quest for Enhancement, shared with Arcane Mages, Assassination Rogues, Retribution Paladins and Demonology Warlocks.
In this guide, we'll go over optimal talents, legendaries, gear, consumables, and spec-specific tips for beating the challenge.
This guide is about the Legion version of the Mage Tower Challenge, that isn't accessible anymore.

Artifact Tints

Preparation
Gear
When it comes to the Enhancement challenge, it is far more about survival and execution than damage. Due to this, you can realistically complete it a fairly low item level with the aid of some legendaries, but generally speaking the lower you go, the longer the fight will be and the more opportunities for failure will present themselves. Because of this, I'd probably recommend somewhere around 915+ to do it comfortably.
When it comes to specific items, no trinkets are going to make or break you for this, any set bonuses you happen to have will help, but aren't necessary to complete the encounter.
Legendaries
These can have a fairly significant impact on how easy or hard the challenge is. Due to how lax the DPS check really is for the challenge, survivability legendaries have a huge impact on how doable the challenge is. That means that

are the two go to options. Failing that, grabbing

will be the better damage option due to the wealth of CC and interrupt opportunities and how much downtime is involved. Past that, defaulting to low requirement single target options such as

Talent Choices
This build for output generally has the least loss from downtime, and will serve to frontload damage the best without relying on any legendaries - as you are generally using survival options if available.

serves as a stopgap for
维尔布兰德族长
if he's swinging at you.
caps it off as a great sustain option that helps to keep you healthy in between the intermittent damage, as the encounter can be quite long. This also allows having the newly buffed
升腾
as a backup in case you are ever forced out of range in a bad situation to still be able to deal with any dangerous mechanics. If you find yourself breaking your CC with
毁灭风暴
feel free to use something else, but it will provide a fair amount of damage as this fight is mostly cleave.
Tactics
The Scenario itself is a council fight at the entrance to the Halls of Valor, containing 3 separate NPCs:

, who you encountered in the artifact unlock quest in 7.2

who was the follow up quest
Lastly
维尔布兰德族长
who completed the chain
The latter two are inactive until you engage
希格林
, which will begin the encounter, and you will have to deal with all 3 of them at the same time.
Periodically throughout the encounter, Odyn's Valkyrs will drop
勇气之球
throughout the arena that heal for a significant amount when interacted with, so use these whenever you feel you are falling behind on health.
All 3 enemies share health, and as such in the latter stages of the encounter they will fall one by one due to their varying health pools:
维尔布兰德族长
has 256mil HP, and will exit the fight first when he reaches 0%
符文先知法尔加
has 293mil HP, and will exit the fight second, again at 0%
希格林
has 342mil HP, and will be very low when the first two are dead due to the shared health pool, and the encounter will end when she reaches 20%.

Generally the melee enemy, but if you move too far out of range will resort to casting
掷斧
, which will launch 3 axes in an arc around the room that can be avoided. When engaged he will generally try to follow you unless you move too far. He has two significant abilities that both need to be dealt with individually:
First is
狂战士之怒
which will increase his damage dealt and attack speed significantly, whilst slowing him by 40%. When this is active, drop
地缚图腾
and stay out of his range.
Second is
剑刃风暴
which can be stunned via
电能图腾
or interrupted with
裂地术
, and should be if possible. If these are both on cooldown, run out of melee range of him until it ends, as it will deal significant damage each second whilst nearby and drag you toward him.
符文先知法尔加
As the caster of the council, Faljar will repeatedly cast
暗影箭
on you throughout the encounter as his form of attack. This can be interrupted fairly aggressively to reduce damage, as other things requiring your interrupt have a significant cast time to allow it to recharge. Faljar again comes with two significant abilities to deal with:
Firstly
符文引爆
, that will spawn 3 runes around the central circle of varying sizes, that will shrink at different rates. You need to immediately run over each of these runes (ideally in the order of size) to prevent them detonating, which will deal significant damage and require fast recovery if they do so. If multiple runes explode it will be lethal, so this requires immediate attention.
幽魂步
is great for getting this done quickly.
Second comes

, which is coupled with a 6 million health shield upon activation. You need to quickly burn this shield down and interrupt him within the 20 second cast, as the damage will be lethal if it completes. This is the only real damage check in the fight, so if you find yourself struggling save
毁灭之风
or other cooldowns for this.

Finally, the primary target comes in the form of Sigryn, who will engage you in melee. Throughout the fight she will cast
投掷长矛
that will leave a damaging Fel patch on the ground, so whilst active the room will become significantly more limited. Due to this, Sigryn is CC vulnerable and as such you should be using
妖术
to remove her from the equation as much as possible - though this is limited by diminishing returns. Ideally, you should drag Sigryn to an empty corner of the room and Hex her there, and then 20 seconds after she exits; re-apply this in the same fashion to limit her impact on the fight. If you are reasonably geared you can leave her in the fight and simply hex her when she casts
邪父之血
and wait for it to fall off being incredibly careful not to break the CC as you won't be able to re-apply it if you break it. This allows you to use her for additional cleave to end the encounter even faster. Either option of dealing with her is valid. Be wary as certain DoT effects or Neck enchants can break Hex.
When she is active, she has two significant mechanics to deal with:
黑暗之翼
will summon a wave of Dark Valkyr at the North, South, East or West edge of the room with one gap in their ranks. You need to find this and stand in it before they rush across the room and deal massive damage to you if you are hit by them as they charge across.
邪父之血
will apply pulsing AoE effect to Sigryn that will ramp up each second, but can be removed by using
妖术
. If this is cast, you should immediately Hex her to remove this from the equation, as it will quickly push you too far out of recovery range. This is also the reason you should be very careful about impacting the diminishing returns, as you may find yourself unable to re-apply this if you are too aggressive and be overrun by the damage.
Tips & Tricks
The most important aspect to this challenge is not to panic over different effects. Damage is not a primary factor, and instead executing mechanics and survival will lead to success much easier. Making sure to catch up with both
and
when you take any unintended hits instead of focusing on damage will increase your sustain significantly and alleviate a lot of pressure from the encounter.
As another note, it doesn't matter at all which enemy you target, just hit whichever is closer to you and is most comfortable, and if possible making use of
毁灭闪电
if you can stack more than one together, as long as this doesn't risk breaking Crowd Control.
- The key to this fight is dealing with
邪父之血
correctly, if you can manage this ability either through chain CCing her in a corner and waiting for DR, or simply CCing her when she casts the ability and waiting for it to fall off. Everything else is relatively simple to deal with in the enhancement shamans kit.
- Use

