Pummel
Intimidating Shout
Counter Spell
Die by the sword
Barely managed to get him to 49%.

Killed him in 3 tries as a 146 ilvl Blood Death Knight.
Cromwell appears to have few abilities.
Dark Bolt Volley
: Hits for a decent chunk of health.
Dread Plague
: DoT de-buff effect that hits for a mild amount. Duration: unknown (<10 seconds). Cleansable: unknown. This DoT killed my Decayfly Hatchling pets.
Unnatural Power
: Appears to be a stacking buff for Cromwell. I don't know how often he casts this. I killed him when he was at 11 stacks and boy-howdy he was hitting hard; e.g. melee hits went from 1k to 4k each. Purgeable: unknown.
Crippling Burst
: Another de-buff effect. Duration: unknown (<10 seconds). Cleansable: unknown.
Recommend prioritizing your interrupts with
Dread Plague
and
Crippling Burst
as your priorities. I alternated defensives for
Dark Bolt Volley
and face tanked them.
Cromwell drops growing, blood pools that do not appear to dissipate; I think that Dark Bolt Volley might be their source. I tried to kite him within the platform he is on and ran out of room. He can be kited the whole room and I had to use quite a bit of it.
I used my Kyrian Phial of Serenity and a Rejuvenating Siphoned Essence, there is a vendor just inside the portal to repair and buy consumables.

I would agree, this seems to feel VERY overtuned for first week, nonetheless the first climb end boss. Couldn't get below ~25% before DOTs end up killing me, even with interrupts...

Just came here to look for tactics because he was a named mob, i thought i was some kind of special encounter.
Im a 148 Havoc DH, bought the plundered anima items with my leftover anima that give a random ability and picked the following:
The ability that makes your next 3 glaive throw reduce your enemies to 50% Works on the bosses!
Hope this helps out all DHs perhaps save one of these for the end boss who is apearantly overtuned for the first week, made it a cake walk for me.
4 deaths left. didnt go under 80% on this boss, dont hate me please! :D

I had to try 2 times to get this.
Fury warrior, the first time I was choosing mostly DMG powers and had a very bad time (~60% at best).
Second time around I picked up some defensive ones and it was extremely easy.
If you fail, go again and try doing something different! :)

As Arms Warrior (item level 144) this guy is quite difficult to solo.
You need very good gear or an overpowered anima power combo to solo him.
Keep and eye out for
须臾狂乱药水
on the vendor before the boss. If you don't beat the boss using that potion (you can only buy one and that's if it's even available on your run) it's basically game over.
I had to do three whole runs and finally beat Upper Reaches layer 3 solo by defeating Arch-Suppressor Laguas.

This fight was really hard, I did 3 attempts as a balance druid, running, rooting, hiding, interrupting, forces of nature, healing, kiteing, crying, crafting speed pots..
In the end what killed him was standing still and nukeing him so he never got that many spells off on me..
Still, feels overtuned.

Completed this guy on week one as a solo Fire Mage, ilvl 149, had double Blazing Barrier buff and just kited him around the pillars to interrupt his casting while throwing instants and stopping to cast where I could, the fight was extremely sloppy overall and even forgot to use a healing potion.

Managed it as a IL 148 prot pally, with only a handful of upgrades none purchased from the vendor. As suggested by Zadeshikal the main things to interrupt are Dread Plague and Crippling Burst.
This is probably only indicative of tank classes, or maybe classes that can have their pets tank for them.

It took me 9 attempts to kill this boss, I could get him to about 50% really easily but then you cant cc and he combos you quickly, I was 175 balance druid and spent 90% of the fight booking it and catching a heal when he was out of range, I had to run him around one of the giant torches until my big cds were ready and keep my dots going. This boss was ridiculously harder than anything I've experienced yet in SL.

It really comes down to what bonuses you get for a lot of classes. Beating my head against this boss for a while, he kept popping up on second level on the second floor thing. Finally managed to kill him as a frost DK when I got a bonus that whenever you do frost damage to an enemy there is a chance to knock 20% health off the enemy. Pretty sure it was their full health because he died so quickly I thought I had glitched something, but yeah some of the bonus buffs you can get are just insane.

Not sure if intended, but the smoke bombs you can buy for 35 phantasma make this fight stupid easy.
If you fight him inside the smoke, all of his attacks will miss.

Did this as a balance druid with 160 ilvl gear as night fae in 15 seconds.
Got very lucky on anima powers and it only took 15 seconds to kill (2x 50% damage increases). So it died during my CD's. I was running night fae as well so that helped the burst. If you find it too hard, just restart torghast until you get at least 1x 50% damage amp.
Only had 2 interrupts (solar beam and typhoon) and would have killed him fine without the interrupts providing i had at least 1x 50% damage increase from powers.
The key with these bosses is to not try to kite and waste DPS. You have <1:30 to kill him. Even if you do somehow interrupt all his casts to prevent him debuffing you, he also has a buff he is placing on himself which quickly ramps up the damage of the fight
For talents pick:
treants
renewal
resto affinity
incarnation
twin moons - chose this for simplicity (not a balance main)
solstice - chose this for simplicitiy (not a balance main)
Make sure to bring drums, potion, flask. Bind potion and drums to a spell with a macro if you want an easy life. For example I bound them to incarnation in a macro.
wrath > wrath > moonfire > sunfire > treants > incarnation > starsurge > convoke > starsurge > pew pew pew > move to cancel casts and inerrupt crippling burst as its a huge dps loss for you (50% intellect) > pew pew pew. He should get to around 30% by the time incarnation runs out.
At this point feel free to throw any heals on yourself such as regrowth / renewal / swiftmend as needed. Just remember to go back into moonkin form after swiftmend. Keep blasting and try and interrupt 1 more crippling burst if possible.
Again: Keep kiting to a minimum. Its a waste of time as he has another ability that will keep buffing him.

