The "Raptor Boss" is a big pain, but has some neat loot drop (Raptor Mount, Mandokir's Sting, etc).
Strategy:
Form your raid facing him in a semicircle - shoulder to shoulder.
Kill the speaker at the base of the ziggurat and have your MT pull him in.
Have the off tanks take the raptor over to the left and tank him there until the boss is down. If the raptor dies, Mandokir gets an evil buff that doesn't last very long - but does make him hit rather hard.
Have the tank and melee on the raptor boss in front of your semicircle.
During the fight, two interesting things happen:
1. Mondokir will start "Watching" someone. If that person does _anything_ to create threat during this time, Mandokir will charge them. If they die, the Bloodlord will get bigger and meaner (and sometimes yell funny things to the zone). More than a few of these will mean a wipe.
2. Ghosts will stand ready to resurrect players should they die. In general, if you die early in the fight it might be OK to rez. However, if you're already heading toward a wipe, accepting the rez will only add more fuel to the Bloodlord's levelling fire. ;)
Have your raid leaders call out who is being watched (Or get everyone to run a boss mod like BigWhigs or RABoss), and be careful who accepts the ghosts' rez and Mandokir is a fun fight.
PS: If you DO wipe, pay attention to the chat channels after everyone is down. Sometimes some funny exchanges occur among the NPCs.

A few tips our guild picked up...
- After we kill the Raptor, we have mages Detect Magic on Bloodlord, where we can see his enrage. We don't have melee classes move in until after it wears off.
- Have everyone stand on the stone ledge together on the right. The MT tanks Bloodlord near the stone wall, and we stick one Paladin (any class would do) on the far wall across from the raid. The reason is because his charge will go to the furthest person in combat, so he charges the paladin then usually heads off to some random person in the raid. This means he crosses the MT's spot where he will be taunted and tanked, making it much easier.

The way we used to do it, we'd kill the raptor first, and then simply heal the main tank like crazy while Bloodlord's enrage (no, no hunters, that can't be tranquilized) held up. It's very important to have a priest power word: shield the main tank when he gets mortal striked, as that helps keep him alive a bit more until the healers kick in.
As far as I've heard by the way, sometimes Bloodlord would shout: "DING!" whenever he killed someone and levelled. And at times, after shouting "DING!", he'd be congratulated by Jin'Do the Hexxer: "GRATS!"

I would just like to enforce the idea that the raptor should not be killed before Mandokir. Simply have two tanks switch between tanking the raptor by using taunt when they get 3-5 sunders on them (yes, the raptor can sunder you). Have two healers designated to healing those warriors, let them do their thing off in a corner. The raptor is easy to tank and keep on the back burner. Everyone else should concentrate on mandokir, all the dps and everything. It's good to have two tanks on mandokir, too (yes, you should have 4 tanks in a ZG raid, has never failed my guild). Let the main tank get 10 sunders on him. I know it doesn't stack up to ten times, but if you wait for him/her to count up to ten, that should build enough threat on the tank that the dps can go all out (remember, if mandokir watches the main tank, he can't taunt off of you or he'll die!). If the main tank does happen to lose aggro while he's being watched, the second tank on mandokir can taunt (he should already have sundered five times to be second in threat). By switching between tanks like this, and allowing them to build up a stockpile of threat, the fight goes MUCH smoother. My guild is currently working on MC, less than half of our members have 4 or more of their tier 1 pieces, and we still kill mandokir without a single death nearly every time we face him. I'm not saying other strategies don't work, but this is the one I've used every time, and I've never seen it fail.

There is another stratagy but it is probably considered an exploit (although a lot of guild are using it, and blizzard hasn't done anything so... yeah).
Here is what you do: First, you have a mage sheep the ambassador. Then you have the entire raid (except the main tank) run up the staircase and then jump down onto the little ledge. Then, you have the MT kill the ambassador. Then the boss will aggro the tank. The raptor, however, will just sit there and stare at you funny while the raid beats down on the boss using ranged attacks. If he watches someone, that person just immediately stops DPS. They SHOULD be fine if they stop right away. If they get teleported, they just run back up the i stairs and hop back down to the ledge. This effectively takes the raptor out of the encounter, and you only have to deal with the boss. Once the boss is down, everyone (and I mean everyone) hops down on to the ground and takes out the raptor.

It has always seemed to me that Mandokir was too much of a total hardass to care about anyone's strategy. In the very beginning of ZG you could bug his raptor out on the fence. Later they removed the fence, and people began to bug his raptor out on his temple. Both of these methods are dubious at best, and not honorable in the least. After the fence was removed players who still feared the unending wrath of the Bloodlord tried standing behind the few remain spikes in a vien effort to waylay Mandokir. It doesn't work. He doesn't care about your tricks and he doesn't care about you. The trick of the fight is that Blizzard realized how tough and awesome Bloodlord is, and added the Chained Spirits. They let you resurrect during the fight, but everytime someone dies Bloodlord's power grows, and so does he. So depending on your raids gear, and overall skill level you can't take too many deaths. All in all the best strategy is to have an offtank hold the raptor while you dps it down, and have your entire raid spread out far from each other. This way when Bloodlord charges and then AoE fears, everyone won't be caught in it. After that you basically dps him down, watching out for aggro drops when he intercepts, and the occasional shout out.
After wiping using silly tricks and schemes you may harken back to the words of ole' Vanndar Stormpike "Why don't you try without your cheap tactics, pansies? Or are ya too chicken?"

You can esay kill him with lvl 70, get a tank and a healer maybe some dps guy
- healer get on the pyramid (to avoid charging), kill the raptor first and pray that sunder don't stack to high
- took us 40 mins with prot pally + restro druid, sad no mount drop

Me and 3 friends decided to take him down to see if we could get the mount. We were mostly in blues and a handful of epic gear between us. We had a warrior to tank, Pally healer and a Shadow priest and my hunter dps ing. It took maybe 2 minutes to take out the raptor and a further 10 minutes to take out Mandokir himself. Its easy to do just remember to clear the adds and say a prayer for the mount to drop, which it didnt on our first attempt. Just follow the standard tips for the boss and you'll be fine. I was used as the charge soaker as I could be out of range and it allowed out tank room to intercept him after the charge and try and pull back the aggro.

Very easy to two man. I am resto, full vengeful. The other druid is feral tier 4/5 tanking gear.
We stealth to him (my stealth level is NO problem) then buff up next to the wall with no packs and the troll urn.
He kills the troll to activate the event.
Kill the pet.
Then Bloodlord enrages, this is the hardest part of the fight and your healer should have a PvP trinket equiped as being cahrged, feared, hit, sweeping strike, can hurt a lot.
His "Threatening Gaze" isn't an issue and it's uncommon for the healer to pull agro.
Should take about 40 minutes including stealth running.

i wouldnt say 2manning is per say EASY - but doable with alot of mana regen.
you stealth - or get to w/e the boss and kill troll
the healer gets on the middle ledge under where the raptor boss is
DPSer(tanker) attacking the boss, the raptor will evade onto the healer

Duoed Mandokir; druid/priest.
Didn't bother killing the raptor first, his damage isn't much. Just keep focus on Mandokir and down him. Then kill the raptor. Took us 25 mins including killing some trash on the way in there.

Duo'd him with Rogue tank (Dodge gear, Subtlety spec) and a Paladin healer.
Took 15 minutes or so, bugging out the raptor and putting him into evade..
Dropped Raptor mount first time trying. :-P

Did with the same glitch, on the second terrance, and managed to kill the boss, then raptor. Only problem we found was that the raptor kept swapping targets back to our tank who was below.

just killed him today, didnt know about the glitch so we killed the raptor first, after witch we focused on the bloodlord himself.
the group was a feral druid tank (me) a holy paladin and a hunter.
took us about 10 min to down the boss. its lenghty but doable.
could probably have 2 man him but i doubt our paladin had the mana regen. as he only had 20% mana left when we killed him.
so far no mount yet.

The encounter seems to be bugged with the ghosts not resurrecting holy priests with the Spirit of Redemption talent. A workaround that can be used is to cancel the Spirit of Redemption buff before it runs out. This should make the ghosts once again offer to resurrect you.

With Tier 4+ gear this guy is soloable by warlocks using the pyramid bug to despawn the raptor. Using a Voidwalker, CoW augmented by Improved CoW, Shadow Embrace from Affliction DoTs and the various demon upgrades in the Demo tree, you can mitigate a lot of his damage making it easy to health funnel through his hits. I regularly kill him for a chance at getting the Razzashi Raptor mount.

Reference to Hulk
Inside the Troll instance of Zul'Gurub is a boss by the name of Bloodlord Mandokir. While fighting him, random players will get a message from him saying "Don't make me angry. You won't like it when I'm angry," which is a quote from Bruce Banner before he transforms into the Hulk. If the player decides to attack the Bloodlord after he has given this message, the Bloodlord will charge forward and beat the player to death.

I just soloed him on the BETA with a 50/21 80 BM Hunter. I used a gorilla but any tenacity pet should work, and probably better since the gorillas single target threat isnt the best.
I used the pyramid trick and just kept Mend Pet on the pet and Scorpid Sting on the boss. Mana wasnt an issue thanks to the new AotV. Just throw in a multi-shot to keep the raptor bugged and your golden. I'll be doing this on live every reset to farm for the Raptor Mount and its an easy 35gold.
You dont even have to fight any mobs on the way! I cant wait for 80!

Can be easily, but lengthily, soloed by a warlock. Sneak past the Speaker (the guy you kill before the boss fight) to the left side of the pyramid. There is a little small area next to the stairs on a platform of the pyramid you can stand on. Pull the speaker and kill him, before you could kill him and not pull the boss but they changed it in patch 3.0.2 =(. The speaker is non-elite so you should be good to go (health and mana-wise) the problem is if your not used to doing this you will need to soulstone yourself, die to the boss, and rez. He will reset but at the foot of the pyramid on his dumb raptor that we all want instead of at the top. You should be spec'ed somewhat like
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IZ0gIzsg0AcsghVoV
. Key talents: Demonic Brutality, Imp Health funnel, and Demonic Empowerment with possibly metamorph depending on how much health you have (I'd take it anyways because it'll help you a lot getting into position without freaking out). OMEN IS A MUST HAVE!
So summon your voidwalker, have him stay on the platform, making sure suffering is not on auto-cast. Buff up with fel armor, spellstone, soul link and any other things. Cast a NON-damaging spell on him, like curse of weakness. When he comes and hits you (stay on the platform!) send your voidwalker in on the bloodlord and run up the stairs using metamorph, the raptor should follow you! about half way up to your left there should be a ledge right above where your voidwalker is, if you angle it right (jumping in a downward angle) and jump off to it you should land there. Now here is the hardest part... Whether he bugs or not! Just keep going and hit demo emp, and then suffering. Keep health funnel up. When your voidwalker has at least 100k threat, yes 100 thousand, start casting corruption, curse of agony, immolate and drain life. When you reach near 50% of your VW's threat, soulshatter. Rinse and repeat until the bloodlord is dead. I have 1195 spell damage and this took me 25 minutes (more or less each time) to kill him.
When the bloodlord 'bugs' after you jump on the ledge he will just reset. This is a 50% chance thing but just use your voidwalker to attack him, his pet is bugged; when your voidwalker aggros him he dismounts and his raptor appears at his reset spot but is unmoving and unattackable aparently. He might bug out again and reset several times, just keep having your voidwalker attack him until he stays.
For those having trouble getting past the 4 guards at the door to the bloodlord's room... thing... you can use an invis pot to sneak past.
Original tactic and a good video to help find the 'ledge' and 'platform':
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gixiE1Bo18
. This is obviously pre-patch-3.0.3 so he didn't have demo emp or any of all that goodiness so it took him almost an hour.

Can be easily soloed by a lvl 80 BM Hunter.
I did it few minutes ago and it took me around 6-7 minuts (I had my second Rapid Fire (talended) ready at around 15% of the boss) with a spec 54 17 0.
I just kept AotV active all the time and spammed Mend Pet; used a Worm as a pet, really good as tank and with a good DPS so a perfect mix.
Unfortunately it didn't dropped the mount this time, but I'm going to spend those 5/10 mins every 3 days till it drops ;)

Just managed to solo this as a lvl80 prot warrior. Very difficult boss to manage, so very careful use of timered abilities is required.
I opened with shield block, then as soon as that is over I used shield wall to reduce damage (if used early it'll come up again before he's dead). After I had lost 1.6k health, I used
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44597
and then used it again every time it was off cooldown. As soon as I reached 75% health I used Enraged Regeneration. When ER came off cooldown, I used it again after using Last Stand +
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32501
+ a
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22797
, to increase the amount of hp it regens. Then when shield wall came off cooldown I used it again. Health pot can (and should) be used at any time after the first ER runs out, once your hp is below the maximum the pot could possibly heal.
You should ignore ohgen throughout the fight, and only dps the Bloodlord. Killing the raptor first is definitely not a good idea. Use your max damage abilities as soon as they're off cooldowns as you have to kill him before he kills you. Be sure to keep thunderclap and demoralising shout up on him at all times, and shield block as frequently as possible. And of course, berserker rage out of the fears.

