Stats for your spec
Guardian Druids wear agility leather gear. You will want to aim for Versatility or Mastery as your secondary stats, as they offer the most survival. However when comparing two items, the one with the highest item level is always going to be the most valuable - possibly excluding trinkets.
Critical Strike: Chance for extra effectiveness on attacks, and grants additional chance for you to dodge incoming attacks.
Haste: Increases attack speed, spell casting speed, reduces the GCD, and reduces the cooldown or recharge of many abilities.
Mastery: Increases the effectiveness of
Versatility: Increases your damage and healing, and reduces damage taken
- Your abilities have an additional 10% chance to trigger Gore.
- Mangle reduces the cost of your next Ironfur, Mark of Ursol, or Frenzied Regeneration by 5 Rage, stacking up to 2 times.
Check out the
Nighthold Gear section
below for recommendations on gear pieces.
Always note that due to the huge item level increase, a single Legendary will always be one of the best items you can get for that slot no matter what the actual effect of the legendary is. That being said, some are certainly more useful than others.
is decent for survival, as the heal double-dips on Mastery.
: Only useful if you actually need the extra cooldowns. Otherwise you'll find yourself using one of the others.
: By far the biggest DPS increase of any Legendary, especially in AoE.
: Only useful if you also use
, but conveniently also makes it extremely one of the most powerful especially when used with
: Reasonably strong and consistent heal. However you have no control over when it resets, so it may not be up when you really need and/or want it.
: Will generally only proc from interrupts, so it's not that great. Everything else is better.
: Extremely strong for "catweaving", but should otherwise be avoided. Remember this is flagged as a Feral legendary, so you'll have to change your lootspec to acquire it.
: Also strong for survival, as the passive benefits both the Affinity passive, and your own. That means an extra 4.5% damage reduction from
: While it has good stats, the effect is terrible. Avoid if at all possible.
Because titanforged gear is now a thing, the concept of a best in slot set is more or less not worth worrying about as item level of a less-than-optimal piece will outweigh the less than useful stats. As long as you roughly maintain the stat priority, with help from food, enchants, and gems, you're going to be fine with whatever. That being said, I do want to touch upon specific trinkets that I would try to hunt for at mythic level, as they provide the most meaningful power at roughly the same item level. For more information on gearing for raids, check out the
Legion Gearing Guide
Remember that you'll have to be in Feral Lootspec to obtain most of these.
Here is a full list of the usable items from dungeons:
Emerald Nightmare Gear
Unfortunately the best itemized gear for Guardians currently comes from dungeons, which generally means
. Emerald Nightmare gear is mostly really poorly itemized, but can still be good purely because of base item level. For more information on Nightmare gear, check out
Perculia's Emerald Nightmare Gear Guide
As with Emerald Nightmare, most of the best itemized gear still comes from dungeons. However Nighthold also comes with set bonuses, both of which are pretty good. The 2 piece bonus increases the proc chance of
to 30%, and the 4 piece bonus causes
to reduce the cost of the next Active Mitigation ability by 5 Rage. You can also think of it as causing
to generate an extra 5 Rage, which is pretty strong. Generally the four pieces you want to try and acquire are:
However as with most set bonuses, simply getting it is more important than the pieces you have. For trinkets, each of them have a purpose. However in most cases you're better off getting a passive proc trinket.
- Cheat Death effects usually strong for tanks, however the downside on this trinket makes it not at all valuable.
- Reasonably okay on-use survival trinket. However it has no DPS benefit and Guardians already have a plethora of cooldowns so you're usually going to be better off with something else..
- A general purpose survival trinket. However you'll seldom get any mileage out of the Stamina.
- A DPS trinket with a survival benefit. Very useful against
in M+, and for solo content.
Finding Gear on Wowhead
From simple recommendations to advanced filters, Wowhead can help you find the gear you want.
is a great way to search for gear if you are new to Wowhead's filtering system.
Choose what item category, gear slot, and class specialization you're interested in, and it will return results for you. You can further narrow it down by source--including gear from LFR and heroic dungeons.
You can find the Item Finder via Tools > Item Finder or Database > Items > Item Finder.
returns personalized gear suggestions for you and shows which content has the most upgrades.
Simply load up the
with you preferred character and it will list gear recommendations in a 20 ilvl range for you. It will also list how many gear upgrades each boss has so you can plan out bonus rolls. Finally, the character planner will perform an audit and let you know if you have any missing enchants, glyphs, or gems.
If you have a character in our
which is great for tracking vanity collections and viewing your character in our 3D modelviewer, you can click on the "Planner" button in the header to access the tool. If you don't, you can just enter your information in at Tools > Character Planner.
Wowhead utilizes a powerful system of item filters to narrow down the gear you need.
, you can enter in some basic options at the top--the name of the item, its item level, the level the players needs to be. The "Usable by" dropdowns cover factions, class, and role.
The dropdown menu right above "Stat Weights" opens to display a variety of advanced options. These cover the following:
General item info such as Added in Expansion/Patch, BoE/BoP, Unique-Equipped, Class-Specific.
Stats: All primary stats, secondary stats, defensive stats, and weapon stats.
Source: All in-game sources, ranging from raid difficulties to the Black Market Auction House to sold by a vendor.
Miscellaneous: Many of these filters are not relevant to equippable gear such as Crafting Reagents and Toys, but you can filter for items that are currently obtainable.
Once you've selected a filter from the menu, click on Apply filter for search results. You can repeat the process to filter for multiple criteria at once--for example, Agility gear that is found in Mythic Foundry.
Over on the right-hand side of the page, you can select a particular Gear Slot or Quality to narrow results even further.
Finally, you can quickly view a subset of items at once using the Database Menus. Head to Database > Items and mouseover the Weapon and Armor options for quick links to gear arranged by armor type and slot.