Did this man on my 149 Frost DK. He's fairly tough and took me 5 tries (on my last life no less).
I found that interrupting Dread Plague completely with Mind Freeze was the strat that let me live, all while endlessly using Obliterate and Death Strike along with whatever heals and cooldowns you may have. Also used Death Grip to interrupt Volley, but Dread Plague was my priority to interrupt. Crippling Bursts might also be something to interrupt, but they didn't do a whole lot of damage to me personally.
Not impossible, but for sure a surprisingly difficult and overtuned fight considering how easy it was up to that point.
(This was Layer 3 btw, had no idea you could get these guys on various layers.)

Managed this as a 147 Balance Druid (somehow) and it was fairly difficult, wouldn't recommend doing. xD
I used Solar Beam, Mighty Bash, and Cyclone to interrupt his spells and get myself breathing room to heal up.
As long as he is in solar beam, he'll be interrupted but if your not close he will just come to punch you physically which also results in him leaving the beam.
Mighty Bash stuns him, which is helpful to either get out some damage or heal up.
Cyclone does make him immune to damage but its helpful to give breathing space and allowing you to heal up, and it does not have a cooldown although the mana cost is 1000.
I also used Force of Nature to draw aggro off of my character and onto the three treants, which again gave me breathing space to heal.
I pretty much spammed cyclone a lot since it had no cooldown and just kept healing up.

"Blinding Smoke Capsules" are a MUST for this guy, when you use this item (which can be bought at the vendor before him on floor 6), they miss EVERY ATTACK AND SPELL for 30 seconds. The cooldown is ONLY 10 seconds as well, and I was able to buy 5 of them, essentially locking out the last boss the entire time. STOP the headaches trying to beat this boss without these capsules, I was so frustrated earlier trying to kill this guy without them and gave up. Went back in and bought the capsules, and it was a cake walk. When I went back in I got Gherus the Chained instead but it worked tremendously on him too.

Keep in mind when your fighting him that 'Dread Plague' is not targeted on you, its cast around him in a small circle once he starts casting it GTFO away from him save your interrupts for the other dot cast.

I just wiped on this in a 3-person group with an average ilvl of 175. We sneezed through the first 5 floor and this was a hard stop. Brew monk and an arms + fury warrior pair. His magic damage tore through me (monk) like nothing. Interrupting just Dread Plague and Crippling Burst did nothing. We could barely get down to 40% on our best attempt.
So glad Shadowlands was delayed so tuning could be done!

Solo killed him today on layer 3 as ilvl 152 Night Fae Feral Druid, but it was tight.
Getting 50% damage/healing for Convoke is important, if you get multiple you are set. Also the Convoke casts "better" spells more often one.
For healing take the one that empowers your Swiftmend when you shift and 20% more healing (it also increases Bite damage). Swiftmend healed me for like 2/3 of my hp.
Skull Bash>Mighty Bash>Maim to stop the bolt thing. Tank a couple in between and heal with Swiftmend. Convoke will take care of 50%+ of his hp.
Feral druid is easy mode.

My first time against him as a Fury Warrior - Got destroyed, but admittedly I had powers that weren't so great. Whatever.
Second time - I had plenty of good powers, sustain through healthstones, Kyrian potion, the vendor's potion, etc. STILL got destroyed.
Third time - I got the Scratched Knife (10000% bonus damage on Shattering Throw if it's the first ability you use to damage a new target) and that brought him down to below 40% and was enough to get him down. Don't see it being possible otherwise. (Edit: the Shattering Throw Power was since nerfed to only do 4000% bonus damage and doesn't even work on bosses anymore.)
This fight is really, really bad. As a Warrior, you can't spell reflect a majority of the spells he throws out and even if you play as smart you're going to eat a Shadow Volley which is the main problem with this fight imo. There are a few ways to interrupt it, like Shrieking Flagon's displacement being a way to interrupt stuff if Interrupt or Intimidating Shout aren't up, but even that is pretty hit or miss.
I really just wish more stuff was spell reflectable.

Either all that are complaining about the over tuning of this boss were on Layer 2 or 3, or the boss has been nerfed. If it's the former then it would be helpful if you would state as such. I easily soloed him on Layer 1 with a 151 Fury Warrior. Besides the Blood Pools, he didn't cast anything that needed interrupted.

This fight honestly pissed me off so much, Torghast boss battles feel extremely overtuned in general, but this one takes the cake.
I had a power that reduced the casting speed of enemies that were close, I had a ton of powers that increased my stats and still he bodied me, as a damn rogue I didn't have enough CC and interrupts to stop all of his dread plagues and crippling bursts,
EDIT: alright after venting, I somehow managed to beat him after a total of like... 15 tries. 163 ilvl Rogue, layer 3.
How did I manage to get that many tries? Simple, for some reason he's the only boss I came across so far that doesn't have stealth detection, so after I hit my last death I would just vanish to reset the fight and try again (this resets your cooldowns like a raid boss).
Other than that? I don't really have other tips to give you, if you're a class that can drop combat just try to abuse that to get as many tries as you can. And if you have to choose between getting hit by dread plague or the cripple, 100% go for the cripple.