I've been soloing this boss every reset since I hit 80 to hopefully one day get the raptor, and thought I would share how I do this as a level 80 53/18/0 BM Hunter.
First of all, I would highly recommend getting a tanking pet for this, it leaves room for errors and you wont have to keep mend pet up all the time. I myself use a worm, fully specced armor/hp and anything else that will reduce damage taken. That extra healing taken talent is also a good pick-up.
Another thing about the worm is the amazing armor debuff that will be fully stacked for the whole fight, making both you and the pet do much more dmg, obviously resulting in a quicker kill.
Enter ZG, dismiss pet, mount up and run to Mandokir. If you aggroed anything on the way to him, feign death. Wait for feign death cooldown to finish, and nuke down the speaker. Once the speaker is dead, Mandokir will ride down the stairs and after a while aggro you (I think this part is scripted so even at 80 he aggros from huge range). Once you get in combat, feign death again and call your pet.
Put pet on passive, misdirection to pet and shoot him once. Now boss will go for pet and raptor should be going after you. Run midways up the stairs and send pet at boss while raptor is still on you. The reason for fighting him there is so that if/when he fears your pet, it wont be feared into the surrounding packs. Jump off the stairs onto the small plateu on the side of the stairs, beeing in range and LoS for both your pet and the boss. Raptor will still try to hit you, but he can't, and basically this puts him out of the fight forever cause you will keep generating hate towards him healing your pet.
One very important thing, is to still not do anything while under the effect of Threathening Gaze, as you will either get teleported to the boss or he will simply just reset trying to reach you.
Pop cooldowns whenever avalable to make the fight faster, keep misdirecting to pet. You should not feign death at any time during the encounter, as this will make the raptor start stacking sunders on your pet, which will make it lots harder to keep him up.
From here on it is just a matter of keeping pet alive. Mend pet easily outheals his damage, even with his constant mortal strikes.
When Mandokir dies, the raptor despawns after short time, so you will not have to kill him.
No mount for me yet, but I've gotten 4 Polymorph-tomes from Gahz'Ranka and vendoring the blues and epics that drops easily covers the "wasted" time getting there and killing the bosses. Good luck!

Solo'ed it as a Nelf prot warrior.
Something I found useful and that made the whole thing much easier was to shadowmeld a split second before the Watched debuff wore off. He would still charge me and remain in combat, but the raptor would disappear, eventually making it 1v1, without the annoying sunder armors and extra damage.
The rest was all about using mitigation and self-healing abilities when available.

I just soloed him as a level 80 prot pally, only 3 level 80 epics on me, and the rest blue including a BC belt.
Easy, but slightly long fight. I was also able to kill the raptor and do it, as the raptor just kind of died from my shield block and avengers shield, etc.
Anyhow easy to do, but he didn't drop his raptor. Just thought I would let others know, and yes there is a port now if he should get on the ledge or you get on the ledge you get ported to him every time now. However, he blew a fear once and that pushed me into the ledge which caused me to have to fight him there as I was unable to move away without porting.
Oh, and I cleared no trash mobs, not one, minus his speaker at the base of the stairs.

That it wierd teslac, I've killed him 2 times now again after reading your comment on him teleporting you, and have yet to have this happen. Are you absolutely sure you do not do anything while you have the Threathening Gaze debuff? This should be the only time he changes target, so unless you are not in line of sight of him, this seems very odd.
EDIT: Tried to experiment a bit, and found out the following:
If you overaggro your pet, he will teleport you.
If you are not in line of sight when he is
casting
Threathening Gaze, he will teleport you.
If you attack him while under the debuff effect, he will obviously teleport you.
After I got teleported from overaggroing, the raptor despawned. Gonna see if this was a bug or if it happens next time as well.
Been using a 78 gorilla for the last kills as I am specced for raiding now (50/21, so no exotics and 4 less pet points), but as long as you get the +40% healing to pet talent it should be no problem. Just make sure thunderstomp is not on autocast, as it could create threat towards the raptor if you get unlucky with placing it.

Fairly easy to solo as a feral druid as well. I ended up killing the raptor, not by choice, but because I have the maul glyph I couldn't help it. The most important thing is ti fight on top of the ziggaraut (he fears) and to stop everything when he casts his gaze on you - even autoattacks. The guillotine still hits for 2-3k damage, so if you eat them all, you won't be able to last the entire fight.

This guy is a hard solo as a DK. In a mix of naxx/heroic gear. If I ingore the raptor he will eat my alive with the sunders, and my best attempt was when I killed the raptor, but he got me with about a minute left on his enrage, couldn't keep myself up with death strike becaues of the constant fear, and watching you.
Could probably do it if I potted up and stuff though. I imagine he is really easy for a feral tank or prot pal/warrior.

For death knights that want to solo him, you should be using your tanking gear and probably respec deep Blood and pickup Vampiric Blood to counter Mortal Strike Debuff.
I managed to kill him with Blood spec & few tanking talents (57/5/9 build) you should have at least 20k hp & 500+ defense (i have 22k & 507 in blue quest gear). I only sacrifaced my ghoul for extra healing during his enrage.
Save all defensive skills such as trinkets, icebound fortitude to live trough the enrage as you should always kill the raptor first because the sunders will eat you alive. You can call in your Army of the Dead & regular ghoul (free health potion via sacriface), doesnt matter if Mandokir wastes them with his WW - at least his not hitting you for a while. When you live out of his enrage he is easy if you remember to keep your health topped.
Pics or it didn't happen?. Here's two for those that doubt it,

Tauren warrior, 80. The last time I tried it, with lesser gear, I got my ass handed to me. This time I came back with 39,92% blockrating (!) and 45% avoidance, that kind of blockrating achieved with naxx25 items mostly. I also had 31k hp with commanding shout, which I kept up all the time.
The interesting thing is that for me, NOT killing raptor didn't work, so I just went in second time, nuked raptor, used SW and other stuff to outlive enrage and BAM! he died :) was pretty easy.

Yeah, so it seems like the first time I downed this guy was a fluke, because I have been having a lot of trouble with him this reset. Took me four attempts, and here's what I've figured out.
This strat is for ferals, btw.
Kill the raptor first, because Mandokir's enrage only seems to last for about a minute. Killing the raptor first should equate to a lot less damage taken during the fight.
Completely ignore the gaze, as long as he's not enraged. Normally, his gaze hits me for 2k. I dodge at least 50% of them, which makes average gaze damage less than 1k. With imp. leader of the pack, I heal for 1334 every six seconds. So that means if you stop attacking during gaze, you miss a heal, and he outdamages your healing after a while. Of course, none of this applies during enrage because then his guillotine hits for 5k.
Third, every time stoneskin is up you need to use it and shift out to heal. Throw up as many heals as you can w/ stoneskin up, but do not get caught outside of bear form when his guillotine goes off. If you do, gg.
GL soloing this guy.

Just like any other boss in ZG, Bloodlord is soloable by most classes. I myself did it as a Death Knight (Unholy) in Heroic blue/greenies tanking gear and frost presence. Pull him up on the temple so that your Ghoul doesn't get feared into the trash around or else you're in for a nice wipe.
Make sure to have ALL sorts of healing, defense, health increase skills up when he gets enrage and always make sure that you don't have Mortal Strike when you use Death Strike. Pop Army of the Dead when you feel for it.
As the previous comments state: When you're past the Enrage phrase you've pretty much downed him unless you get really unlucky, and you should kill the raptor as the Sunder Armor thingy he gives really pwns your ass.
I found Thekal and his gang lots harder than Bloodlord, but that might be just me. He WILL kill you unless you know what you're doing.

This boss is most definitely not soloable for a shadow priest in great gear (ilevel 200-226). Once the raptor lowers your armor, the boss hits for about 3k+ and you are pretty much dead. (from log: Guillotine hits for 3251, mortal strike hits for 2815) I think only pet classes and tanks can solo this boss.

As a lvl 80 DK
First of all I would like to state: tanking gear is a must, tanking spec isn't.
Seriously, I tried it when I just turned 80, and maybe it had more to do with my skills at that moment then with my gear, but I found it much easier anyway with decent gear.
My gear isn't that awesome, consists of some selfcrafted epics (BS) and drops from naxx, but I have been doing this in my blue tanking gear that I got from BS aswell.
As for a spec - I am not going to give you any examples. Anyone should know that a DK can tank in any spec he wants, but I have been unholy specced since -forever- and always prefered this. Frost or Blood DK's can just continue reading, doesnt matter that much.
I myself find Blade Barrier / Imp. Icy touch / Toughness important, but then again, this differs from player to player depending on playstyle.
I did never use rune tap.
What spells do you use the most? Well, these bosses don't have THAT much HP (except ony, she is still a b*tch imo) so you don't need to do any fancy stuff.
Icy touch, Plague strike, (pestilence if any adds,) death strike are the most important. These will give you enough healthregen to last through the fight. Death and decay/Unholy blight are nice for some extra DPS on multiple targets, and when I have enough runic power I use my Gargoyle.
Bone Shield, Icebound Fortitude, Anti-Magic shell and any other trinkets you might have will help you through some of the difficult moments of a bossfight
I also tend to keep my Ghoul up, since being a Unholy DK will help the dps output of your ghoul, and next to the raw dps its just another panic button combined with Death Pact.
Since the fight is not a dps race, I tend to use these spells primarely, and all just works out fine. This whole thing you can adapt and play around with, depending again on your spec and playstyle, but nevertheless, the IT/PS/DS are the magic combo for your healthregen.
Thiss boss is a bit spicyer, and needs some caution to avoid bugs.
You don't need to clear anything, just run up to where the speaker is, kill this guy, then take mandokir up to the little tower.
1. Cast Bone Armor/Ghoul /Horn of Winter
2. Engage the speaker
3. take Mandokir up the tower use IT/PS/DS, use Pestilence, + Death and Decay and Unholy Blight for as long as the raptor is up. Focus on the raptor first.
4. The moment the raptor dies, Mandokir enrages. Save your CD's and trinkets for this. Use your ghoul as a panicbutton here, the rest of the fight he can just DPS mando
To avoid the boss to bug, you need to watch were you stand.
stand in the back of the area, in the center, and face the stairs. Mando will fear you from time to time and positioning this way will make you run down the stairs, not on to a ledge -> running up ledges makes him bug, wich keeps you in combat and he resets to 100% health.

Tried soloing as a 10naxxgeared protwarrior. I tried various approaches, killing the raptor first, not caring about the gaze, etc etc.
What I found out was the following:
1- threatening gaze is a joke.
2- if you manage to take the raptor down, you take a lot less damage. Those sunders are annoying.
As of yet, I'm calling it "impossible" for a protwarrior. This is a thorn in my side, as i can solo gahzilla and the tiger boss, this would make the trifecta.

Solo'd by a ret pala, using a 1hander & shield with ret armor, seal of light, judgement of light, sacred shield & instant fol everytime possible was enough healing to keep me up, on top of those I only used crusader strike, to conserve mana.

Soloed fairly easily as an unholy DK in 3/5 naxx10 gear and a few crafted epics. Managed to do this with an unglyphed death strike. As soon as you aggro the boss run all the way to the top of the temple and fight there; this way you won't have to worry about pulling any mobs when you get feared. Army of the dead is a great help here.

As a lvl 80 prot warrior, I solo'd him the hard way by keeping the raptor alive. It's pretty doable this way, as long as you debuff him and use your cooldowns wisely.
During the fight there were 2 special trinkets that I used.
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30620
and
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44579
. (They don't share CD's) Also used enraged regeneration and shieldwall, specially early on to reduce dmg and get it up again in the later stage of the fight. Oh and keep a healthpot close, just in case.
Next time the raptor dies first.

I've just killed tiger and raptor, me (holy paladin 80) and a blood DK (80 too) alone, and they died as if they were made of paper... So, if you have a friend that doesn't mind that you keep the mount, like me :P, do it whit someone, it's extremely easy.

Just soloed this boss on my druid and I got the mount! Only after 4 runs so lucky me :P

I did kill the raptor first, just make sure to save ur Barkskin and dodge trinket for the enrage, and if needed use Frenzied Regeneration.
Been doing Tiger boss aswell but no luck so far.

