Destruction Warlock Macros, Addons, and WeakAuras
This section of the Destruction Warlock guide provides some helpful macro and addon suggestions as well as information on how to make a macro and use Wowhead to create Weakauras. This guide is originally written by Pyromancer but will now be maintained Loozy. You can find me on my
or on the Warlock Discord.
Rotation & Abilities
Macros & Addons
This macro allows you to cast
on a raid member in your frames by purely hovering over his raid frame. If you are not hovering with your mouse over any friendly target you are casting Soulstone on yourself.
/cast Havoc; Havoc
This macro allows you to cast
on the target you are hovering with your cursor, otherwise it casts
on your target.
How to Make a Macro
To open up the Macro menu, type "/macro" or "/m".
Choose between the "General" and Character-specific macro tabs. Then click on the "New" button on the macro window.
Choose a Name and an Icon so you can easily recognize your macro, then click on "Okay."
Select your macro's icon from the list at the top of the macro window, and then click in the text area below. Type or copy/paste your macro into the text area.
When you are finished, click the "Save" button, and to close the window, click "Exit".
BossMods: BossMods are addons that show you timer of upcoming boss abilities and make noices if you stand in fire. You can choose between Deadly Boss Mods and BigWigs. I would recommend BigWigs.
WeakAuras 2: WeakAuras 2 is an allround addon that lets you track buffs, debuffs or dots and a lot of other things. You can even make a rage bar for example. I highly recommend it. You can easily import auras from other players. After the heroic week I will upload my own auras.
Damage meter: Skada or Details are the perfect addons to let you check the damage you and your raid member do. These addons are also useful to track interrupts, dispels or deaths.
Download UI: If you don't want to make your own UI you can also download UI packages. I have two recommendations:
ElvUI: ElvUI is a complete replacement for the standard Blizzard UI that is very easy to configure and a lot of high-end raiders are using.
I also offer my UI. You can find a link to a video where I explain how to get it
I can also recommend the Curse Client to keep your Addons up to date.
WeakAuras on Wowhead
WeakAuras is a handy addon that flashes a useful alert onto your screen related to important abilities--cooldowns, durations, etc. However, it can be tricky to configure especially if you're new to it, so we've set up basic Weak Aura customizations for every player spell, including intelligent default auras.
Just visit a spell page (
) and click on the red "WeakAuras Export" button to open the panel up. Click "Copy" for our default aura, or "Customize" to easily change your alerts!