prot pally, i-level 142. 26 stacks of Soul Remnant's Blessing. Fairly easy solo fight on level 2 Upper Reaches (boss had 200k health)
We have lots of interrupts, Rebuke, Hammer of Justice, Divine Toll (Kyrian), Avenger's Shield and Blinding Light.
Anima Powers with nice effects:
Phial of Light makes Phial of Serenity heal another 25% bringing it to 45%.
Thread of Beads makes next 3 Lay on of Hands no cooldown. Add Radiant Essence that increases damage by 25% when you have forbearance, so just pop a lay on of hands at start along with Avenging Wrath, and you have a prot Pally that deals amazing damage (I was doing 2.2K dps).
As said, move out of ground effects, and just burn him down quickly so he doesn't get too many stacks of Unnatural Power.
Good Luck

Pretty easy with the right tools, but that requires great luck...
Frost DK, 156 iLVL. I had 30% extra damage, and 30% less received damage during the whole fight:
I had 30 extra damage from potion.
I had Icebound fortitude, 30% less incoming damage.
I had Icebound fortitude to activate, anytime I interrupt with Mind freeze.
I had shortened CD on Mind freeze, whenever I interrupt.
I finished the fight with 100% health. There is another great power, when your Death grip also interrupts, I had it on my previous tries where I actually failed. Smoke thingy didn't work for me. It was level 2.

Just got him down with Assassination Rogue after a bunch of tries, what basically worked for me was dotting him up with poisons and bleeds then kiting like a mile across the map while CDs came back up, then shadow step back in, stun, dot up and repeat. Not sure if this is how the fight was intended but it worked, I was nearly full health when he went down too. The area they give you for this fight is huge so use it if you need to.

Some tips:
Respec in Venari bubbles - get survivability, interrupts, etc.
You can tell what the end boss is going to be at first vendor. Look for the hologram and you can plan purchases.
Pretty much every ability can be interrupted, and bosses can be stunned.
Torghast skills are random but try and get ones that will work on the last boss... start of level, after kill, first engage etc. are not helpful for a single strong target
Make sure to clear each level for maximum purchase power, hidden chests, skill drops from rares, and help finding lost pets for inmates.
Look for grapple points, jumping options, and chains you can run up. There's often a couple semi-hidden bonuses that will help with your run. And once you've seen it you should be able to spot that bonus every other run.

This guy has been severely neutered since many of these comments were written. He only casts 2 spells now, the volley and "mass slow" (I think it was called). Granted I got some powers as a blood dk that made it further trivial such as a 6 second cd mind freeze as long as i interrupt something and automatic Icebound Fortitude when an interrupt lands as well as lots of max HP buffs and self healing talent choices. He still does the puddles on the ground and does melee pretty hard at higher tiers but he seems more doable now at least. Good luck in there!

I know this guy is probably very easy now, but as a subtlety rogue ilvl 160something I just cannot beat him, even on layer 2 (he has about 260k health on that layer). I can avoid the puddles, but he hits me melee for 4k-7k and his shadow bolt hits me for about the same. With 25k health and hardly any health regain, that's a challenge...
Torghast is proving to be a very polarizing experience. On the regular floors it's really fun and I can take layer 4, maybe 5. But the bosses.... oh man. This boss was on layer 2 and I still can't beat him. Very annoying. Maybe they could add an option where you can opt out of the boss and leave Torghast with half of the soul ash or something. Or add an option where you can ask for help like in Dark Souls.

ilvl 193 Havoc DH. on layer 8 his melee hits hit for atleast 5-6k each time and crit to up to 16k with the torment going on right now. Can't get him below 30% before I drop like a fly (30k hp and lose like 70-80% hp every 2-3 seconds at that stage of the fight). Cannot sustain that amount of incoming damage. Cast are no issue due to interrupts and CC but the auto attacks are very punishing for melee classes.
No max health or increased healing anima powers dropped or were available for me, but shouldnt be a requirement to down a boss.
Edit: I hit some insane rng luck with my last try where all my chaos strikes spawned souls and managed to down him with only a few % health remaining and no cd's.

If you get the Shroud ability where things cant target inside/outside of the shroud, you can run away every single time he casts a spell and be practically immune. His melee hits still hurts a lot though, but I found him laughably easy on Layer 8 due to shroud.

Used the vendor sold potion, used a flask, used drums, popping everything to get him down, lowest I got him was 16%
He ignores several anima powers like: the oppressive crown that should reduce his casting, movement and melee speeds within 15 yards of me
and the enigma thing that should make him unable to target me when he's outside of it.
He still shoots / casts his spells and murders my face.
I've staggered my cd's to use boon of the ascended as a heal, for the 100% heal and then let loose on him, similar with all my other cd's, drank phials etc. etc. etc.

- Generate as much holy power as possible
- Don't bother using Shield of the Righteous much since most his damage is magic
- Use Word of Glory every time you're at 50% health or lower
- HoJ him whenever possible
- Use Blessing of Freedom when he uses mass slow to back out of aoe stuff
- Save your big CDs for when he has 10+ stacks on him since that's when he'll hurt most.

Finally got this guy on a 185 blood dk. The only way its possible is with the anima power that makes your death gate summon an ebon knight. He will tank the boss for you and puts down a lot of AMZs. Jump in his AMZs to avoid volley when brain freeze is down. Even then you need to keep deathgripping the boss so your knight wont stand in the red puddles. Otherwise your knight dies too fast. Super, super hard boss, even after the nerf.