The " easiest " way of doing him on a hunter, as has been mentioned here before I think, is abusing the litle piramide to completely put Ohgan out of the picture.
This way there is no worrying about enrage or* ignore armor debuffs, simple tank and spank fight.
Here's a visual aid for those unsure how to kill him this way :

Soloed as a resto shaman in all Wotlk epics. 16469 Health/ 18k Mana, 2256 Spell power, self buffed.
Continualy drop Flametongue, *Tremor*, Mana, WoA and use the flametongue weapon enchant.
Killed raptor first with the help of my fire elemental and bloodlust. Keep yourself topped of with riptide and LHW. The Stuns will hurt the most so be prepared to spam that heal button or NS+HW. Use typical Elemental shaman dps rotations but remember to heal your self even if it messes up the lava burst. For the first minute of the fight, or while the sunder armor stacks are few, use water shield. Around 7 stacks start using Earth Shield. That's about the time they can start bursting you down between the stuns. If you want to be pro, run out of the whirlwinds and save yourself the extra heal.
After the raptor goes down Earth Shield yourself since the boss will enrage for 2 min. Light dps, again just keep yourself up.
When the enrage dies off its smooth sailing. You can again use water shield for nearly endless mana and he doesn't hit hard at all.
*Keeping a constant Tremor totem down is crucial to winning the fight

I solo'd Bloodlord Mandokir for the first time ever this morning, and was so exhilarated, I felt the need to share my strategy for any and all who care, so here it goes.
I was level 77 at the time, and spec'd as Beast Mastery. I had a level 77 Bear pet, with the following talents learned and set to AUTO: Claw, Growl, Swipe and Taunt. Needless to say, the pet was spec'd for this already (he's been my leveling pet since 70), with the following talents maxed for points: Blood Of The Rhino, Grace Of The Mantis, Great Stamina, Natural Armor, Pet Barding, and Spiked Collar. I was spec'd your typical BM build with Beast Mastery talent, Go For The Throat, Careful Aim, and full Mortal Shots, with 1 point in Improved Tracking, and 1 point in Hawk Eye.
*** THIS NEEDS TO BE PREFACED BY SAYING, I DO NOT THINK I COULD HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT MY 2-PIECE TIER 5 SET BONUS, BUT IT MIGHT BE POSSIBLE IF YOU DROP +STAM FOOD AND SCROLLS INTO YOUR PET. TRY FOR YOURSELF AND SEE IF IT'S POSSIBLE. KEEP IN MIND THAT I ONLY GOT BLOODLORD TO ABOUT 60-65% MY FIRST TWO ATTEMPTS, AND BY MY THIRD ATTEMPT, HAD HIM EASILY TO 40%. ***
It took me roughly four tries in total I think, to get the hang of how this needed to be done. I have been raiding since Vanilla, and have done Zul'Gurub probably too many times to care for, but I haven't given it a serious shot at soloing Bloodlord Mandokir until just today. By my fourth or so try, I had figured out exactly what I was doing wrong previously, and started to feel very confident he would go down with patience on my part.
To get started, find your way to Bloodlord's room. WAIT outside first, and buff up as best you can. I had personally blown all of my +Stamina scrolls already for my pet on my first three attempts, so I went up against Bloodlord with only buffs on myself for the final successful run.
There's four Axe Throwers guarding the doorway to Bloodlord that you can't walk past at level 77 – maybe you can at 80, but I wouldn't know. Summon your pet, Misdirect a Multi-shot on them to him, and Arcane a third, while sending your pet onto the fourth. Run through the portal/archway and into the boss's room. Get a safe distance away, make sure you're NOT in the middle of being knocked back by an Axe Thrower before you Feign Death or else it'll be blown and you'll most certainly die (the Axe Throwers have about 30k health each, so good luck with that, haha). Let your pet eat the dust, revive him in Bloodlord's room, and toss your buffs/food/scrolls on your pet.
To start the encounter, kill the non-elite speaker at the bottom of the stairs. Be ready for the boss, because the encounter will start as soon as the Speaker dies. After he's dead, Misdirect your pet and drop a quick Mend Pet on it, THIS IS THE MOST important part in my opinion. Your pet needs to be and STAY at full health or as close to that as possible the entire time. If you lose your lead on his health and the gap starts to widen, you're likely to fail. If your pet DOES in fact die, the boss will teleport you to him from wherever you are in the instance, and he and his raptor will utterly rape your face. If you think your pet is going to die, be ready to pop a health potion, and get away from the bottom of the stairs, then Feign Death so you can start over. If you die, so be it, it happens. Just don't lose your cool and try again. It took me about an hour and some change to get the process just right over my four attempts.
Once the fight starts, your pet should have maximum possible aggro on the boss. You will need to use a Distracting Shot on the Raptor though, and get him to follow you up the stairs. You will then go about half-way up the stairs, and jump off to the left (if you're facing the stairs), and land onto the little shelf. This will BUG the Raptor out, and he will just stand there staring at you like an idiot for the most part. From time to time, the Raptor will turn around and attack your pet for whatever reason, but most of the time, he'll just hit it once or twice and then bug back out.
The best solution I've found for keeping your pet alive is as follows.
Misdirect EVERY time it is up. Ideally, you'll want to activate all of your possible cooldowns right before Misdirect is up again, that way you can maximize your damage (and healing if you have the 2-piece Tier 5 set bonus) you do during those three vital, key shots. My rotation for DPSing was pretty straight-forward.
-- Mend Pet at the top of your rotation every time.
-- Serpent Sting.
-- Arcane Shot.
-- Steady Shot / Auto Shot two or three times.
-- Repeat.
You'll HAVE to have Aspect of the Viper active, otherwise you will burn through your mana pool so incredibly fast. With AotV up, you'll never drop under 5k or 6k, depending on your personal mana pool size.
That's really it. Just don't stray away from that rotation and you'll be good to go.
Again, I can't really speak for the "average" out-of-the-box hunter in LK without the Tier 5 2-piece set bonus, so this guide is strictly guaranteed as possible for the gear and setup that I had and used.
This was my first attempt ever, and I expect I'll be doing this every reset, until I get that damned Raptor. As a huge mount collector, I've had it in my sights since I first saw it in ZG almost three years back. Now that I know I can solo this bastard, I will be back to ZG every time I can.
Best of luck, and I hope this helps. Would love to hear if this same rotation/strategy works for non-BM hunters, and hunters without the Tier 5 2-piece set bonus.
Lastly, DON'T FORGET TO MEND PET at the top of every single rotation, and to ALWAYS keep Misdirect up, and use your cooldowns with it when it's available and you WILL succeed. With those two tactics in mind, you should most likely never jump past 55-59% aggro/threat.
Enjoy!

Soloed as a holy Paladin on 1/9/09, wearing mostly Naxx 10 and 25 gear.
I fought him up on top of the pyramid to avoid being feared into the trash backs. The sunder armors made it a little hairy, so I killed the raptor first. I just sat back and healed myself through the enrage.
After that point it was cake. Holy shock, consecrate and judgment of righteousness to DPS him down. Used Divine Plea on every cooldown and seal of wisdom when I got below 40% mana. Timed my heals to avoid the mortal strike, but otherwise most of his attacks didn't hit me for more than ~2500.
Ultimately took 16 minutes. But the last 13-14 were just patience.

However it is very soloble by enhancement, original tactic by
Shallyah Sporeggar
.
Burst the raptor down while your wolves tank Mandokir. When you kill the raptor Mandokir will enrage and your wolves will die pretty quickly, so use Ghostwolf form to kite him around the spears for one minute (Improved Ghostwolf is very useful through all this fight). When he returns to normal engage him and everytime he gazes you, turn into ghostwolf and kite him until the effect wears off.
Make sure Tremor Totem is up at all times, this is crucial. The other elemental totems should be Flametongue, Life Stream and Windfury. Use Watershield at all times for mana conserving.
If you're ever going low on health, just turn into ghostwolf and kite while Life Stream totem heals you and when Mandokir does a whirlwind you can use those seconds to heal fully and engage again. I personally dual wield while fighting him, if it works for others to use shield, that's fine too I guess. Just use Feral Spirits when they're up and Shamaistic Rage when you're going low on mana (it should be ready way before you really need it) and he'll be down in around 10 minutes.

Soloed today as 80 DK Unholy DPS spec. I didn't swap into any tank gear, am wearing naxx/emblem gear. Had ghoul out at the start and used him to pull Mando down the steps and had pet tank him. I went to top of steps and was able to kill the raptor before Mando downed my ghoul. The frenzy was a little annoying, but nothing IF and well timed DS couldn't overcome. I was pretty lazy and just ignored when he gazed me, the added dmg/daze wasn't enough to warrant doing nothing during those times.
When Frenzy wore off I summoned another ghoul and DPed it to top myself off. Rest of the fight was a joke. Never used garg or army. Basic rotation was IT->PS->DS->BS->BS->DS->DS reset.

just cleared full zg as a DK with an unholy/ blood build. this fight was rather straight forward. keep your cds up and fight him on top of the pyramid, then you don't have to clear the adds. I downed the raptor first cause i thought it would annoy me and just tanked him down afterwards.
if you consider clearing oldschool stuff as a dk, i highly recommend getting blood tap for selfheal. 20 % every 30 seconds is huge and next to death strike the thing that makes dk soloing so quick and painfree.
things to keep in mind though: some bosses enrage ( e.g. hakkar after 10 minutes). so you shouldn't forego dmg talents completely. i settled for a 21/0/50 build, because i didn't manage to down hakkar before the enrage hit me when i was skilled deep enough for veteran of the third war and mark of blood and had the 15 % bonus armor from frosst on top.

Ok, after many struggles before i FINALLY downed the guy solo as a Feral druid.
here are my Stats: 31507 HP, 25498 Armor, 705 agi, 353 strength, 34.45 percent chance to dodge, 431 def. I also ate the food buff that gives you 60 AP and 40 stam. The stats shown are after the food buff, Mark, and thorns. And a raid with 4 DC'd alts to keep my guardian buff.
The Strat: Kill speaker, run up to the top of the ziggurat, down the raptor, he'll enrage, pop all of your cooldowns after they're all gone, make sure you've cleared the raptor pack to the right of the ziggurat. Jump down after you're at about 50 percent health, then heal up, he'll take like 10-12 seconds to get to where you are if you land at the corner of the zig. You should have enough time to get 3 heals off at least(I have mind binded to heal myself to make it that much quicker). After he gets to you just slowly drag him back up to the zig. The key to winning is getting past that enrage, and anytime your health gets low jump off the zig and heal up, he takes at least 2-3 heals to get to you which should be enough to get through the fight. With 2 jump downs I downed him with 4k health to spare. Don't worry about the gazes, just fight through them. It also helps if you have Lifeblood, the herbalism talent. A heal over time. Didn't even pop Survival instincts to get through this. No raptor mount, but at least i know i can do it now.
Btw, i'm only in heroic and badge gear, not one piece of naxx gear. You don't need to be epic'd out for this.
UPDATE: After jumping down from the zig, do NOT drag him across the platform at the bottom, he will stay there and continue to port you to him and will NOT move. Drag him across the grass and stay on it until you get to the stairs!

Soloed as a level 80 Death Knight with minimal tank gear, crittable, and no epics. I used my own 51/13/7 custom blood spec. It is different from the cookie cutter due to imp runetap.
I fought Mandokir in Frost Presence with 18110 armor, 21022 health points, 444 defense, 10 parry, and 9 dodge.
My strategy was to pop army of the dead right away. By doing that I burned down the raptor extremley quickly. When he enraged, I summoned a ghoul and had my finger ready on Deathpact - which I did have to use. I also put mark of blood on him immediately when he enraged.
As all the other posts in this this thread say, surviving the enrage is key. Blow whatever cooldowns you can just to survive this.
I did not use most of main attacks for a few reasons. I used Plague Strike and Icy Touch and then used Deathstrike every time I could for self healing. I also used obliterate to activate more deathrunes, so more Deathstrikes. I used dancing rune weapon when the cooldown was off, as well as Vampiric Blood and Mark of Blood every time.
Another breaking factor in this fight was improved runetap. I would say if you aren't geared, this is a MUST. The lowest he got me to was 4000/21022 and this was not when he was enraged. He feared and my back was turned so I can't parry and crit me for a lot with a whirlwind. I quickly hit imp runetap upon fear breaking and put my diseases on and deathstriked.
The fight lasted around 10 minutes. It would go much faster and smoother with better gear, obviously. I also could have summoned another ghoul to speed it up the fight, but it was not necessary.
I plan to snag some tank gear from heroics to reach uncrittable so I don't have those close calls.
Good luck to everyone who attempts him.

Soloed as a Feral druid with no tanking talents. I recommend going for a lot of HP instead of avoidance for this fight aswell as the tiger boss. Once you kill the raptor the fight becomes much easier, when you're on low HP go up the ramp and jump off the side and then heal yourself.

