Hello, as many of you know
Doubleagent
has just reached level 90 (now 100, now 110) as a neutral pandaren. This is an amazing feat and would first like to congratulate him for doing it and for being the current only nuetral level 90 (and 100) (and 110). But, how did he do it? I'm here to give my best educated guess at how he did it and show you how you can do it as well. Finding nodes getting to the wood of staves, I'm going to show you how to do it!
Choosing a Class
Seeing as there is no mount trainer you cannot ride a mount unless you have
Sea Turtle
(and no you can't summon
Chauffeured Chopper
sorry) which only increases swim speed choosing a class is very important to see how fast you can move around and gather nodes. Shamans are especially good at this because they have
Ghost Wolf
which increases movement speed by 30% and they get it at level 15.
-Mages have
Blink
learned at level 7 which moves them ahead by 20 yards also at level 15 they can get
Blazing Speed
as a talent which increases movement speed by 150% for 1.5 seconds.
-Hunters have no speed buff early on, but at level 24 they learn
Aspect of the Cheetah
which increases movement speed by 30% like ghost wolf but, if you get hit while this aspect is active you get stunned which is a downside.
-Warriors have barley any speed buff and the on thing they do have
Herioc Leap
is learned at level 85 and isn't really a speed buff anyways, overall not a great choice.
-Priests have
Angelic Feather
it is a 3 charge 80% speed increase for 6 seconds learned at level 30. This is arguably the best speed buff in the game but for the wandering isle it takes awhile to get to level 30 which is the only downside.
-Rogues have a pretty good speed buff,
Sprint
it increases movement speed by 70% for 8 seconds but, it has a 1 minute cooldown and is learned at level 26 if your willing to grind at walking speed till that it is a good choice.
-Monks have
Roll
learned at only level 5 allows you to roll a short distance with 0.8 seconed cooldown and
Momentum
and
Celerity
(level 15 talents you can only choose one) both affect it positively, also windwalker monks will have
Flying Serpent kick
which is learned at level 18 and moves you forward this is not its intended use but it is one none the less.
How you level up
When you first start out you should finish all the quests to gain the most XP although you could stay on the hand in of
The Passion of Shen-zin Su
for a speed buff that allows you to get herbs and mining nodes faster, although I suggest just doing all the quest for the most XP possible. When you get to the hand in of
A New Fate
STOP
don't talk to master Shang Xi or you will have to pick a faction here your neutral journey begins. Go outside the main entrance to the Temple of Five Dawns and down 2 flights of stairs turn right and you should see a proffesion trainer, from him learn
Herbalism
and
Mining
you only encounter
Copper Veins
in mining so no need to learn any smelting. WIth herbalism you encounter
Earthroot
,
Peacebloom
and,
Silverleaf
each herb up to level 29 gives 90 XP, but when you get to level 29 if you are rested Earthroot is 30 XP and the other 2 are 20 XP (Mageroyal is also on the isle but I will explain that in the materials section). Same with copper, before 29 90 XP afterwards when rested 20 XP. Now turn on herb and mining tracking on your minimap and find herbs and copper to level up! There is another trick though, (that would be very difficult to go without) which involves dailies. First you must get a daily like
Old MacDonald
which doesn't require a hand in from a person just in your quest book. So go complete one of these types of quests on your main but
STOP
don't hand it in then get on your neutral and hand it in with him/her. On level 89 it would give 215,600 XP, for other levels I can't say but this is a huge boost to your leveling speed so level up your battle pets and do this everyday for lots of XP on your neutral.
The Isle Itself
The wandering Isle leaves all the comforts of home you know behind. It has no auction house or bank, no riding trainer, no secondary skills (First Aid, Cooking etc.), no mailboxes, no class trainers or respecs (so make sure you like what you got), you can't PVP or do any LFG no guilds also all because your neutral, and only a few merchants most who are food and drink merchants. The first NPC I'm going to point out is
Trader Feng
Who wanders on the entrance to The Rows from the Temple of Five Dawns you should go to him after you've learned your professions and buy his 8 slot bags, these are the biggest bags on the isle so buy them all. Since there is no Auction house anything you don't need for crafting (which I will get to later) you sell to a merchant its your biggest income source so make sure to do it often. After the initial quest the wood of staves is completely blocked off, to get up there you must fatigue death yourself by it (Check out Doubleagents
video
if this wasn't clear) lastly, the only place you can get profession mats that are from vendors is from the person right next to the profession trainer.
Materials
only certain materials are available to you at when you stay neutral, here they are.
Light Leather
,
Copper Ore
,
Shadowgem
,
Malachite
,
Tigerseye
,
linen Cloth
,
Silverleaf
,
Peacebloom
,
Earthroot
, and lastly
Mageroyal
this herb is special, it can only be found in the wood of staves when you kill
Thornbranch Scamps
in the wood of staves, you need herbalsim and once they die and you loot there items they can be herbalised having a low chance to drop mageroyal which can be used to make
Dusky Pigment
which is then can be made into
Midnight Ink
which is essential for making all the glyphs you can get on the Isle.
Crafting
!DISCLAIMER! This section is mostly irrelevant as of 6.1, you can now just summon heirlooms to the isle!
Crafting on The Wandering Isle is very limited seeing as not all material are available to you as well as all professions only being able to go up to 75 skill. The best armor on the isle that is easy to get without farming a trash mob is by getting either
Blacksmithing
,
Tailoring
, or
Leatherworking
with all three you will have too switch out at least 1 of your professions.
-For the mail/plate wearers you should choose Blacksmithing you should keep mining and switch it out with herbalsim, whats the best is hard to say, check the stats and see which pieces fit best together.
-For the cloth wearers tailoring is the best choice (for the best set of gear) you have to switch out your two professions with tailoring and
Skinning
to get the linen greens set, along with your choice of robe.
-For leather wearers you should choose leatherowrking, you will need to switch out both professions with skinning and Leatherworking, you should aim for the Embossed Leather set.
TIP: Try to get your whole set all at once, or else your skill will be reset when you delete it and go into another profession!
Now that we have the armor sets down lets talk about the other professions you can get (note, no other professions but herbalsim & mining get you XP)
Jewlcrafting
is fairly useless aside form getting a neck and 2 rings (Best neck
Ornate Tigerseye Necklace
Best 2 rings:
Inlaid Malachite Ring
and
Heavy Copper Ring
).
Enchanting
is also fairly useless and is only used to enchant items which isn't really neccesairy and, if you are a spell caster can be used to get
Greater Magic Wand
.
Engineering
is useless as well unless you're a hunter and want a scope, if not then don't get engineering.
Alchemy
may have its use at first but since the mobs never got past level 9 potions quickly become useless so this isn't very useful. There is all the professions!