On 184 iLVL Retribution Paladin Torghast Tier 7 :
I recommend you having Repentance talent, which helps to stun him, run away and heal back. Use it together with Hammer of Justice and any race abilities if you have to stun him. It was pretty hard on 7th tier, not gonna lie, but just pop everything at the start, when you get weaker later and he starts dealing a lot of damage, just stun him while he is low and heal back with World of Glory and Flash of Light and Lay on Hands if needed.
MAKE SURE TO AVOID THE BLOOD POOLS.

This boss is still far far too overtuned for melee DPS. The puddles make it impossible for melee to engage before you run out of space and time. Kiting gets you killed by the bolts.

Took my fury warrior in and used every death on him, then restocked and went back. I lucked out with the utility that causes (Rivendreth's) Condemn to knock down on every use, the utility allowing it's use no matter the enemy health and the spell allowing me to not have to use rage for 1.5 min.
That's what it took to save me. It was the exact opposite of my first trip, but that worked like a charm.

Fight took 25 seconds and I ran him over.
I feel for everyone having trouble with him. What little of the fight I saw his mass shadow bolt hit me pretty hard but I used a defensive cooldown and it wasn't an issue again. His cast of Mass Slow went off right before he died so I couldn't tell you how troublesome it was. If you're having troubles with Torghast, Highly recommend asking a demo lock friend to come with you (or me! I love Torghast) and hope they get one of their crack anima powers. The rest of the run becomes an I Win button.

As Druid Guardian a 187iLvl on Layer 8 Floor 6, with some reasonable anima ablities and using 4 smoke bombs fighting close I still get killed at around 25% blowing drums, convoke and berserk at start. His melee hit hard and standing in any circle which is easy when it gets all around just means it's v tough as melee and tank is not sufficient to withstand the hits with stacks.
Figuring I had nothing left to lose with no smoke bombs left, I just cast HoTs for start and just spammed him with Moonfire while moving backward down the stairs and around the room. Interupted the Slow and a few of the bolts but mainly just hit him enough to keep DoTs up and kept walking backwards spamming Moonfire; using heals as they came up. Killed him fairly easily this way.
Mainly for two things. I had three stacks of
静谧正午饮剂
which have the Moonfire some decent damage and the fact that his melee hits are nasty over time so kiting helps a lot with this as he stops to cast as he moves gives some respite. And you avoid the circles as you kite around. Your higher health helps to soak any of the bolts and just interupt and apply the DoTs then keep moving seemed to do it.

As a 193 Ret Paladin, it took me many tries to beat him on layer 7. The approach that made me finally succeed was to prioritize healing over doing damage, i.e. I used most of my Holy Power to cast Word of Glory rather than Templar's Verdict. Because he has so many hard-hitting abilities that could two- or three-shot me, it was important to keep my health topped of all the time.

Did this fight the first try, and I am not nearly as good a player as most people. Choosing the upgrade that had high chance to heal for 15% of health (3 applications of 5%) made a huge difference. Then just kite him around and stay out of the circles, and your damage kills him. I ended up at 95% health at the end.

This is the boss i got at floor 18 after being in here for almost 2 hours to do a simple quest to find some trinket for Anduin - this guy appears and just gibs me and I died 5 times before I got yeeted out of the dungeon.
Thanks alot blizzard for making a simple fetch quest ON LAYER 1 so impossible.
You guys are so stunning at blizzard, with just a hint of brave.

Just cruised through 18 floors of Twisting Corridors. It was easier than a normal 6 layer wing. No stress, not one death. And then I wipe 8 times on this boss. This is a bad design. He hits too hard and the hits come too fast. I just couldn't keep up. 4 hours with nothing to show for it. I'm pretty angry.

Just finished Torghast's Twisting Corridors layer one as a mage - solo with last remaining life.
/* Lost one life as I went throught texture while I used blink :/,
another when i fell down from the chain :/
and the rest of them while I was trying to get the boss - Patrician Cromwell - down on my own.*/
First of all there is nothing special at doing that solo, group is always better =).
Important things to follow in case you can't help yourself: (Just don't repeat my mistakes and you will be fine)
Don't use "Ravenous Anima Cell" on Broker Ve'ken or Broker Ve'nott otherwise next time you encounter them, they're laying on the floor dead, so you can't exchange your "Phantasma".
My plan was to finish it as quick as it possible therefore I didn't get much anime powers and as I accidentaly "killed" my vendor, I couldn't buy them.
At the boss, start your rotation as usually, but save all of your "Fire Blasts" for interrupting his "Dark Bolt Volley", renew your "Blazing Barrier" upon being hit by his "Dark Bolt Volley" and as usually move from "#$%^ on the ground" while it apper - just slowly kite the boss, not through the front stairs but from the left or from the right to avoid beeing out of the sight. Use "Shifting Power" to get charges of "Fire Blast" up again, use Alter time when u will know that you have to take one "Dark Bolt of Volley" without your shield - ("Blazing Barrier"), eventually block it with "Ice block" and stay there for whole coldown to minimize coldown for "Fire blast". In case that you won't manage that use Invisibility too flee from batlle withou loosing your life.
Yeah, it's not the hardest boss, but when you spent over hour inside of Twisting Corridors you simple don't wanna waste it for sure and luckily you can overcome this boss without reading this.
Good luck guys. Pantherice

Spent
5 hours
as an Outlaw Rogue doing the Anduin 3 Lion Clues quest.
5 hours, only to wipe on lvl 18 on this guy. Every hit literally took 90% of my HP!
Won't be doing this again for a LONG time. Probably 9.1.
I won't risk
wasting 5 hours for nothing again!