Not too bad as an unholy DK (dps spec) in tanking gear.
I died twice while trying the focus on Bloodlord and ignore the raptor strategy.
I killed him first try when I killed the raptor first. The enrage isn't that bad.
I kept boneshield up and used icebound fortitude whenever cd was up.
Whenever I got to 10k hp I popped death pact and immediately rezzed my ghoul.
Just keep up diseases and death strikes.

brought him to 25 % as a fury warrior in a tank gear. Used Bloodhirst Glyph. Tactic used:
Focused Mandokir, didn't attack Ohgan
Maintained Demo Shout and Thunder Clap on all times
Saved rage and GCD to be able to perform Bloodthirst on all times
Turned off autoattack and stopped casting while wearing "being watched" debuff to avoid hard-hitting guillotine strike
Used Shield Wall and Shield Block when out of cooldown (but never at the same time)
Used Berserker Rage and turned towards both mobs as soon as i've been getting feared
Would've been success if...
If I brought at least 1 bloody health potion
If I hadn't forgotten to equip that HP restore-on-use trinket
If I hadn't got unlucky streak of 8 parried bloodthirsts out of 10 on late stages of encounter
Should try downing Ohgan first, while saving shield block/shield wall/avoidance trinket and everything else for enrage. Gotta try tomorrow... (Thekal went down fast and easy with this setup BTW)

Soloed it as an 80 prot Warrior. I killed the raptor first, ignored the gaze and used all my defensive cooldowns. I also had to modify my gear a little; dropped defense and stamina for more dodge, block and block value. If you're a warrior, don't try this unless you have pretty good gear and atleast 30k hp unbuffed.

Not a huge problem as a feral druid.
Kill the raptor first and ride out the enrage - the damage you take all fight tanking two mobs is far greater than the extra dam during enrage - Once that's over with it's a piece of cake - just barkskin out to heal in between fears as needed. I fought him up the top of his little pyramid thing so I didn't need to clear trash (to avoid fear aggro)

Just solo'ed as a lvl 80 Frost DK. Was wearing 1/2 naxx/blue tanking gear. This was NOT an easy fight for me by any stretch. Probably a bit more difficult than solo'ing Ony.
Since the boss pretty much "Stares" at you practically every 5 seconds when its not on Cool down, I decided to just burn the Blood lord. Tried not auto-attacking and everything but I guess the diseases counted against me as he still charged me every time. Had to Death strike every chance it was up, as well as Life blood, and Rune tap. Sac'ed my ghoul once as well to bring my life up. Alternated between IBF and Unbreakable armor every time they were up to help mitigate the charge/fear/whatever dmg. Blew Litchborne when it broke me out of his fear, and death coiled myself for extra healing.
Sadly no mount dropped.

I've done this twice now on my DK...the first time was rought, killed the raptor first and barely squeaked by through the enrage. That was at 78.
Now I'm 80, sitting in mostly rep/quest blue tanking gear, 21k armor 22k hp in frost presence, a blood/unholy mix (i have heart strike, and the ghoul pet :) ). I never went under 80% hp fighting him. His hits while enraged really didn't hit that hard, and my Death Strikes (glyphed) were more than enough to keep me healed.
Now if only the raptor would drop...

Easy solo as a full T7 Blood Tank, the fight is more so a joke and time consuming then a challange. generally fighting, death strike is in my rotation, so i burn the raptor first and let the guy enrage. With 75% of his attacks being either parryed, dodged, or missed helps and simplfys things a lot. and it need be i got rune tap and my "Lay on Hands" (vamp blood + summoning zombie-sacrifice zombie).
man i with Blizz would throw us DK's into one of the set sets. sucks runnign all the old world #$%^ and i cant gather any class spicifec items. =( oh well thunderfury will be mine one day.

After a couple of failed attempts I decided to fight him up the stairs on his platform. Killed the raptor first fast then ate the enrage. Whenever I got low on health I jumped down from the platform(to the front, just to the right hand side of the step, not to the side where the raptors are) and healed myself while he ran down to catch up with me, then took him back up the stairs and killed him :)

This fight can be difficult to solo, but I found it easiest to do if you can kill the raptor first. It does send Bloodlord into a frenzy for 2 minutes, but if you can survive for 2 minutes until that wears off, you've won. Pop whatever you have to keep you alive immediately after you kill the raptor, try to kite the boss, etc.

Solo'd as an enhance shaman.
To do this, you will need to become uncrittable via PVP gear. You will also require at least Naxx10 gear. Finally, you will want to bring a shield.
Start by clearing out the entire area. Last thing you want is to eat a fear and end up aggroing more stuff.
If you've not killed the speaker and are making your first attempt, then mount up and rush up the temple to where Bloodlord waits. Aggro the speaker on the way. At the top, drop your totems (Make sure you use Tremor Totem) and kill the speaker. Bloodlord will then all the way down the stairs, then proceed to come back up. The raptor will reach you first. Use Spirit Wolves, hit heroism, and beat the living crap out of him. You basically have 40 seconds to kill the raptor, or else you won't make it. Be sure to keep your health topped off and keep a high portion of your mana. You shouldn't need to use your Maelstrom Weapon procs for DPS, so save them for heals.
Once the raptor dies, equip the shield and jump off the side of the temple. Be careful how you jump. If you aren't going to land in a spot the boss can reach you, he'll port you back up. Now you have the task of going two minutes to let the enrage go away. You can easily do this by using your Earth Elemental. When Bloodlord comes down, drop it then run away out of range of the fear. Now just heal your elemental (Put Earthliving Weapon on your MH weapon here) until the enrage is gone. The elemental can take the hits a LOT easier.
Once the enrage is gone, top your elemental off then run up the temple. Wait there until your elemental dies, letting mana regen (By now, you should be low). If needed, use a mana pot. Once the elemental dies, drop another tremor totem and wait. Bloodlord will come to you. You're now gonna play keep away until your spirit wolves are back up. Basically, you'll jump off the temple to the side, then run back up. When doing this, try to not heal when he's watching you, so that he doesn't charge you. Good news, though, is that his charge won't interrupt your heal if you have to.
Once your wolves are back, get WF back on your weapon, take off the shield, and pop your wolves. You can also use Shamanistic Rage if you need more mana. If you had just enough DPS to kill the raptor, then you should be able to get Bloodlord down about 25% before your wolves end. Shield it up again and get running.
If you got this far, congrats, you've pretty much won. You just need to keep up the avoiding & healing cycle until your wolves are up again. It should take about 15 minutes total to kill him, at most.

Solo'd as elemental shaman. Did like previous comments say, kill the Raptor then jump off the tower, luckily he did a whirlwind about half way down so it bought a few more seconds too.
The only problem was the enrage.. I didn;t get ti DPS at all, just spam healed (LHW) and survived.. when he got out of enrage, it wasn't very tough at all.. lowest i went down to was about 30% mana due to me having to heal alot (not being able to apply water shield fast enough) and using Thunderstorm whenever CD was up.

This boss is fairly easy to two-man now that the level cap is 80. So easy that a lvl 80 combat rogue and a disc priest can two man it. Personally it's easier to take out the raptor and heal through the enrage. Once you kill the raptor and manage to get past the enrage it's more really just an endurance fight more then anything, But sadly no mount drop yet. But happy farming to everyone else :D

Soloed it with my paladin yesterday, no mount though, done it some times with a hunter, but now i know i can do it myself. I am a paladin btw, and here is my strategy;
Buff up with seal of light, and always use judgement of light because you will need alot of healing. Always keep a blessing of sanctuarity up to get a high mana reg.
First skip all the mobs in zg by running there.. then kill the pack standing, guarding the entreance to the raptor room, kill these should be done by pulling them around the corner. When killed i will go kill the speaker instantly, run back to the point where i killed those guards, and if you are as far as possible into the corner, you will not run around when feared, very usefull. Then get the raptor down to aproxemately 20-25k hp, then start focusing on bloodlord, by using many AoE attacks like hammer of the righteous and concecration, avengers shield etc. After some time the raptor will die, and you will have taken bloodlord down dome health now, when he enrages, keep health high by using flash of light when you get below 80% hit points while enraged, becuz he hits hard with other abilities like mortal strike. Whirlwind should'nt be a prblem since you probably will parry, dodge or block it, or most likely he misses you with it. When enrage is over you just continue, just easier

together. I recommend tanking him at the top of his ziggurat, as it sharply reduced the chances of pulling extra adds due to his fear. Focus on the raptor first, bubble when sunder armor reaches 6-8 stacks. Once he's down, focus on the main boss and the enrage should give out as it only lasts 1 min 30 sec.
Dropped him twice so far, and still no mount. Although the same day I attempted my second raptor run, I got
Rivendare's Deathcharger
. =D

fun thing happened, me (fury warrior) and my dk friend were doing this and i died and he rezzed me as a ghoul at the same time the spirit rezzed me so i was controlling both me as a risen ghoul and me as my regular character. i could switch between controlling the 2 by hitting the X to dismiss although i was stuck with the ghoul ability bar.

Feral druid here, soloed pretty easily. Bugging out the raptor was a great idea; if you shadowmeld near the end of the Watching you! debuff, the raptor despawns.
I also ate the guillotines. I tried to stop attacking during them, and he'd just guillotine me at the end any way. Maybe it procs off dots. Either way, I'd just dps through it. Needed a potion, a regen, and a Last Stand + regen, but finished at about 50% health.
My gear is excellent but I did this in mostly a dps spec; I didn't have thick hide and I only had 1 point in PotP and 1 point in Natural reaction (I misclicked). Also didn't have infected wounds. So you can probably do this if you have mostly epic enchanted gear; doesn't need to be best in slot or anything.

As a warlock you can just stand on the pyramid where he can't reach you, and let your VW/FG tank him at the bottom, ignore the raptor... it's too easy.

How did you solo this as a Feral Druid? 3/5 T7 at the moment, 33,000 health, 34,500 Armor, 35% Dodge and 4,400 Attack Power, and I barely get him to 250,000 health..
I soloed this also as a feral druid. I'm also 3/5 T7 with 2 valorous pieces, everything else came from heroics or 10 man Naxx. I use my tank set instead of my dps set which has 33% more DPS in bear but significantly less survivability. I stayed in bear most of the time. My stats are very similar to your's, I have about 500 HP more (unbuffed) and 2% dodge more.
Unlike some of the others, I chose to kill off the pet immediately. This is because on my first wipe I noticed that 40% of my damage came from the pet, I didn't want to have to deal with that. Unlike most people I didn't kill
anyone
save the guy at the bottom of the stairs.
I popped frenzied regeneration pretty early and made sure to stop mauling so that I didn't run out of rage. I found that kiting up the stairs was immensely useful for fears, but twice I got to pop Berserk to break fear and also deal a fair amount of damage.
One thing I found useful -- and I'll try to do this more than once in the fight next time -- was to kite him down to the bottom of the stairs, go kitty and dash to the top. By the time he got to me, I was able to cast a healing touch and a regrowth. Considering the fact that I had time to do two frenzied regenerations, my dash cooldown would have been up had I done it early enough to do it again (and I'll probably replace the HT with a Nourish + rejuv or LB).
I didn't bother to get out of the guillotine, maybe I will next time.
The two most important pieces of advice I can offer are:
1. Stay towards the top of the temple in case you get feared
2. Be patient. This is a long fight, 5-10 minutes. If you're going to pop a healing potion, do it only as a last resort, because if you can stick it out for just a little longer reusable abilities like frenzied regen may become available.
And for all you NE druids, I'm sure you already know this, but when trying stuff like this out Shadow Meld is your friend.

Very easy fight as a frost DK tank, with mixed 25/10 Naxx gear. First, tank him up at the top of the structure. As when he fears you, you'll just run down about half way down the ramp and not aggro the rest of the room. Make sure to kill the raptor first because the enrage is very easy to live through as opposed to taking them both alive at the same time, he only hits for about ~1,000 each hit while he's enraged (~400 normal hits). Use deathstrike as much as you can, heals for about ~1.3k so basically making the damage he does not that big of an issue, even when enraged. Just pop your trinkets and cooldowns as necessary. I had two dodge trinkets (monarch and the heroic badge vendor one, lichborne (which I did not use the whole fight), icebound fortitude and unbreakable armor. There is no reason you cannot survive the 2 minute enrage as a frost tank, I never fell below 50% HP. No raptor mount yet, been running every reset. Good luck to everyone.

Really easy to solo as a well geared prot warrior.
Do a few preparations to surely avoid wipes:
Pre-combat drink an
Ironshield Potion
or
Indestructible Potion
Use a
Greater Rune of Warding
Stamina Buff Food, any will do. (I prefer
Poached Nettlefish
for extra crit)
If you have a low base damage tanking weapon, equip a slower one with more DPS like
Broken Promise
. If u dont have anything like that, use any 1H weapon with high base damage. This is needed so you will kill him faster.
Ask for a Healthstone from a lock just to make sure, the more "oh-@#$% buttons" you got is the better. I also spam avoidance trinkets to top that (
Monarch Crab
if you are JC, plus
Rune of Repulsion
they wont share CD!)
About the fight:
Dont kill the raptor, just keep attacking the boss.
After the pull hop on the stairs so u wont get feared to mobs, in case you didnt clear trash (who would do that ? :D)
Start off with a shieldwall so It will be up again near the end of the fight.
Keep up Demo, TC, Commanding shout, and full sunders!
When you are at 50% HP use Last Stand (plus any other maxhp booster if u got) + Enraged Regeneration! BEFORE doing this make sure u dont have Mortal Strike on you!
Spam those avoidance trinkets on CD!
HP pot / Healthstone if it gets critical!
Always save Zerk rage for fears!
For burst damage save Shield Block so you can Shield Slam 2-3 times with improved damage!
Thats it, GL getting your raptor!

