

cover as little area as possible.
After the initial wave of the Faithfuls is dead, there will be another wave of them spawning 10sec before

becomes targetable. You only need one tank on the boss since there is no need to ever tank-swap in this phase. Have the other 2 tanks picking up the Night-Twisted Faithfuls, but don't bring them next to the boss just yet.
As soon as
古加尔
is active, have your Boss-tank drag him to the Sword Marker (melee dps be careful to not get one-shot from
古加尔
's first auto attack). The whole raid should be gathered at the boss throughout the whole phase in order to control the spawn location of the Glimpses of Darkness as much as possible.
无尽黑暗
needs to be coordinated by the healers for two things, healing it and dispelling it.
Having assigned healers to maximize the healing done on the debuffed targets and not leaving it to chance is an obvious choice for this mechanic.
Have your strong spot healers to do as much as possible on
无尽黑暗
, while not neglecting tank healing of course.
It is critical to dispel the debuffs to get the raid shields for the
噬体之夜
s in order to survive the massive damage. Your healers need to organize themselves on the spot and decide whom to dispel last and basically spam heal that person, meaning that they will build a massive absorb shield – which will be the one that will be dispelled right before the second
噬体之夜
which will do 400,000 raid damage. You don't really need a raid shield for the first
噬体之夜
, since personal survivability and healer cooldowns are enough.
Healers have to communicate their picks with the rest of the raid because you should remember that these targets get zero healing while under the debuff – meaning if they take damage they shouldn't have, they will die. Also, if for example a rogue cloaks
无尽黑暗
and he was your priority absorb shield target and messes with your shield, you will wipe.
无尽黑暗
requires good coordination and good play from all sides to avoid mistakes and wipes on the final phase.
The hardest mechanic to handle in this phase is the
疯狂之眼
and the
深渊之眼
that they cast.
You need to make 5 groups of 2 ranged dps or healers each, and assign each group to a specific Glimpse.
Once the first person in the group reaches 4-5 stacks of
深渊凝视
, they trade places with the second player. Rinse and repeat until the boss is dead.
If any of these soakers happen to get the
无尽黑暗
debuff while soaking the
深渊凝视
, they need to be dispelled instantly, otherwise they will quickly die.
So, once the first
疯狂之眼
spawns at the Sword Marker, the boss needs to be moved along with the raid, except for the first group of soakers, to the middle of the room.
Wait for the first Dark Star to spawn and then move quickly away from it, towards the Circle Marker. By that point another wave of Faithfuls will have spawned, making them twenty in total. Your 2 off-tanks should already have them gathered near the Circle Marker and once the boss is moved there, AoE them all down.
Wait for the second Glimpse to spawn and then move the Boss to the Triangle Marker (second group of soakers stays behind). Then wait for the third Glimpse to spawn and move the boss back to the middle of the room.
After the second

has spawned (keep in mind it most likely will spawn in the middle, but it could also spawn at the soakers of the Glimpses), move the Boss to the Cross Marker. There should again be 2 waves of Faithfuls already up, and the 2 off-tanks must have them gathered up at the Cross Marker. Once Cho'gall is there, AoE everything down.
Again wait for the fourth Glimpse to spawn. Then move the boss to the Skull Marker.
Wait for the fifth Glimpse to spawn and move the Boss back to the middle of the room. This is pretty much your final destination. There will be one last

followed by a sixth Glimpse right after.

needs to be <10% health at this point. You have ~20 seconds before the third

cast, which will surely wipe the raid. The two off-tanks need to start kiting the Faithfuls, using stuns if necessary to survive. Make sure that the raid stays spread, because at this point people are probably going to start dying and you don't want explosions of

Note: Since the Glimpses of Darkness can spawn on any random player, it is possible that it does spawn at a player who is already soaking a previous Glimpse. If that happens, the group assigned to that new Glimpse needs to react fast and go to it, before it starts shooting. Otherwise, the unlucky soaker will get hit by double

The good news is that even if a few people die, the mechanics of this phase don't wipe the raid that fast, so as long as you get him down before the third

This fight is Destruction heaven, and I highly advise playing this spec.
Make sure to

as much as possible. Try to save embers for the big adds so you can kill them faster.
Healing Priest
Your preferred specialization for this encounter is discipline. Using

on Branded targets goes a long way.
Restoration Druid
For a long fight such as this one playing with

Long fight with several phases demanding loads of burst of healing. Perfect scenario for your class. Make sure you have a good plan for when to use them and coordinate them with the rest of the healing team.
Tanks
Make sure you have a properly working addon that tells you what external cooldown is available for you to ask at any time (Hermes is a good one). Tank damage in this fight might be a problem, of course depending on your gear.