Unless you have at least 200k hp, or some other way to stop one shots(100-150 and increasing over time) every 10-15 seconds AND not get a single melee hit (starting at 100k each), save yourself some time and leave if you see this at floor 15.

I soloed this up to floor 17 with my elemental shammy. My ilvl is 185. I had the boss at floor 18 down to 5% and then I don't know what happened. I wasn't standing in anything and I blocked all the spells I could but suddenly, I just fell over. I spent all 9 lives on this guy and STILL couldn't do it. What a waste of time.

I finally managed to kill it (Pala retri ilvl 191). I couldn´t recognize the spells other people talked in other comments, to me the key was to interrupt Mass slow, avoid the AoE and move him out his initial location into the big room and kite kite kite while using every healing spell I had

Smoke bombs etc not enough to burn it down.
Unless were doing something really wrong id say impossible

I just got this guy on layer 8, floor 18 in Twisting Corridors solo as a Demo warlock.
It had 9.4M hp, while my pet had 700k hp and got one-shot and after that it's pretty much straight to the exit.
All 17 floors before went easy as hell, but this boss is just unreal. All you need is to be lucky and not get him at the last floor.

This absolute !@#$%^& of a boss was on layer 8 TC floor 18. He was the only thing standing between me and my maw mount. Managed to kill him basically due to the stars aligning in my favor.
I'm an arms warrior 204 ilvl, I had managed to boost my hp to around 130k and he still one shot me with literally everything he did thanks to the 30% magic damage buff, even through the condemn absorb. he also had the coldheart buff because I had already restarted the run twice due to getting coldheart and I just thought screw it I'm going for it, so his health was over 10m.
The ONLY reason I managed to do it is because I had a very specific, very broken combination of powers That basically allowed me to knock him down over and over again indefinitely and have a permanent parry shield up blocking all melee attacks and even then he was still able to put his pools on the ground and it was really hard to get him to move so I died twice to that. Died another two times immediately upon pulling him because there seems to be a bug where even though the puddles disappear when you still take damage as though they were there if you don't wait about a minute or two before pulling him again. Luckily on top of all my other broken powers I had one that made it so my interrupt knocked him back and stunned him so it basically came down to me spamming condemn the entire fight to keep knocking him down and pummeling him in a direction where the ground was clear anytime the pools got too close.
I would also point out that I had 4 stacks of a 25% damage boost to condemn along with the power which buffs it by 100% and lets you use it regardless of enemy health and I had a power that made me do 200% extra damage for 4 seconds after charging AND my stats were stupidly high, like 30% of every secondary at least along with about 70 soul remnants so that was 70% strength ANNND my crit damage was boosted by something like 30% AAAANNNDD I had 3 stacks of a power that mad my debuffing shouts apply a 30% damage taken debuff on top of their default effect then got insanely lucky when picking up a power that randomly buffs one of my shouts to last 300% longer because it picked piercing howl so I only had to cast it once at the start of the fight so it didn't interfere with my condemn spamming which was possible only because I had buffed my rage generation to the point where I got like 70 rage from a single auto attack..
So to summarize I had an endlessly spammable 290% buffed condemn(490% 4s after a charge)with a knockdown effect, at least 30% of every secondary stat, about 30-35% extra crit damage at least 70%extra strength and was buffed, oiled, flasked and even popped drums because why not. I'm sure I had even more buffs but this is just what I can recall.
The reason I'm laying out all my stats is to put into perspective just how overtuned this guy is on layer 8. Even being about as OP as you can possibly get on a class and spec that's already pretty OP in torghast to begin with, I would still fall over dead if I gave him even a SINGLE gcd to breathe and there is absolutely zero chance I could have done it if I didn't just happen to be venthyr and didn't get stupidly lucky with my powers.
TL;DR Dude is so overtuned on layer 8 floor 18 that I'm pretty sure only certain class/covenant combos can kill him and even then they have to have all of their most broken anima powers and really good rng. If you don't have a way to indefinitely stun him, don't even bother unless you somehow have over 250k health.

He suddenly took me from 100% to 0 the first time but I got him the 2nd time as a Guardian Druid.
Some things to note.
You can kite him down into the main area as a melee without resetting him. This makes the fight infinitely easier as you have more space to move and drop pools.
CC is your friend.
If you stun him do not run away as he can't defend and take full dmg. use your burst during a stun if you can.
Play to your anima powers strengths.
Mine was moonfire reduces dmg by 10%
Every 20th tick hits with a fullmoon
Roots deal 2k dmg every 1.6 seconds- roots last a max of 6 seconds before DRs start.
Other than that this guy is a DPS race.