Lmao, got to love 3.1. Today I managed to kill this boss while being AFK. In 3.1, hunters' got a pet talent that makes your pet's growl heal it for 2% of its health. I specced BM for extra pet haxxness, and went AFK while auto shotting Mandokir and letting my tanky turtle do the work - and he did not die! No mount, but it's fun how easy it is now :D Beofre 3.1 I had trouble keeping my pet alive with just mend pet, even a turtle could die if he got a few unlucky crits. I was survival back then, though. I also made a video some time ago, showing how to make the raptor pet evade.

I don't know if something was changed in one of the recent patches, or what, but the pyramid trick is no longer working for me.
Trying as an 80 BM hunter, Mandokir will either teleport up to me, teleport me down to him, or just mount up again regardless of where the raptor is or whether it's alive and start evading.

I roll a feral druid,
and I soloed him with no trouble today. I do not know if it was beginners luck, but I managed to down him with 90% life left. I nuked the raptor, the enrage was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be, be sure to to throw down barkskin. I did not go bellow 50% during the enrage but then I popped Frenzy Regen and that brought me up to 90ish%. I did not try to avoid any of the gazes, but i did avoid many of the Whirl-Winds (just for practice). Very easy fight, I will definitely do again to farm the mount. (4/24/09)
UPDATE: I just picked up the raptor mount from this boss (8/28/09). As you can see it took me 4 months of grinding to get this mount. Totally worth it. Plus the gold you make is decent for the time invested, around 25G per kill plus all the other gear he drops that you can either de or sell. GL to all who are still grinding this mount.

Soloed today as a ret pally in mostly nax 25 gear with a few ulduar pieces, armory link is
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Crushridge&n=Farging
The hardest part of the fight was making sure not to do anything while being watched, otherwise he would hit me for about 6k.
The basic strat was to keep sacred shield up, use JoL and SoL for self healing, I had to stop and cast a holy light twice, easily done during his whirlwinds. Although I read nothing about clearing the adds around the base of the temple, I would recommend it, at 40k health he feared me into a group of adds who then knocked me all over the place, with the priest constantly healing the boss.
Other then that just kite the boss up and down the stairs after killing his raptor, and use your LoH and bubble to last out his enrage in the beginning.

Easily solo'd as a lvl 80 Fury/Prot Warrior. 0/31/40.
My Main spec is Arms. So to clear packs I just Pop Bloodfury (Orc FTW), Bloodrage, Zerker rage, Sweeping strikes and just Bladestorm each pack down.
I then switch to Tank Gear and my Farming Spec 0/31/40. I also have Glyph of Bloodthirst which gives alot of heals.
Anyway, just burn down the speaker and Ohgan. This is the really easy part.
Now onto the easy part.
Keep Sunder, Demoshout and Thunderclap up.
Use Bloodthirst every CD.
Use Shieldblock Every CD followed by a Shield Slam.
Whatever you do, do not rend. Cause if you get watched and you do dmg you will get guillotined. This is why Deep Wounds is bad too.
When he casts Threatening Gaze, press F1 to target yourself and wait for it to drop off and start attacking again.
If things go pear shaped and you have Last Stand, pop it and Commanding shout then pop Enraged Regen, and you will get pretty close to max health.
/lol and collect your 20g and Raptor mount (if you are lucky hehe)

Laughably easy with a Protection Paladin. Devo aura+seal/judgement of light/wisdom depending on if you want more hp or mana during the fight, imp righteous fury, glyphed divine plea and blessing of sanctuary. You will be virtually immortal. Make sure you kill the raptor first though, or the sunders will eat through even your devotion aura in time.

Pretty easy to solo as a BM hunter. I had a glyph of Mend Pet (for pvp), and a worm with +health talents (no +armor).
Kill the troll at the bottom of the stairs, run up, wait for the boss to attack, attack the boss with pet and jump onto the platform slightly below. Boss's raptor will evade bug so just get into position in which you can attack the boss and be careful not to pull aggro. Don't forget to keep mend pet up. After the boss dies just feign death and wait for raptor to despawn.

Prot warriors want to make this and tiger boss a joke? Read on.
As a main spec tank, I decided to use my second spec as a hybrid build, since I am fail as a DPS warrior xD. This is the spec I use when solo'ing old raid bosses. It combines the avoidance of the Prot tree and defensive stance, but uses Bloodthirst and other nice abilities from Fury.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LZGxxox0u0xoZMItdx0dibI:0Lb0zM
I got my ass kicked by both mount bosses trying to follow all the tips and using the standard prot build, but with this spec, it makes it so absurdly easy that I simply can't wait for resets anymore.
I'll post a similar response on Thekal's board, but for Mandokir, the fight goes like this:
-Kill the raptor and get him out of the way and just eat Mando's enrage. Bloodthirst every time it's off cooldown.
- While he's enraged, you'll fall behind. Pop medallion of heroism and shield wall, and if you get too low, I usually give myself around 35%, pop LS, Com Shout (I have this up the whole time, since BT replenishes a %, but I could see someone using Battleshout), and Enraged Regen. Bloodthirst will more than keep your health up while your CD's are rebuilding. By the time BT starts to fall behind again, your main health regen will be off CD and ready.
Make sure you keep Demo Shout and Thunderclap on him the whole time. Also Sunder Armor since you won't have devastate. Takes a good 10 minutes or so to kill him, but it's definitely doable with this hybrid spec.
Here's my armory so you can get an idea of my gear and whatnot.
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ravenholdt&n=Skaggs
Edit: I'm in all heroic/badge gear. Also for this fight I used
no
pots, bandages, flasks, etc. Nothing extraneous. Bloodthirst works that well.

Recently soloed on my 78 Death Knight.
First thing - CLEAR ALL TRASH.
The most important thing for anyone below 80 is to completely avoid Guillotines, otherwise it is almost impossible to outheal.
Whilst killing the raptor, make sure when you have Gaze, you avoid using Heart Strike as that will result in getting guillotined. It's good to have Mandokir on focus to see when he casts it.
After killing the raptor he enrages, kite him as much as possible around the temple and occasionally attack him for death strike heals. Mark of blood is extremely helpful on this part as he attacks 65% quicker. Again, move away and stop attacking when he casts Threatening Gaze throughout the enrage and all the way till the end of the fight. Use defensive cooldowns at will and after a LONG fight (took me longer than Onyxia) he should go down.
I've uploaded my first kill onto Youtube so you can see how it's done, apologies if the quality is a bit bad.

I just managed to solo him as lvl 80 warrior with a mostly block based gear set. My stats:
~32k HP selfbuffed
~21% Dodge
~15% Parry
~32% Block
~1600 Block Value
As trinkets I used
Darkmoon Card: Greatness
and
Lavanthor's Talisman
.
The trick is to use Shield Wall and Last Stand + Enraged Regeneartion very early. You need the second Last Stand + Enraged combo otherwise you will probably die. I also used buff food, and a HP flask. Remember to keep your HP shout and Thunderclap/Demo shout up. I ended the fight with about 6k HP left.

Solo'd as an Enhance shaman in mostly Heroic / 10 naxx epics. I used the strategy of an elemental shaman video, but slightly modified. Below is my strat that I used and a map to go along with it;
1. Clear all the add packs in the room and the patrolling berserker so you don't have to worry about any unwanted mobs.
2. Run up the stairs without pulling the speaker. Set your totems (I used WF/Tremor/FT/Heal). kill the speaker from the top of the stairs, then unload on Mandokir's raptor (use wolves / Shamanistic rage to avoid dieing).
3. As soon as the raptor dies, heal to full and cast ghost wolf to kite mandokir around his entire room in a counter-clockwise direction until his enrage wears off. Avoid going too close to the side of his altar so he doesn't teleport you to him. Having a health potion for this part of the encounter helps!
4. After your reach the north-west corner of his altar (corner closest to the wall) head to the southern most corner of the room next to the entrance to his area. Take the route between the area with the spears.
5. When you reach the corner next to the entrance, heal up / dorp totems and get ready to do INSANE DPS. By now all your cooldowns should be up, use SR / Spirit Wolves / Trinkets (save your elemental totems for later).
6. Three(3) seconds before your wolves die, recall totems, cast Ghostwolf and begin to kite him around the room in a counter-clockwise fashion again. Your going to make 2-3 full runs around the room before your wolves / Shamanistic Rage come off of cooldown again, so after each turn of the altar run back to the "attack" corner and drop tremor totem, healing stream, and heal up. Cast ghostwolf and kite him around the altar again. Use you Fire Ele / Bloodlust on the third DPS phase to finish him off.
Here's a map of the route (blue square is where you fight him).
http://img40.imageshack.us/i/bloodlordkiting.jpg/
7. Repeat step #6 until you kill him. Congrats, Hope you get the mount!
Some Tips; Be smart how you use Maelstrom procs. If your at half health, use a greater heal. If your wolves are up (which they should be) use Chian lightning / lightning bolt. Use any buffing foods or elixirs if you want (I didnt). Dont get greedy on the DPS, when your wolves are about to die, GTFOut of there! I dont suggest trying to solo Bloodlord Mandokir if you're in mostly Blues / PvP gear. Good Luck and have fun!

Alright, I'm a dk dps and I have a dk tank friend, he wants the tiger, I want the raptor, so we head down to ZG when we can to do the fights and go for the raptor. I know it can be soloed, but we have never wiped this way. The tank will hold aggro from boss, while I'll hold the aggro from the raptor but let it stay alive and just dps the boss. I ignore the gaze entirly and we'll still get through it easy, pop an Army if things get bad, but they're nice to save for tiger boss, happy farming!

Bloodlord Mandokir is easily solo-able as a
ret paladin
. However, it takes some practice. The key to this fight as a ret pally is to survive the enrage. Do this, and he's cake. To start, there is no need to clear any of the mobs in his area.
Buff up with Devotion Aura, Blessing of Kings, and Seal of Light. Judgement of Light will be your judgement unless desperate for mana. I rarely have mana issues on this fight. Sacred shield helps as well (if only a little bit), and a stamina buff food doesn't hurt if you're still wokring out the kinks of the fight.
Charge the base of the altar and one-shot the mob down there. Run to the top of the altar and stand at the back. When Mandokir and his raptor engage, punch Avenging Wrath and burn the raptor down asap. When the raptor dies, Mandokir enrages.
Now for the tricky part. The enrage lasts for one minute, so
focus on surviving
, not DPS. Use Flash of Light often, and you will probably need to use both Lay on Hands and Divine Shield. Holy Light as needed. Mkae sure to use Crusader Strike, Divine Storm, and Judgement often to get the additional healing from Seal of Light.
After the minute of enrage is up, his DPS drastically decreases and you can proceed to burn him down.
Screenshots
can be found here
, with additional info.
Good Luck!

Soloed as a feral druid, 10man ulduar gear.
During Gaze I changed to the raptor to lacerate/mangle, when the raptor was dead I would just detarget and demo roar and run away from him if he whirlwinded. I also kept lacerate ticking on Mandokir the whole fight, was worth about 20% of my damage.
I took a lot less damage once the raptor died overall, due to the armor debuff and another mob hitting me burning through my savage defense procs faster.
When I hit 60-70% health I survival instinct+frenzied regeneration. I did that twice during the fight.
Fighting at the top of his building let me skip all the trash mobs without risk of adds.
Mostly it was just an annoying cycle of fear, gaze, dps, repeat, took 7mins to finish.
Next week tried the other strategy: burst down raptor, burst down Mandokir ignoring the gaze. Only had to heal once due to a shorter fight. Was actually easier at my gear level.

Just did this solo in a mostly ilvl 213ish geared ret pally.
Use judgement of light, seal of light, kings and I personally went with devotion armor. Kill the raptor and survive the enrage phase. I suggest before hand to clear the mobs on one side of the temple since while I was running away from him while he was enraged, I accidentally aggro'd a pack of raptors which almost killed me in the beginning (I was around 5k health with 0 mana, but was finally able to get rid of them and start on the boss again).
After that first enrage, this guy is a very simple fight, just switch to target yourself when he watches you, and then after that, load up all the dmg on him. Took me about 15 minutes on the second attempt, but know that I know what to do, it should take a bit less.