Not a bad guide at all, good ideas and thoughts, especially the class section. One idea would be to proof read it, as there are numerous grammatical and spelling errors. Copy and paste your text in an advanced text editor and it can do a lot of the foot work for you. Good job :)

A very good guide, but in the classes you did miss that for rouges at level 15 they can learn a talent to give +20% move speed during stealth

priests get access to angelic feather at lvl 30, at 80% speed for 6 sec with 3 charges this is probably one of the best speed buffs in game

You did a pretty good job making this guide, but it's a bit incomplete.
20xp per bush is awesome, but u need 18.370.000xp for gaining last level (89 ---> 90).
Let's say u pick up earthroot every 15sec
:
30xp every 15sec =>
120xp / min
7200xp / hour
172.800xp / day
18.370.000 / 172.800 =
106 days gameplay to get last level (89 ---> 90)
.
Really? Don't think so
. There's smthng else which can give some xp:
daily quests
.
According to armory this neutral guy did 1601 daily quests: (
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/mannoroth/Doubleagent/achievement#96:a7411
).
How?
Log to your main, get (
for example
)
老马当劳
, do it, but don't press pop up window ("
Click to complete the quest
" --- it doesn't req talking to anyone). Log to your neutral panda, open quest log, press "
Complete Quest
". On lvl 89 it gives 215.600xp. In 2 mins. There is atleast 1 more quest like this (in Duskwood), maybe there are more.
Is it "fair" way? No. Did Doubleagent abuse this tactic? Yes (check armory link).
p.s. exp for dailies scales with lvl, on low lvls u get few %, on ~85 it's about 2% and so on).
p.p.s. so you still can become 1st 90lvl person lvled only on blooms. It would take few years of your life, but...

Great guide! I didn't even know that it was possible to do that! May I suggest something? In patch 6.1 they added an achievement "Heirloom Hoarder" which is achieved once you've collected 35 heirlooms. When completed it gives you a level 1 mount! All level 1's and up can use it and no flight training required! The only thing is is that it stays at 60% speed forever.

Are there mailboxes there? I forgot.

Update: Sorry guys, the remote auction house no longer exists. I will try to remember to update this if this ever changes.
By using the remote auction house, you can sell things from the Isle and claim the gold an hour after it sells, no mailbox required, It's quite a cool little feature. Not that having more than 1 gold is ever useful here.
Update: If it fails to sell, the item will be mailed to you, but using the same tool you can take it straight from the mailbox and put it back on the auctionhouse. This also works for buying things. You could become rich in the starting zone, It's essentially useless, but it's fun all the same, I want to see how much gold I make before level 100. Currently level 30 and I'm on 2k gold. Think how much I'd be on if I hadn't been giving away all the materials all this time.

For anyone attempting this path of leveling. Completing the quest chain up until
The Passion of Shen-zin
, but NOT entering the temple allows Huo to stay with you the entire journey. This provides a +50% speed boost. Note this does not stack with other speed boosts (Momentum talent with monks as an example).

I have been looking for information on the sea turtle and being able to use on the isle for about an hour. I come here to see more information about the starting zone and I noticed it is updated to include the sea turtle. There is one more mount you can add to this as well. The Subdued Seahorse in underwater areas. This only gives you increase swimming and only useable in underwater areas.
(Edited: For whatever reason, my comment got posted 3 times.)

Hi - just like to say I got to 90 just after the famous doubleagent on EU. (Xyzzyc on CoA now Neútral)
There was a site we chatted on with all neutrals listed and lvls etc. (wandering isle stayers)
This guide has some errors in it but its good - wish I had access to alpha shadowlands to see what changes occur for the race to 60, lol
I stopped the questing at "The Healing of Shen-zin Su" & had fun helping single players complete it prior to looms/nerfs etc.
Hope this guide gets updated.
Peace to all Neútral's…….

Would love to see an update for this guide. I'm probably not the only crazy Hunter out there that wants to tame
Guardian of the Elders
which requires level 39.
Please!
Btw, this is really out of date:
-Hunters have no speed buff early on, but at level 24 they learn Aspect of the Cheetah which increases movement speed by 30% like ghost wolf but, if you get hit while this aspect is active you get stunned which is a downside.
AotC was changed to Legion to have a 3 minute cooldown and you are no longer dazed. Also, Hunters can have a permanent 8% movement speed by taming one of the Cunning pets on the Isle (like a fox.) At level 30 we can talent into Trailblazer which is another 30%.

Currently leveling a monk through wandering isle.
I started a few expansions ago and got up to level 60 before they squished the level, decent feat imo. No heirlooms, no pet battle hack. just pure, honest farming.
I went with a very, very generic pandaren monk, as to keep the lore of the race intact. if i hit max level without looms, i am better than doubleagent, and that keeps me going.