The comments in regular Torghast are cute "Oh so easy". I want to see the same people come back (not pally/warrior) on higher levels of twisting corridors, floor 17 or 18, when this boss has 8 million health.... you'll be editing your comment. I got this boss on a lower level of twisting corridors on the 12th floor and was able to blow him up with 2 interrupts (counter/intimidation) and my burst blew him up in the time I did two interrupts on the volley. Easy not because of mechanics, easy because of ability to burst. There is a HUGE difference.
Fast forward to today. 205 BM hunter on level 7, 175k health, final boss (18th floor, just under 8 million health), I had 8 lives total. Not a chance. This is the only non-raid boss I've ever seen that could mow down a clefthoof pet in 1-2 hits. That's the melee. That doesn't even get into the volley yet. The comments about
瓶装谜团
are nonsense. The volley will blow through it doing full damage. I set up not only counter and intimidation, I macroed ice trap to use as an interrupt also. It still wasn't enough. You can't LOS it beside the stairs, even when I tried to feign death to reset the boss, often times my feign would fail (? come on blizz) and I'd be up instantly still in combat with him BOOM dead one hit. I was bursting 150k and holding about 80k sustained but my interrupt CD's are too long to stay on top of the volley, which was hitting for 120k to 200k.
Tried dragging boss down the stairs and running, you can't outrange volley. Tried feigning to avoid volley, didn't matter, it would still hit me on the ground. The best I could do was 60%. And usually it was a lot worse. I had two pulls where I died to a melee attack while in range (? again, what?). The comments about "ignore his slow cast if you are in range, he can't hit you" again, wrong, he was able to slow me while ranged.
I even tried cheesing it by starting/feigning to put up more orbs (anima power that puts out 3 healing orbs for bosses at the start of fight) and it wasn't enough. I had more than 150% speed also. Can't outrun volley.
This guy was my first failure in twisting corridors, as said above, on level 7. I am not sure I could even down him on floor 12, at my current item level soloing, no chance on floor 18.

bad luck - have met this guy twice at level 18 in twisting corridor - once in layer 4, once in layer 7. as a prot pally that steamrolled everything, this is the only boss which i would say is almost impossible to do at level 18 - even with 300k hp, i couldnt do enough dps with all the kiting and interrupting.
has anyone managed to down him at level 18? the biggest advice i have to avoid meeting him on level 18 is to reset your dungeon until you start with upper reaches. he should be much more manageable at level 6. feels bad to go all the way to 18 and see him standing there. :(

The volley will aoe hit your entire health pool. We had Prot pally (208), Resto Druid (205), UH DK (206). We worked through the layers together and by far layer 8 was the most difficult, and this boss on FL 18 was the most difficult boss. You can't miss a single cast and can't stand in a tick of the pools. The volley though...don't listen to anyone else, it's the volley that WILL 1-shot you if missed. We did get it eventually and can thankfully say goodbye to twisting (for now?), but was super stressful.
Good luck on this pita of a boss.

My advice on this guy is to drag him down the stairs so you have a larger area with which to avoid the red/black slow death. Pay attention to where you are and kite him around in a circle. As a ranged it was annoying, he gets right up in your face! I interrupted the Mass Slow where I could.

Layer 1, level 18, Twisting Corridors for Signs of a Lion quest.
I don't know what Blizzard guys think when they design this boss.
Since this is a solo quest you should be able to solo it.
But lets see some numbers:
Patrician Cromwell in the red corner, lvl 62, 3000k life, 9pcs of abilities (5pcs instant cast / 1pc 1,5sec cast / 3pcs 2sec cast).
Me, fury warrior, lvl 60, ilvl 178, around 120k life, 3 interrupts available (pummel 15sec cooldown, warstomp and intimidating shout 1,5min cooldown).
Condemn helps interrupt too, but cannot be cast entire fight.
At 10stacks of Dark Bolt Volley, Cromwell hits you 58k and at 10+ stacks game is over.
Basically you cannot dps and interrupt so fast to bring him down, managing to keep stack under 10.
I don't see the point of cruising solo 17levels (around 2..2,5h) and then hit a wall at last boss (for 3rd clue in this quest).
I'm melee class and i can only imagine how bad scenario is for a low self healing caster class.
But i guess someone from Blizzard missed some math class probably.

I just got this guy on Layer 7, Twisting Corridors on the 18th floor, Sub Rogue ilvl 192. He had about 7,3M hp.
I had 1 life left due to bad RNG with not getting enough HP anima buffs and mobs one-shotting me along the way. I had ~70k hp and from what I could read on here, I was supposed to kick his Crippling ability, so I Iet his
黑暗箭雨
through and it one shot me for 128k the 2nd time it hit. He melee hit me for 50k. A nice waste of 3 hours.
That should teach me to always fish for the 2% hp per Maw Rat anima buff at the start of the run.
Edit: I wonder if bosses like Patrician Cromwell are so overtuned, because Blizzard seemingly first intended Torghast to be a totally cray cray synergy power fest, where you'd do massive damage etc; but then changed their minds and made it much more narrow in the amount of power you can gather, but didn't change the bosses accordingly. That or they just intend for you to get the perfect build/class to beat them.
Edit 2: Lo and behold, I had another Layer 7, Floor 18 run in today with this fella, with better stats, but still couldn't get him down. Either my Shadow Step buff RNG was bad or I was too focused on either interrupting the volley so I stood in his red crap or the other way around. Best try out of the 6 was about 20% before I got hit with a volley that even my Cheat Death couldn't save me from (something like 200k damage vs 103k hp). This boss is madness...
Edit 3: (A couple of months later since I haven't been bothered with Torghast) I played my demon hunter and cleared Layer 7 that way. Decided to give it another go on my rogue (ilvl 199 now) for Layer 8 and guess who waited for me at Floor 18........... I even got 2 tries with the 1½ min immunity buff (more like 1 min because of the time it took to run to him and pull) but my luck with anima powers hadn't been too great so even so I couldn't burn him down before the immunity was over and he got to slap me for 135k melee (had 70k hp).

Layer 4 on a retadin, tried this boss as a kiting fight, and it worked. Kept him moving and he wasn't able to do his longer casts. I think it helped that I had the +3 hammer of wrath anima power, and just kept topping myself up with word of glory whenever needed. Walking backwards, the only thing I had to avoid were his puddles, but the room was large, and I finished the kill before my shield of vengeance 2m cd finished.
...I've noticed a number of the "really tough bosses" like this one work best when you constantly kite-move (such as on The Grand Malleare fight, for example, though that one is much more running around forward, not backing up as I was doing, since you have to be fast to get out of his damage/stun range).