Using the above method the hunter showed us I managed to solo him as a Shadowpriest with a few additions.
How I did it:
Aggro boss downstairs and put your shadowfiend on Bloodlord Mandokir at the same spot as in the hunter video (just to the left of the stairs).
Use something to get aggro on the raptor (I used sw:d) and then position yourself like the hunter did on the ledge upstairs
Set passive on the pet and if you've done this fast enough Bloodlord Mandokir should soon teleport to you without his raptor!
Now here is where I do stuff different since our pet has by now despawned.
I do not jump down, stay on this level on the pyramid and start to dot him up (it's kind of U shaped).
Now keep moving! If he whirlwinds you run. If you get Threatening Gaze on you, you run. Keep dots up and pw:s shield on yourself if you're not at full health. Remember to squeeze in a tick of mind flay to keep that sw:p ticking, also try to cast a mind blast to get some replenish.
Use Dispersion and Shadowfiend on cooldown, just make sure you use fear ward on the fiend or else it might get feared and it's wasted.
Repeat this procedure back and forth on that level on the pyramid and he eventually dies!
So, why do we run you ask? We can outrange his Guillotine attack! That attacks sometime hit me for about 8k. I noticed one try when I got desperate that if I kept moving and got some distance I never got hit by it (or very seldom) and shortly after this tactic was born.
As a reference I did this in s6 pvp gear, no specific specc. If I would have had some pve gear this would have been easier and gone much faster since you don't really need that much health to begin with (I don't think I ever went below 14k out of my 24k). This should be doable for people much less geared than me. I wish I could record a kill but my computer is really horrible :/
Both the Tiger and the Raptor mounts still manages to avoid me.. one day I'll have both, one day.. at least now I can go in and kill them both solo without risk losing a roll on them if they do drop.
Good luck fellow priests!

Soloed this as a mid geared 80 DK . had the Achievement but i think this boss is more about playing your cards right than gear. (Of Course gear is still a needed)
Cleared all trash around the boss to get some Bijous for a mate but is also essitanl for when he fears. I had a PvP Trinket on at the time and managed to use it twice during the encounter.
I started by killing his raptor, Popping PvE Trinket , Dancing Rune weapon and Army. AoTD Last quite awhile and was a bit of a life saver. Just keep Diseases on the guy and keep using Death Strike, Whenever its avalible
USE IT
. But all together pretty simple boss.
No mount for me but knowning now I can farm these guys i should have it soon enough :D

Soloed him as affliction warlock. Pretty easy, but took a couple of tries to find the right tactic. Although it looks obvious +)
1.) Kill all the trash to avoid being feared into the packs
2.) Use demon armor and summon your void walker
3.) All dots on mandokir, while void offtanks raptor
4.) You can ignore the gaze and keep on life draining
5.) Most climactic moment is when he fears then immediately uses gaze. That time he can do significant damage. Keep void's sacrifice for this then use hs/healpot if needed
6.) Use haunt on cd, spam drain life, remember to heal your void if he's low on hp.
I killed him in full pve gear with 17,854 hp, lucky me to avoid death on 230 hp (=

Just soloed as a prot warrior in largely Naxx25 tanking gear, with a handful of higher ilvl upgrades. Noticeably harder after the dodge nerf but still quite doable.
Armor potion before the pull, last stand+enraged regen (to heal more through regen) as soon as you hit ~70% or so, shield block on cooldown, keep a shout and all your debuffs up. For me it was roughly a four-minute fight, so time your relevant cooldowns appropriately; for example, I got two Defender's Code and LH+ER usages in, but only one shield wall. If you talent/glyph for it you could probably get two shieldwalls in. Retaliation on the pull as well; I didn't and, now remembering, wish I had.
One frustrating thing is that for some reason, while attempting to eat in Mandokir's room I'd get knocked onto my feet every few seconds. I had to zone out to eat. Not sure why.

Soloable as retri paladin, using avenging wrath early to burn down the raptor while keeping sacred shield rolling on myself, instant FoLs between MS effects. During the 1 minute enrage after raptor dies its a survival issue, focus on surviving that 1 minute and you should be able to kill him. Judge Light and ignore the concecration and you should still have enough mana to be dpsing and healing.
Noteable is his guilottine attack wich he use on you if you are being watched (and make any actions), it hits me for 6-7k. I keep attacking during watches aswell as i need those instant FoLs and extra heals through divine storm.
A good time to holy light is when you get range through a fear and he stays and whirlwinds.
Goodluck and happy hunting.
Stats on paladin with kings is roughly 23k hp, 4500 ap, 14500 armor 31% crit.
it takes roughly 10 minutes from ive entered ZG to kill both mount bosses

Did him last night with 5/31/35 bloodthirst/prot spec. My stat's are not great
26.5k hp with CS
21.6k armor
452 def with 16.8% dodge, 12.1% parry, 14.1% block
368 resil
Half my items are PVP, half are blue BOE defense gear, with a 111 dps axe with lifeward.
Unless you are extremly well geared you must take out the raptor. I have tried many times and failed as the sunders keep stacking. I ignore the gaze and dps the raptor down as quickly as I can. Once the raptor dies, I used my shield wall followed by shield block and live through the 2 minutes he enrages popping my last stand + enraged regeneration. After that it should be easy to take him down.
Hope this helps for other Warrior's looking to try who don't have the proper gear but probably have some mix of PVP and a few prot items.

I find it so funny that there are so many comments about clearing all this trash and to go on the platform to help with the fear. I have another method that is SO much easier. Read up and try it yourself.
Out of ALL the comments, there was only one person that mentioned you can kill the first pack of trolls (the first one closest as you enter the room, not the second) and you can face your back to a corner that is located against the wall and the square pillar. (That person was rated down to 0 too!)
After you kill that first pack of mobs, you pull the raptor boss and stand in that corner. You will still get feared but you will
NOT
run around all over creation and therefore you do not have to kill more trash. This method is much easier.

soloed as a DK in average tank gears (mostly 226, some 213).
My stats:
35961 HP unbuffed.
26128 armor
48.30% block+dodge.
Frost Spec
I first cleaned the group guarding the entrance (have my back against wall) cuz they knock back very frequently. I then pull the boss up the pillar and tank him at the square platform at top.
It becomes very simple at this point, just make sure you have the two diseases up at all time, and use death strike as your main attack ability. By doing so his "I am staring at you~!" ability turns to a joke.
The boss will fear you, but would only fear you half way down the stairs, you can just climb back up and tank him again at the top.
Took me around 7 mins to down him and the Raptor, my health stays above 90% throughout the fight.

I tried the ledge bug last night and for the first time in forever, it did not work. It reset mandokir on the raptor and put my pet beside me on the ledge. I guess they finally got wise and fixed this bug.
QQ poor hunters, i know
I did the fight legit for the first time in my life last night. I cleared all the trash around the boss so i wouldnt be feared into them. Trash is really easy with the change to misdirection in 3.3. You just MD your pet then cast volley and all the threat from your first volley will be transferrred to the pet.
I beat it on the first try. I killed the raptor first, lasted out mandokir's 1 minute enrage and stayed in viper. He charges you constantly which is really annoying. I had to use gift of naaru and bandages to stay alive.
50+ kills and still no mount, maybe someday

How to solo as a Ret Pally
}--{ Buffs }--{
-Seal of Light
-Greater Blessing of Kings
-Retribution Aura
-Righteous Fury (not as necessary if you are soloing)
-Sacred Shield
-Divine Plea
-Divine Shield
}--{ Strategy }--{
-Start by nuking the raptor down. Its pretty straight forward, watch your health and mana. I use Judgement of Wisdom to keep my mana up and cast the instant FoL when art procs.
-After raptor is down Mandokir enrages, it is VERY important to use your bubble at this point. He hits pretty hard during the enrage and the bubble should last for its entire duration. While bubbled top your health off with FoL.
-When enrage ends just dps him down. Hes tougher then his raptor and should take much longer, but if you keep your mana and health up you should not have any problems.
-At about 20% I switch to SoV....this is entirely preference on my part and just makes its so i take him down faster, not something that is required.
Good luck and happy hunting!
*note my gear score was 2495 when I started soloing him.

Ledge strat still works as of Jan 13th, 2010. I can't have my pet on passive, but so long as the pet is attacking while I got to the ledge, then hit passive - the boss would follow. It is buggy though - sometimes it takes him a while to come onto the ledge - but he did it every time.
What gets me are his abilities. I don't seem to be able to avoid his charge, and he is hitting me for 4-5k (Mortal Strike?) a shot which means I simply don't survive the fight.
Am I supposed to ignore his Gaze and just pile on the dps or do I try to actually avoid his charges somehow by stopping damage and putting pet on passive?

Shadow Priest and kitty Druid work well for this fight, both about 4400 GS (2300 WH). We cleared the room then burned the boss. Fear was not a problem and kitty never went below 5k hp.

The greatest hint that i can give you all Retribution paladins is the position to keep him.
If you tank him with your back on the wall, into which the position dont let you going fleeing around when you get feared, you will successfuly kill him.
If you are not able to tank him with your back on the wall, next to a spirit, in the right position, he will fear you and you will take too much damage being hit on the backwards.
This must be the difference between sucess and fail.
=D
P.S.: Dropped yesterday , 2 months after getting exalted with zandalar. 10 months and the 1st mount droped.

Successfully soloed as a Season 6/7 geared resto druid using a 24/0/47 spec - 22717hp and 2511sp & 912resiliance
Cleared trash around him, kiting around the pyramid keeping insect and moonfire on the pet.
Pet dieds, switched to travel form and just kept out of range for the 2min debuff (used innervate etc)
Once the enrage was over I stopped and let him wail on me while I dps'ed him with a combination of Wrath, Insect & moonfire and keeping 100% uptime on Rejuv with lifebloom on every clear cast proc.

Soloed as lvl80 Demo/Afflic warlock (Siphon Life + Felguard)
Cleared the first 4 groups (2 raptor groups, 1 champion group and 1 mixed), got the Felguard stationary in the middle (so he can take the boss away from me when required), then had him attack the speaker.
I keep charge off at this point, seeing as the raptor comes to me - at which point I turn on Charge and Felguard has both boss and raptor on him. Clicking passive sends him to the center of the arena where I set him to attack and rotate between raptor and boss.
DoT raptor, avoid DPSing boss, making sure to stand still under Gaze.
Once raptor is dead, I just focus on keeping Felguard alive until boss' enrage is over, then its a simple matter of dotting and healing felguard.

Was this guy recently beefed up or am I missing something? People above with crappy gear are claiming to do this as a Ret paladin, but this guy is dominating me.
5443 gear score (average i-level 250+), spamming insta heals, every man out of fear, bubbling, etc. Still, he's owning me hard.
Sample damage:
Guillotine 7000+
Mortal Strike 3000
Melee 1500 (3000 crits)
So exactly how are we healing through this as a ret pally?

Just soloed him as an MM hunter. Dismissed pet, engaged boss. Feigned death, boss reset at bottom of the stairs. Sneaked past him, up the stairs. Set pet to stay. Hopped onto the ledge mentioned in the above comments. Sent pet to aggro boss. Raptor was unable to attack me, boss was busy with pet tank (turtle). Just made sure to stop attacking while he was watching me, and specced pet into improved mending, and used the improved mend major glyph. Pet stayed up fine, easy fight. Will be repeating until I get the mount.

Soloable as an elemental shaman (spiritbear, kel'thuzad realm, 5434 GS but GS really means nothing). General totem makeup for this: Tremor, Totem of Wrath, Mana Spring, Wrath of Air.
Burst down his raptor, pop all cooldowns such as trinkets, elemental mastry, EXCEPT for heroism.
Once raptor dies, drop earth elemental totem. (this will take away your tremor so be careful of fears). Heal yourself and the elemental until the timer is up, while still doing damage to Mandokir as much as possible. Be wary of mana in this phase.
By the time the timer on the earth elemental is finished, Bloodlord Mandokir's Fury/Enrage will be gone, so he doesn't hit as hard. I dropped Fire elemental at this time (make sure to re-drop tremor) because I was behind on personal heals. This phase is once again heavy on self, but I didn't heal the elemental, and I didn't have to heal as much as during Earth phase.
During Fire phase, my cooldowns were up, so I popped my trinket, Elemental Mastery, and Heroism this time, and burst Mandokir to about 20% health.
After this, my Fire elemental's timer was up and I was taking all of Mandokir's damage, so I was healing slightly more (Make sure to re-drop totem of wrath here). However, there was not much health to burn through, and he, of course, died.
Mana is important when soloing: Heals burn through a lot when used in conjunction with dps, so try to keep up water shield as much as possible, and use thunderstorm when needed. This fight takes luck and some coordination, so don't be worried if you do not get it first try (although waiting for those elemental timers suck. Don't try this without elementals, as they are the only way to survive the phase after Ohgan dies).
Hope you find this helpful,
~Spiritbear, Aveza (Kel'Thuzad)

This is easily soloable by any level 80 hunter. Firstly- 124 resilience is required to eliminate crits. If you're having trouble keeping your pet up then get 3 piece T1. Clearing trash is not important. Aggro the Speaker and set your pet on him, MD pet and run up the stairs, as Bloodlord runs down. If you have this bit sorted, hop down onto the ledge. If the placement isn't right, use eyes of the beast to manually move your pet. Note: You cannot get any aggro from Mandokir whilst on the ledge. Use MD and keep hitting Mandokir. I don't kill the raptor, I aggro it and then it stays off my pet, whilst being unable to attack me. Nuke Mandokir, keep pet up. Once he is dead put your pet on passive (so he teleports to you) and FD. Stand up, raptor should despawn. Loot. Win. Been doing this for months, no luck yet.

