Actually, chaos theory is mathematical modeling that deals with systems which are extremely sensitive to initial conditions so that it appears to be random when there is actually nothing random involved. The weather would be an example of such a system. The most famous example is the butterfly effect. The idea that a butterfly flapping it's wings in Brazil can start a series of events that results in a tornado in Texas.

You wouldn't be able to just burst him down because he goes immune every 25% (for ~40 seconds if you're not killing rifts) and summons an additional rift. My guess is you'd either have to kite him a good bit or dedicate DPS to killing the adds the rifts spawn without doing too much damage to the rifts themselves.

Tried as a Shadow priest, Druid healer, Warrior tank, 2 Ret Pallys. Got him to 25%. Then it was over :P

This is somewhat easy by kiting him.
The Chaotic Rifts have 2 "states", one with a 15 yard range aoe, and one with unlimited range, every 25% the boss charges the rifts which makes them change to the unlimited range AoE.
The strategy is:
Run from the random spawned rifts, DPS him down 25% as quick as possible, when he starts casting "Charge Rifts" you will be hit by all of the rifts up, you need to stay spread and and heal the group up.
When he goes out of the "Charge Rifts"-phase then just pick him up and kite away from the rifts as he spawn him, just like you did in the start. Repeat until he is dead.
Just remember to make sure you got lots of room to kite, on our completion we almost ended up at the first boss.

you dont need to kite him, we've gotten achievment a few times with resto druid/feral druid and 3 random dps, just heal thru the damage and kill the spawns but not the rifts...takes self control from the dps to not just aoe, but definitely possible without kiting.

This was quite simple once you figured out how to do this.
1. DPS the boss to its invulnerable state.
2. When Anomalus becomes invulnerable have the group stand on max range behind the tank, by doing this only the tank will be taking damage from the Rifts. And the strain on the healer much less.
Just let the mobs spawned from the rifts run past the tank, back to the group and let them DPS them down.
3. When Anomalus change back to his normal state, let the tank kite him back to the group, away from the Rifts.
Remember that you are not bound to fight at the boss-plateau. You can kite him all over the place.
4. Repeat.

This does not work, or it didn't as of a few days ago. I did notice that the rift's lightning bolts only hit the three closest people during invulnerabilities, however. So it is possible to pick and choose who takes the bolts during invulnerability phases.

We just completed this achievement. The main reason we kited the boss was to get away from his rifts a bit so we didn't accidentally kill them. Otherwise, there didn't seem much reason to move back. The rifts have to have like a 10,000 yard range and ignore any sort of line of sight with their beams (including walls in the dungeon).
So we'd knock him down 25. Move back from the rifts. Kill the adds as they arrived. Used AoE healing to keep ourselves up. Then we collected our loot and went home. Was quite easy.
Oh, the person was right about only the closest three people to the rift get hit by their lightning. So as people getting zapped went low in health, healthy people would cycle in and grab the bolts instead.

Not sure why no one has posted this yet...
Dampen Magic
This completely trivializes the fight. I healed it as a paladin without breaking a sweat. The AoE from the portals is completely absorbed and does almost no damage. This combined with fighting him progressively further from his starting point and you're golden.

Did this as a DK Frost Tank
1. Start tanking the boss at the very bottom of the ramps, so that your DPS don't accidently jump off the edge when kiting.
2. When the boss makes a rift, kite him and move back at least 20 yards
3. Every 25%, he will become invulnerable and turn into a rift himself (The "rift phase"). This lasts around 20-30 seconds, and all rifts previously made have infinite range. Have the entire party stand 15+ yards directly behind the tank. If done properly, all lightning attacks by the rifts will only hit the tank.
4. During the "rift phase", all DPS should burn down all the adds that pass by the tank.
5. When "rift phase" ends, kite the boss another 20 yards, and proceed to attack him. Keep kiting when he makes a rift, rinse and repeat steps 3 and 4 when he goes back into rift phase again.
6. He does "rift phase" at 75, 50, and 25% health.
7. Dampen magic from a mage makes this fight extremely simple. All lightning ticks from the rifts do only 200-300 damage instead of 500-600. Anti-magic shield and icebound fortitude also helped to mitigate the incoming damage to me in the "rift phase"
8. Good luck.

No one mentioned this. I though it was important. The chaotic rifts before the boss can be killed. They don't affect the achievement.

The best way we found to do this is to clear the rock ledge thats at the bottom of the two platforms where the boss is.
At the first phase shift (75%) simply stand with the boss at his starting platform and nuke down the non-elite adds as they spawn.
Once his immunity buff runs out kite him down to the next platform and nuke him down to 50% where he will become immune once more, stand there with him and again burn the non-elite adds that keep spawning.
When the immunity buff runs out kite him down off the second platform to the rock ledge, once he gos immune repeat as before, there will be many more adds spawning now from all the previous chaotic rifts so it will become chaos, survive and focus on the boss, he will only have around 20-25% left.
Its a very good idea to bring a mage if your going for this achievement for dampen magic, or have a mage outside buff you with it;) it will make the rifts do minimal damage to you.