I'm going to post on the actual WoW forums about how overpowered this guy is, and I would encourage everyone else to do the same.

The only way I finished this as an arcane mage was because my blink was (practically) instant. I have ONE interrupt, and he speeds up his casting the longer the fight goes on. When offered, I pick every utility spell I can find (triune ward, healing orbs, increased health), but only got the ward and the orbs, which was why my health was so low. I pulled him at the stairs, slowed him, blinked backwards twice (out of range), popped everything ... He had 3M health, I had 50K. I kept blinking around, summoning mirror images. When he would cast slow, I would let it go through and spend that cast just unloading on him. I also popped ice block, healing myself and freezing him in place. RNG in twisting corridors on the powers is bullcrap.

Literally agree with every single comment on here so totally understand your frustrations. Layer 8 I had the *pleasure* of facing this piece of trash NOT ONLY on floor 12 but floor 18 as well! 205 frost mage with the dream setup (literally, give me 80 anima powers and I'd have picked the exact ones I had). Floor 12 was a bit of a struggle with close on 5.5m health. But floor 18? HAH. YOU FUNNY.
13.1m health, one shot volleys and what seems to be the ability to dispel a frost nova (?). I literally had it set so ANY melee boss physically couldn't touch me (5 secs for 10 secs of unbreakable freeze and 2 charges) As I say, you couldn't pick better powers.
Must have spent about 12 hours on layer 8 alone at this point, all floor 18's have been met with ass bandit casters that you simply cannot do anything about. Blizzard obviously didn't balance this crap but then again why would they? Not only have they never cared for that kinda thing but others have finished TC, they did it so why cant you?
If it wasn't for how amazingly useful that god damn mount it I'd have given this up as a bad job -__- To anyone playing this struggling know you aren't alone. This guy's a complete POS. Simple as.

May have been nerfed? I'm trashy casual and did quite well, although it was only level 4 Upper Reaches. The priority is to avoid standing in the red pools. This is made more challenging by his Slow spell and the frequency with which he drops the pools. If you can soak the damage from the other casts, then just kite.
The aura that slows casting, needless to say, is very useful to have.

Aff Lock with my tank pet at nearly 400k hp and doing about 60k dps together with a Sub Rogue doing about 100k dps and the freakin' bolt one shot me for about 50k+ dmg so no more pet and rogue then dies. Best we could do was to about 10% coz he just wrecked us every time. All that was time for a quest for Anduin ffs. Was enjoying it and then boom, don't feel like playing the game again. I've cleared TC and ran Torghast on 5 different characters now. This guy is easily the hardest boss in there. Today on my 188 balance druid he killed me three times on a level 7 normal clear and I just got him on the 4th try.
For anyone in that boat I suggest kiting your ass off. Using an interupts and heals you can and pray you can do enough dps to kill him. I had convoke and trees come back up when i had like 20% health, popped those, my heals and nuked him, I would have died after that. This guy needs a nerf.

After reading all these comments I was utterly terrified to face this guy. Frost mage, ilevel a mere 171 and I managed to take him down on the first try. I still can't understand how this happened considering he's supposedly really tough to beat and I'm no champion anyway. But I'll share all I can, maybe it'll help any other frost mages reading this.
I had two interrupts, one of them came from
Long-Forbidden Words
("Radiant Spark can be cast instantly and interrupts spellcasting"). I also had
Resolute Medallion
("The absorb of your Barrier spells is increased by 70%") and while it was pretty much useless up until then - it really saved me in this fight.
Also, I've casted
Time Warp
and
Icy Veins
right before the fight, and I picked up
Echoes of Elisande
("Time Warp also increases the rate at which time passes by 30%").
I also had
Sapphire Prism
(Mirror Image summons 1 additional image of you).
I don't remember any other anima powers I had, but these seemed to be most helpful. I had no strategy either so can't share any tips on that, but I hope this'll turn out helpful anyway.

I had the Jump ability - jumping out of range doesn't work - eventually he will one shot you.
IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT.
WOW - start filing for bankruptcy - this WAS a fun game - now I log off and say F*ck it, who wants to spend 4 hours playing only to be robbed of the final reward, I get having to work for something, but you make it impossible - which is SURPRISE - no fun.... Whut are you thinking?

JFC Blizzard. Twisting Corridors, level 8, floor 18 I run into this ...thing... after 2.5 hours. Absolutely impossible. I'm playing a class with an interrupt every 30 seconds, and that's not nearly enough to mitigate his spam shadow volley (which hit me for 100k) at the start of the fight before his stacking buff. Can't outrange it, else I can't attack. Felguard with 2.3 million hp was decimated within 30 seconds.
Failing because of my mistake is acceptable and something to learn from. However this was a complete waste of almost three hours to fail for something beyond a players control.
TLDR: If you find yourself against Patrician Cromwall floor 18, level 8 in patch 9.02. Kiss your butt goodbye.

Seems like one of the main ideas in regard to Torghast, is to make the player wonder whether he's wasting his time or not. Everything is so bloody easy untill you just have to cross your fingers that the last boss is doable. This is the third time I spend more than an hour and end up with a boss that is unbeatable. The other two times I couldn't beat the final boss due to the anima powers that I had chosen - and couldn't remove. This time, the boss was just crazy. Tried everything (kiting, OOS etc) and got him to 16%. Main problem is him simply moving way to fast and hitting way too hard. This is just silly.