There are mixed reports about how easy this guy is for each class.
I can confirm 100% that this guy poses 0 issue for a Bear-specced/geared Druid at lvl80, It's a painless tank-spank kill. At my GS (2800 Wow-heroes) I never drop below ~95% health doing it the smart way - Everything was absorbed by Savage Defense, dodged, or if he did happen to get a clean hit on me - it was instantly healed back by I-LOTP.
*THE THING PEOPLE MISS* When i'm reading comments that say they are getting killed especially if their tank gear isn't the greatest...
As soon as the Raptor dies either by you killing it first, or just side damage, switch to Cat Form - and Dash - to get distance between you and the boss - then for the 2 minutes his debuff is up just run around the walls of his area he never catches up to you and you are out of range of his fearing/whirlwinding. When the debuff is about to wear off turn around, switch back to bear and resume ownage. If your gear is terri-bad just turn off autoattack when he focuses on you. The better your gear gets the more tank-spank this becomes as you can ignore gazes and even ignore his enrage.
You'll want to clear his trash in the room anyway as the raptor packs can drop a minipet that is worth over 3k on most servers, and bijou's sell well to rep grinders.

Heres how i solo him as a deep demology specced Warlock (other spec will do too, allthough i do recommend using a felguard for this guy).
1. You DONT need to clear any trash for this boss. After you have entered the room, run to the add in front of Mandokir's stairs. Dismount, and let your pet, (if felguard) intercept the add and hit it ONE time, then immediately set it to passive.
2. Now you run up the stairs, and just before you stand face to face with mandokir, you jump to the left, so you land on the platform. On the platform you make a demonic circle.
3. Now you jump down from the platform so you land to the right of the stairs, you click on follow on your pet, so it comes to your spot, along with the add. You finish the add off, and mandokir will come running down the stairs and attack you. Let your pet get aggro on both the raptor and boss, and then teleport to your circle of the platform. It is important that your pet has aggro on the boss before you teleport to circle since he will just teleport you back down from the platform if not. It is also important that your pet is fighting the boss at the same spot as you jumped down, since he might otherwise get out of range from your health funnel and other spells.
4. Nuke the raptor down first and spam health funnel. The sunder is a bigger pain the boss enrage. Also make sure you DONT damage the boss when your pet is attacking the raptor, since you will very easy overthrow your pets threat in the beginning of the fight, causing you to be teleported down, and perhaps getting feared into a pack of mobs. which will as a lock, be a guaranteed wipe. It is pretty much just tank and spank from here, except you function as both the dps and healer. When raptor is dead, your pet WILL need much healing until the enrage wears off (even more than when the raptor was alive and spamming sunders). With this method, you avoid getting attacked in any way, as long as your pet is highest on threat. You also avoid getting feared, and he does not fear your pet at any point during the fight. Keep your threat below your pets the whole fight, and its a piece of cake.

Soloable by Frost Mages.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skMxqM92gvg
Not my video, but it DOES work. Could potentially work with Arcane, but you'd lose the safety net of your barrier for when you inevitably !@#$ up and he teleports you to him, stuns you, fears you, and all around beats you to a pulp. And, in a fight as long as this (took me 14 minutes first time), you are GOING to mess up.
EDIT: To prepare for this, I highly suggest that you throw on your PvP boots (meaning boots with Tuskar's Vitality for the 8% run speed boost. Every little bit helps!), and glyph Ice Barrier and Evocate. Evocate isn't NECESSARY, but it's nice to have a heal for when you get to the pyramid 10 seconds ahead of him and need to recover from your last $%^& up. When jumping off the pyramid, do NOT use Slowfall. It will cause him to detect you as unattackable and he will teleport you to him. To a beefier class this might not matter, but as I'm sure you know by now, mages are quite fragile and crumple easily with a raid boss punching them in the eye.

This one is tough to solo as a modestly geared FROST specced death knight, but if you're like me and you don't want to change your spec just to farm for mounts (tiger boss is easy in frost), Mandokir can be accomplished in Frost with a little patience.
Start out by clearing the trash around his little step pyramid, then start the fight and nuke the raptor down quickly - Around the time raptor dies you're probably going to want to use a zombie sacrifice to heal up - at this point he goes berzerk for a little while and unless you're well geared this can be painful, especially without the healing ability of blood spec. At this stage I run down the pyramid and run in circles around the thing until his berzerk ends - he will charge you and fear you a few times, but you avoid a HEAP of damage by staying out of melee with him as much as possible. Sometimes you'll get lucky and he will glitch a bit onto the side of the pyramid and will be much easier to kill.
If he hasn't glitched when berzerk ends, back up the pyramid, and dps - throw in blood strikes to heal up on a regular basis - when sacrifice is getting close to cooldown pop AOTD and sacrifice to heal up - continue nuking, sacrifice should cool down again not long after your raise dead and in plenty of time for one last sacrifice heal.

Either it's a gear issue or I'm just totally missing something but the above retribution pallies (and other comments elsewhere) seem to include the "make sure to bubble at" or "do X to kill the raptor as fast as possible" but after going in there blind it was an easy single attempt and the same every reset since (and I'm possibly the most unskilled ret pally out there =P).
Have a WoW-Heroes score of around 2600 if you're into that sort of thing (made up of 2pc T9.232, the PoS mace and a mix of S8 and S9 ret arena gear). Health is around 28k with kings and 600-700 resilience.
Buffs - Retribution Aura, Seal of Light, Blessing of Kings
Rotation - JoW, CS, DS, CS (macro'd a castsequence for the fight since I'm lazy)
Walk through the speaker at the bottom to aggro him and head to the top, one shot him and wait for them to come up. Kill the raptor first and then the boss with the rotation above, hitting FoL every time AoW goes off (JoW covers any mana used without issue) and bore the boss to death. The enrage, watching and whirlwind are almost not worth noting since FoL/DS/SoL cover anything taken. The fear however is somewhat annoying when he's beating on your back and you aren't regaining but 90% of the time the next couple storms and seal procs refill it. For the other 10% throw a single holy light after the fear and problem solved. Never needed to resort to LoH or my bubble and never bothered even messing with sacred shield or wings.
As I said, it's certainly not an abundance of personal skill, it's just THAT stupidly easy as a ret pally in pvp gear.
TL:DR - Seal of light, judge wisdom, kill the raptor first, kill the boss.

This boss is soloable by a Death Knight, if you know what you're doing. I did it in PVP gear, 49/22/0 PVP build.
Step 1. Clear the entire area, so you have room to kite.
Step 2. Fight on the tower, and kill the raptor first.
Step 3. When he enrages, jump down, and go into unholy presence for the increased movement speed.
Step 4. Kite him around by running behind the tower, and around in circles, using rune tap and whatever you have to keep your health up while he charges and strikes you while he is in range.
Step 5. Once his enrage is over, you can just DPS him down, pop AotD or whatever you want, he's easy once his enrage is over.
Step 6: Loot boss, enjoy contents (or not)

So finally, I decided to solo this as a Moonkin. I killed him with relative ease on my 2nd attempt and then went back the next reset to try again but kept wiping. Eventually, I killed him and yes hate me, he dropped the mount on my second kill! My Moonkin gear was horribly out of date so I used full Resto gear, with the Starfire idol - 5.6k GS but 0 hit on gear. However, the Spirit was very useful.
The tactic:
Part I
You do not need to clear anything, stealth up to the top of the temple. Throw Regrow, Rejuv and 1 Lifebloom up on yourself, then spam Wrath to proc Eclipse (do not use DoTs yet).
The moment he dismounts, switch to the add, Barkskin and nuke it down with Eclipsed Starfire. This should not take too long and by the time he's dead, your HoTs should have kept you to between 75%-100% HP. Apply new HoTs but do not shift out before the mount is dead, he really hurts without the armor bonus.
Part II
Once the mount is dead, he enrages and this is where it gets tricky. Every time he casts Threatening Gaze, ecpect to take a 10-13k hit from Guillotine. From what I read here on wowhead, it is possible to avoid Guillotine by not doing any damage, not even from Thorns during that period. This did not work out for me, I kept taking Guillotines no matter what and kept getting gibbed.
Instead, you should just nuke him as hard as possible, during Guillotine, etc. It is important to keep HoTs on yourself the entire time, the moment they run off, expect to take a lot of damage. Keep in mind the bloom from Lifebloom, this will grant you a decent amount of HP, I recommend not rolling Lifeblooms. Just use Starfall, Treants and both DoTs, keep healing yourself and whenever he starts whirling, run up/down the stairs while HoTing yourself. Eventually you will wear him down.
Do not be disheartened when you get gibbed, just go back and try again. It is possible to get him into a cooldown rotation in which he casts gaze before / after whirling so you have a decent amount of time to run away and apply new HoTs. Use Eclipse to its full potential, but remember to play it safe. Healing takes priority.
Good luck, my featherly companions!

Just died to him as an 80 feral druid in 5.2k GS (triumph/t9 gear with a couple of frost/t10 pieces mixed in). I didn't know that killing the ambassador would enrage the boss, and never cleared the adds nearby. Result? His fear ran me into a group of adds, and the knockbacks from the aforementioned adds combined with more fears ended up with me tanking almost all of the "room" plus an enraged boss (the tiger was down).
So kill the adds.
Edit: As noted above, you can also neutralise the fear danger by fighting him at the top of the tower (kite the ambassador to the top of the tower and kill him there). The boss will run to the foot of the steps, but run back up. If you tank him on the back of the tower, he will only be able to fear you a little ways down the stairs before it wears off, and you can run back up (watch your step so that you don't fall off the stairs, as he tends to fear you near the edge). Dropped the Warblade of the Hakkari for me; looks nice, but not tradeable and I can't use it =/

This fight may be hard for blood specced DK's, but if you follow these easy steps and you will be able to solo and farm for the mount.
1. Run past Bloodlord up to the top of the pyramid and then pop AoD (army of the dead) and wait for your rune cooldowns
2. Make your ghouls attack Bloodlord and have them keep aggro. While your ghouls have Bloodlord's aggro dps his pet raptor until it dies.
3. Set MoB (mark of blood) on Bloodlord and use Icy touch and Plague strike. You will have about 50% health left so use Death Strike then Heart Strike.
4. Rinse and repeat this process while your dpsing Bloodlord.
5. This is the hard part...loot him!
**not responsible for ANY deaths**
This should be soloable with a 4.5k gearscore or better

Soloed as a Rogue. Not the first to do it, but he didn't post here ;) Full 264/277 with PvP gear for crit immunity, agility and parry/defense gems in everything that I don't use as raid gear, lifeward weapons, Corroded Skeleton Key, and PvP trinket (armor link:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Mal%27Ganis&cn=Minhjaal
, I may be logged out in a slightly different set but I change things around to account for the hit loss from using a PvP trinket...swap out tiny abom+pvp chest for 264 resilience trinket+heroic ikfirus chest) Use every buff in the book - stoneblood flask, kings/motw/fort scrolls, agility/sta food, healing pots. Combined dodge+parry while fully buffed is nearly 60%, not quite 10k armor (not including the indestructible pot)
Use an Indestructible Pot just before you kill the speaker so you have a healing potion for later. Ghostly Strike Oghan and put a little DPS on him, until Mandokir comes. Then switch targets, pop the Corroded Skeleton Key & all DPS timers. Raptor will die to Blade Flurry. When the skeleton key shield ends, hit evasion, prep, evasion again when it ends. If glyphed, use Cloak of Shadows after your second evasion ends as well. Riposte whenever its up.
Once evasions have run out, start using Ghostly Strike. Also, vanish+sinister strike or another special after he casts Threatening Gaze on you. With evasion up it doesn't matter, your combined dodge+parry should be at or over 100%, but without evasion you're gambling whether he actually lands a 7-8k hit on you. Vanish removes the debuff and, if you hit him at the same instant, doesn't cause him to evade bug.
Trinket the first fear asap. If you get a second fear, you just have to eat it...but if you're lucky he'll cast Whirlwind or Threatening Gaze just after he fears, so he'll stand there flailing at empty air rather than actually hitting you.
Pot when necessary and just keep burning him down. First few times you try this you'll probably die, or if you do get the kill it'll be with a few thousand (or even just a few hundred) hitpoints left. Once your technique is refined, it becomes much easier - I typically survive with 15-20k HP.
Of course, when 4.0 hits, things will change...might be harder, might be easier. DEFINITELY will be easier in Cataclysm at 85, though!
Enjoy your mindless farming. :)

Soloing as a fairly well geared Ele Shaman is easy. Get into your pvp spec, or just use the Stoneclaw Totem glyph for the fight on your PvE spec.
Pull the boss and drop Stoneclaw totem and Fire Elemental totem. Allow the elemental to tank the raptor and just nuke Mandokir. Be sure to throw down Tremor totems when a fear is coming up and keep putting down Stoneclaw every cooldown.
Heal yourself when you drop low and heal your Fire Elemental, by the time you've killed Mandokir the fire elemental would have the raptor on around 10%, so it's just a case of finishing it off.
This way you don't have to deal with his enrage which can be quite scary if he fears before you heal up. Just gets rid of the chance of failure this way.