when you feel you are falling behind to stave off some of the damage and heal back up via the

to quickly eliminate Runes spawned by the Runeseer

Thanks for the guide. One seemingly minor tip (but important) is to not interrupt ancestral knowledge right away when you get the shield down but rather wait until right before the cast completes. Knocking the shield off early can get you 10 to 15 seconds of free dps where Runeseer Faljar is not casting shadowbolt (or another ancestral knowledge), which speeds this fight up considerably.
I would also suggest not attacking the Runeseer for the short times that Sigryn is out of hex. You don't want fel patches all over him when you need to get through ancestral knowledge. Hit her and Jarl away from the Runeseer until hex DR is up, switching back to the Runeseer only for ancestral knowledge.

One thing I wish any guide for this challenge (as enhancement) would be clear about is how to keep the Runeseer and Velbrand separate. Perhaps I'm doing something horribly wrong, but no matter what I seem to do, after Velbrand's berserker rage is over, he runs towards the Runeseer, plops himself there, and starts throwing axes. If I attempt to go close enough to the Runeseer to pull him away from Velbrand, it doesn't work as Velbrand just switches to melee and follows me, too.
This isn't an issue for the first 20%~ of the encounter's hp, but after that when dark wings and ancestral knowledge start activating at increasingly regular intervals it becomes nearly impossible to stay alive while doing damage to at least one of the group, when the two of them are constantly next to each other, and Sigryn is hexed (thus no damage to her). Sigryn I have no trouble with directly cause she is hexed for the majority of the fight, however her dark wings attack does seem to bug out for me occasionally, though. I often find myself unable to see the val'kyr she summons, only the *swoosh* effect they have when moving across the screen.
Perhaps that is intended, but whether it is or isn't, the real issue I seem to have is just spacing between Valbrand and Runeseer. I can do enough damage during the ancestral knowledge phases, run fast enough to get all the runes, and dodge the val'kyr with relative ease (again, sometimes their models simply do not appear, and the only indication I have that Dark Wings is active is Sigryn's voiceline, and the purple lines that fly by when they move across the arena. Doesn't happen every single time Dark Wings is cast, but it happens enough that I've noticed it).
Didn't mean for this to become a "here is everything I have trouble with" post, but I guess it did become that. Maybe I should just wait on the challenge until I'm above 900 ilvl or have better legendaries (only have 2 since the beginning of Legion. I love legendaries so, so much /s).
Anyways, guide is pretty good; helped me learn the mechanics, which is exactly what a guide should do. Again, I seem to be having problems with spacing the Runeseer and Valbrand away from each other, but seeing how I haven't seen anyone else complain about that, it's probably just me.

This is one of those things like the warlock green fire quest that really can make you toss your mouse across the room if you make even one slight mistake in maximizing your abilities.
Like the warlock quest, I'm expecting many, many, many deaths on it but I'll get it done someday.
The fact remains, it's 100% do-able- just don't give up.

so this is bugged, i stood on a rune 3 times and it just got smaller and exploded, nice hit detection

Some parts seem incorrect, maybe Blizzard did some stealth changes.
Sundering doesn't do much, neither Bladestorm nor Ancestral Knowledge can be interrupted by it. In fact Ancestral Knowledge can only be interrupted by Wind Shear.

Warning: Both Hidden Satyr neck enchant and the Torment the Weak relic option from the Crucible may (most likely will) break the initial Hex on Sigryn if you pull her away with Lightning Bolt! For a safe pull, use Purge to pull her away from the other two, as this doesn't proc either effect.

This will target Sigryn and hex him and then start your Stopwatch timer for 85 seconds. Once the timer is done you can safely reapply Hex to combat DR

I also noticed Sundering does not actually do any interrupting, so don't rely on it to help you during Bladestorm. I'd just ghost wolf and run out if LST is on CD

Runeseer Faljar spawns purple runes, some times three, sometimes two, occasionally very hard to spot under other special effects, and I suspect occasionally they became invisible under the floor, likely a bug.

Great guide! I did it first try with no clue as to how to enhance and with a fully-loaded artifact.
- I made weakauras to track the Landslide and Flametongue buffs
- pressed other keys randomly
- ignored Sigryn (other than hexing her for the Blood of the Father)
- used CDs (Ascendance, Bloodlust, Ascendance) for the Ancestral Knowledge
- ran over runes and tried to avoid Valkyrs
- tried to keep them together, but not really focusing on it
I had settled in for a long afternoon of learning the fight ... but killed it on my first attempt. Hurray!