Demo Lock TC Layer 8 and this is the final boss. Had 150K hp and my Felguard was over a mil. Didn't matter because even using stuns and coil, you just plain can't interrupt his spam casts of
黑暗箭雨
enough to matter since they do between 140-175K damage. More than enough to 1-shot me despite taking every available health boost power I found and taking nothing that would reduce HP. Even with the power that allowed Unyielding to last a minute and a half, this boss was literally impossible to kill. And once I died the first time it was pretty much over since I lost the 500% damage buff on my Felguard from
地狱亲和契约
. If I'd had the RNG of my layer 7 run and been at over 300k HP and magic damage taken reduction power it MIGHT have been doable. But wasting 2 hours due to bad RNG & the usual Shadowlands overtuning at the literal end of the run is just piss poor design and distinctly unfun. If you see this boss in the broker preview as the final boss, save yourself the frustration and just leave.

I get to this piece of garbage on floor 18 and I get one shot on my 210 demon hunter with a godly build. Is this blizzards fault ? Is it my classes fault? Will it happen if I gear up my shaman too? Where to begin... Solo ret pally (recommended ilvl 170, have 192) came across him on floor 12 and he destroyed me when I first tried him. Okay, maybe I didn't do something right. After another death, I'm on a good shot, LoS his cast, self heal with Word of Glory, pop all my CDs when I can, doesn't help I have the wrong talents, I forgot to change them. Anyways, get him down to 1%, just one more hit, and boom, one shot me from full health and no defensives or anything to stop it, no stuns or interrupts, all the ground around the pillar and steps all covered in goo so can't LoS. Like, come on, one auto-attack or any move away from beating this turd. Only one life left, get him to under 10% and killed me again. No lives left so had to give up. Friggen anoyed. I get if you get stomped and it sucks, but 1%! Faaaar out.

For Twisting Corridors, this guy was a raw health check every time I met him and undoubtedly the "unluckiest" boss to get that I have encountered so far. The final time I met him on layer 8 was with 140K hp as a solo Holy Paladin (having restarted until I got mawrat spices as the first item and selecting every HP choice I was offered) and Coldheart Plume - which halves all the damage received during Avenging Wrath (which was permanent for me thanks to the various extension options and haste that I had acquired). Pulling him away from his AOE puddles was fine as you have a lot of the room to play with, but he hits like an absolute truck. Despite my defensive power (280K effective HP?), every sin bolt volley smashed me well under 40% hp right from the outset - an instant death if I didn't have Coldheart, and as his damage boosting stacks went higher I found myself dropping to 30, then 20% - something made particularly dangerous as his auto attacks are also hard-hitting even compared to other melee-focused bosses.
I found that saving my various stuns and CC's for the later sin bolt volleys was the key to victory in the end, not quite needing to use Divine Shield despite some perilously low dips in HP - but there's no doubt that if I had even a single less HPx3 choice selected, didn't have permanent Coldheart or hadn't restarted until I had mawrat spices at the start - this would have been the end of my run with very little I could do about it. He casts too often to be able to interrupt the volley every single time, and while his dps overall is very manageable as a healer - it's very bursty and its easy to just get popped in a single spell while you still have defensives and healing available. This guy teaches a very painful lesson in Twisting Corridors. Get more health when its offered. Minor bits of damage and gimmicky mobility spells don't stop you from getting oneshot and wasting your last hour or two with no way to overcome the gap.

This guy is one of the reasons I head for the exit on floor 13 of TC, if it shows up as Upper Reaches. It's better use of my time to bail out at that point and cut my losses than to faff around in the top 4 floors of TC only to faceplant into this guy.

Well....this just did it for me....4 hrs in Torghast, no wonder I hate this place and hardly ever play it. Ilvl 201 Destro Warlock...was absolutely tearing this place up until I get to floor 18 and Patrician Cromwell....unbelievable the way this game is so unbalanced. Still....after so many months and updates...still hate this piece of trash dungeon and it's unbelievable no loot after 4 hrs of playing after getting hit with a harder than it needs to be boss. Furthest I got him down was around 35%, his bolts just kept one-shotting me, didn't have enough shields and DPS burst to keep up with the damage he was doing...pathetic game design....could it be the WoW killer? Well, that and all the sex abusers they have working for them going to bankrupt them in court. This game is dead, what a pathetic pathetic pathetic game design...going to take a break before I decide to delete my account for good. Fix your ^&*! Blizzard.

This is still stupidly difficult. 240 prot pally, I pulled the 17th floor in 1 pull. I didn't get a ton of HP boosting powers so was at like 98k. 8 lives used there were several Death Bolt Volleys that hit me for 120k. I managed to kill him on my last pull that that was miraculous and it was almost locking down every single cast of an approx 6 second cd cast. Rebuke, Avengers Shield, Divine toll, hammer of justice. Toll and hammer of wrath stunning. Extreme kiting, multiple LOH, bubble, pots, drums, full buffs. Came down to me prob not being able to take even 1 more hit. I get the challenge, but this boss is just too much. Melees that hit that hard and a cast that frequent that can one shot. I can't even imagine if u didn't have like 30 interrupts a minute.

Just did it on a 228 Prot pally. After i died 4 times, I read these comments and kited him all over the lower area. Once i was able to stay off the blood he drops, i was finally able to kill him. staying up top eventually leaves zero room and that stuff hurts!

So just to add at level 70 and ilvl 360 (which isn't great), this is still very very hard. You can just kite and it goes down quickbly but interrupt when you can and stay out of red stuff, and you will nee some self-heal.