Prot paladin with sanct, seal of heal and of course RF and ret aura. I am still not sure what half the emotes were meant to tell me but i plowed on through it without a care in the world. Light healed me up to full and kept me there, and judge mana along with sanct kept my mana topped off.
To this day i still dont know his abilities or mechanics.

If you can't solo this boss as a warrior, then there is something wrong with you.
I beg to differ, this is a rather tough fight to solo as a warrior. I'm a fury warrior with 4/5 sanctified ICC gear various 25man trimmings (with heroic items in there aswell ), and while i can faceroll through the rest of ZG, Hakkar included, I simply cannot manage to pull off soloing Mandokir.
using my prot spec in fury gear, I can get him to about half health while killing Ohgan first, while not killing Ohgan, they just eventually overpower me. It's probably do-able if you've got proper tank gear, but I do not. Regardless, your comment of "If you can't solo this boss as a warrior, then there is something wrong with you" ? Yeah, thats totally and utterly wrong.

Just soloed this today (9/23/2010) as an elemental shaman in ICC 25 quality gear. I imagine it can be done with less gear but more the better. I used Tremor, Totem of Wrath, Healing Stream, and Wrath of Air and my normal raiding spec/glyphs. A few things I noticed during the fight: His sunder has a *very* short duration and with mild kiting, it falls right off. Stay out of the whirlwind and use the time he emotes "Bloodlord Mandokir is watching you" to throw a heal or two on yourself. I used a runic health potion once because I got unlucky with his charge stun while running out of his whirlwind. So to sum it up:
Step one: Clear the room, it makes life easier
Step two: Do NOT under ANY circumstances kill Ohgan first. I attempted this after seeing a video of a warrior soloing Bloodlord and...it didn't end well
Step three: Light AoE is ok but focus on Bloodlord. Step out of whirlwind and let sunders drop off.
Their duration is *very* short (about 3-5 seconds)
Step four: Heal as needed. I finished the fight with about 70% mana and never used a mana pot...staying alive is the most important part.
I hope this helps someone else, good luck to all hoping for the raptor!
*edit* It seems I wasn't paying close enough attention to the sunder: Ohgan is the source of the sunder rather than Bloodlord...I had a difficult time today letting the sunders fall off since both mobs can't be slowed by abilities I have nor does instant ghost wolf let me put enough distance between. Don't try to run up the temple and jump off, Bloodlord will pull you right back to him. Trial and error....and patience, lots of patience...

I've encountered something peculiar with this boss. While solo'ing Bloodlord Mandokir, I killed him while the
Threatening Gaze
debuff was on me, and this polearm dropped. Out of curiosity, I killed him in the same fashion thrice more within the month and they dropped again each time!
This is either a rare coincidence or some loot glitch we weren't supposed to know about. Likely the former, but I recommend you do the same and see what happens.

While I wouldn't recommend killling the raptor for anyone struggling with this, the main challenge here is the sunder armor it does. This SA does not appear to have a limit to stacks (regardless of what the tooltip on wowhead says). Chances are it will fall off often enough not to be an issue with a tank spec/gear, but things can go south very fast with a dps spec and 0 armor.
Use whatever means you have available to reset it if it stacks too high (avoidance abilites/trinkets, bubble etc).

Solo'd as an 80 Ret pally in iLvl 245-264 gear (gs 5794) with little difficulty. Burned down the raptor, then attacked Bloodlord. Kept myself healed up with Flash of Light when Art of War procced and tossed in a Sacred Shield while as often as possible while both were still up. Other than that, it was pretty easy.

Solo'd as a mage in 4.0.1 (fire, average ilvl 269). Somewhat fiddly, prepare to die a few times till you get the hang of it. Slightly easier if you kill the speaker to start and then reset it so he's immediately active.
Mana shield up at all times, glyph helps. Sneak past and stand at the top of the stairs, open with a pyro+fireball, LB, combustion and impact/fireblast to spread dots to the pet. keep nuking, replace the mana shield when it's down, keep nuking. When shield goes down again pop mirrors, switch and burst down the pet, pop shield back up. If you're below 60-70% hp pop glyph'd evocation to top up, then switch back to bloodlord and nukeorama. You'll probably cop 1-2 annoying fears to deal with as best you can. if you get in a bind you can try dropping off the platform to give yourself a break to bandage/nuke, but he'll often teleport you back and/or take fall damage if you can't get slowfall off.
Key points seem to be getting the pet down, as it hits for 1k a hit which adds up. Not standing in WW is probably a plan. And absorb as much as you can with mana shield.

I just solo'd this as a combat rogue. Didn't use any pots or anything, but I ended up with about 8k HP. Here's what I did:
Started with building 4 combo points on him, revealing strike, blade flurry, eviscerate, killing spree. A few more SS's killed the raptor, then hit recoup at 5 points (keep this up at all times). I waited until my HP was starting to drop a little before popping evasion. You just gotta hope you live through the rest and deal enough damage to drop him before he drops you. Good luck!
P.S. Thekal is a breeze now that we have recoup. I barely dropped below 50% during the entire encounter.

Soloable as a Fury warrior. gs of about 5k. using bloodthirst still. Fight takes a little longer than old bloodthirst speck.....acually about 2x as long. Using two 2-handed axes for more dps. Does not matter if you kill the raptor first or not. simply spam bloodthirst and what ever else you want to hit. Might have to hit your 264 trinket of 6400 bubble and maybe a enraged regeneration. depends on how much he hits you. kinda random as i have killed him using no trinket buff and enraged regeneration and i have had to use both of them. Now i use them both just to simply have a safety net. Tiger boss is the same. no need for a shield. wearing all prot gear no extra buffs. this fight is a simple duration fight. Bloodthirst.....revenge...bloodthirst.....thunderclap....bloodthirst.....sunder.... you can guess what happens next.

Just soloed this guy as a shadow priest. I was in T10, but it would have been possible with crappier gear I'm sure. I based my strategy on the feral druid strat posted by Ceemeeir above.
1) Clear the room.
2) Fear ward and Vamp embrace (obviously).
3) Kill the raptor fast.
4) While Mandokir is enraged, kite him around the room while keeping SWP and DP up on him. Since we don't have a travel form like druids do, a speed potion might help here. If your health gets low, run up the tower and jump off with Levitate, then heal yourself while he's trying to get to you.
5) When the enrage is over, you can just let him beat on you while you finish him off. He doesn't hit very hard, it's the raptor and the enrage that will kill you if you let them.
Good luck.

Soloed as an arcane mage with average ilvl 256, nothing you cant get from some heroic farming.
While until now we had to kite him along forever, you can zerg him down pretty fast.
Just pop cooldowns like arcane power and mirror image (preferably with the 4p T10set for extra damage) and start spamming. Ignore raptor if all goes well you should kill Mandokir right about the time the mirrors fade, and only have to deal with the raptor which is fairly easy at only 90k hp. Might have to pop a healing potion and some mana shields if you're very close.

Only attempted this solo a few times before patch 4.01 on my warrior. Got him down to 60% with or without the raptor up as protection. I heard warriors who soloed it as fury with Bryntroll and a shield, but I didn't have that option.
After patch I tried again, but as fury. Did about 8k dps took him down in about a minute. Popped enrage regen at 40% hp. Average item level 259.
Did not kill the raptor until the boss was dead. Very easy.

Soloed today as level 80 mage (4.0.1 patch). Got only intellect and molten armor up, opened up with my elemental, when boss ran on me i summoned mirror images and i pulled all damage on boss, letting my elemental solo the raptor so he won't interrupt me. Used cold snap for double deep freeze, just one block, healing evocation. My equipment is full wrathful but shoulders, and low level wrath weapon. GL Hunting :) Luckily he dropped Razzashi raptor on my first try ^^

Killed as a mostly ICC 10 geared swords/axe combat rogue, as long as you keep Recuperate up, this fight has little, if any, challenge to a good rogue.

For anyone who plans on soloing this guy with a hunter, I suggest bringing a spirit beast for some added healing from Spirit Mend, as he has an annoying habit of getting a melee swing (Or worse, one of his abilities) off on you after using his charge (The normal one, not the one from his Threatening Gaze).
It's random to the point where I've ended the fight with almost full health at times, yet ended with almost nothing at other times despite using a health potion and bandaging myself multiple times. My pet never lost aggro from him, either.

Just ran ZG solo on my lvl 80 DK, he hit me with an ability thats not on wowheads ability list, i was called guillotine and it hit me for 6.6k damage. i was very suprised by this. I know i'm not tank spec'd but that seems a little much for a level 60 raid

Soloed today as lvl 80 BM hunter, with lvl 80 Spirit beast. Am wearing four pieces of Furious Gladiator. Not an uber player by any means.
Zinro's advice (Zinro on 01/08/2009 (Patch 3.0.3)) was very helpful. I did the boss in the way he suggested, and worked wonders. After one death (after which I set aside some time to read up some suggestions and found these posts), the boss was at the bottom of the stairs. Sent the pet ahead to aggro as I ran straight through him and up the stairs. With pet on Defensive, he was able to keep himself, the boss and that damn raptor right there a little forward of the stairs.
I in the meantime ran up the stairs and jumped to the ledge (missed the first time) and stood near the forward edge, and near the corner. I suppose if you're too close to the pyramid wall, there is a chance that you won't be able to keep LOS with the boss or your pet.
Both the boss and the raptor kept aggro on the pet and kept attacking him. I'm guessing since I was on the ledge, the raptor had no active target other than my pet.
I kept up Mend Pet constantly, but also found when Spirit Mend was up, it was more powerful than Mend Pet. Of course, Auto Shot kept going, and I fired off Serpent Sting and Arcane Shot when I could, and kept up Misdirection as best I could. I also happened to have the Mend Pet and Misdirection glyphs, and Improved Mend Pet talent.
As for the boss's Watch, he could put me on watch, but for whatever reason, nothing happened when it elapsed, even when I was doing something. Healing, shooting, didn't matter.
As such, I was free to shoot when I could, and keep my pet up as he whittled away at the boss's health. My gear isn't that great, so it took quite a while, but the boss finally went down.
I jumped off the ledge to finish up the boss at one or two percent, as I wasn't sure if the boss could bug out, or make him unlootable, or whatever. Then helped my pet take down the raptor, which in comparison to the boss, was easy peesy. EDIT: When I did this a second time, I did not jump down after boss was killed, and the raptor just stood there and became evasive. However, once I did jump down, it came after me as normal.
Didn't have the mount drop (god dammit), but at least I can solo him now.

Soloed as a Combat Rogue (imp recup), finished with full health.
Opened with Ambush, got 5cp for recup, and then killed his raptor and sprinted away.
I cleared the adds in the path leading up to him from the entrance in preparation for running as his enrage wore off, but partway down the path he teleported me back to him! It was rather strange, it seems he had gotten stuck in the bamboo and so now I was stuck as well. There was about 10 seconds left on his enrage though, so I just popped evasion and dps'ed him down, he went down easily. But then I had to hearth to get out of the bamboo *facepalm*

For any hunters looking to solo him on your last few (or maybe just last) reset, I find it much simpler to not follow the old rule of "keep close." After clearing the room and MDing both mobs to my pet, I get to max range and fire away. When he uses his gaze, start strafing while still attacking. He'll miss most charges if you're far enough away, and even if he manages to hit and fear you your pet should be out of range of it and as such he'll switch right back to it.
Be vigilant with your mend pet, FD in the rare case your pet loses aggro for an extended period of time, and you should finish him off easily.
The Misdirect glyph is also insanely useful for this and any soloing work. Make a macro to auto-target it to your pet and a single button press every few seconds guarantees you'll never pull aggro off of your pet. In particular on Bloodlord, using it before Chimera Shot will prevent you from pulling the raptor with healing threat.