I couldn't say that's a hard achievement since the party understands what to do.Good dps, especially ranged,is really good for the fast kill of the boss. Also the boss needs good kiting.
I did it with a shaman who opened heroism, thats useful as well.As a mage,I used Dampen Magic on the other party members for the reduction of the damage dealt by the boss. His adds should be killed by aoe or just kited as well.
Thats how my party did it.Good luck!

We have done this with a group seriously lacking in AoE (Feral Druid tank, Resto Druid, 2x Enhancement Shaman, Affliction Warlock). Here is a way to do it, if you have a similar handicaped group.
Some useful "facts" about the fight. The lightning of the Chaos Rifts hits the person closest to them, then bounces for a limited distance. If there are no other players close by (my guess would be around 15 yards), then only the person closest gets hit. The rifts always spawned near the boss. The adds spawning will not aggro you, if you are far enough from the rifts.
We found out that the adds spawning from the rifts will not aggro, if you have enough distance from them. Also, you can outrange the uncharged lightning. So, at the start of the fight, the tank pulled the boss to the far end of the starting platform (first platform). When the rifts spawned, the tank backed away, till he did not get hit by the uncharged lightnings, and the adds did not aggro anyone anymore. You will get aggro from the first couple of adds spawning, but they will charge the healer, and the rest of the group can easyly handle them. Now, everyone backs away from the tank, because the boss will charge the rifts, so the lightning's range becomes unlimited. When this happens, everyone should be at least 15 yards (not a precise number, just an indication) away from the tank, as the lightning hit the closest person (tank) first, then bounces to the other players it they are too close. You will know exactly, if you are too close. There is no mistaking the arcing bolts of energy :D. Now, the situation is as follows: the tank is away from the invulnerable boss, and gets hit by the charged lightning. The adds spawning stay idle next to the Rifts. No one, except for the tank, gets any damage. You just wait out the time the boss is invulnerable. Repeat this two more times, and you have the achievment. Note that the ads can join the boss when he drops invulnerability if they are too close to him. This was the reason of our only wipe while following this strategy.
It took us a while to get the boss down by 25% as most of the time all the melee shamans stood a long distance away, but it was easy to heal through, because only a couple of adds aggroed (and they went for the healer straight in the loving arms of the melee), so the tank only took damage from the rift lightnings, and the boss. Hope this was helpfull. If we would have had more ranged dps, the fight would have been very easy, but it was still manageable as it was. Remember, the lightning hits the person closest to the rifts, then bounces to the players around. Outrange the bounce, and only one person will get hit by the lightning.

Does this include the Chaotic Rifts around the platforms before the boss as well? Or just the ones he spawns?

Okay, I tried the strategy to kite Anomalus, and things were going well until about the 3rd Invulnerable phase - when he went invulnerable, every single add from every rift, all the way back to his first platform, suddenly aggro'd and came after us, wiping us out long before his invulnerable phase ended. This happened all 5 times we tried it until the group broke up from frustration.
Is that supposed to happen? Are people actually dealing with the 25-30 adds that swarm you all at once? Our group was geared fairly well, but anyone the adds were attacking was taken out in seconds, especially if they had the nasty +2000 Arcane Damage debuff.
It seems like the only other option would be to tank Anomalus on his own platform, damaging him quickly enough that he only opens a rift every time he gets to his invulnerable phase, and just deal with the adds as they spawn while eating the Chaos Rift damage.

did this for third time today with " split personality " on same run. well, what can I say.. after you learn how to do, everything is a piece of cake. Have your party always far from tank AND rifts, of course not too much that healer cant reach the tank. Tank will always be standing between the party and the rifts, at least 20 yards away from both groups. kite boss to down phase by phase. thats all... gl

A GUIDE TO GETTNG THIS ACHIEVEMENT, SUMMARIZED FROM COMMENTS BELOW:
Understanding the fight:
The boss goes
immune
for 45 seconds every 25%.
The boss will not reset from being kited away (which is good, here).
The constant lightning from the rifts,
despite the graphic
that looks like a direct lightning to you and your party members,
actually works like chain lightning
cast on the player nearest to the rift (15yd jump-between, see
Charged Chaotic Energy Burst
).
This is the most confusing part by far.
(Thus, if no one else is near that person, it will only hit them.)
Strategy:
Clear a long line of trash along which you will be retreating and kiting the boss. I recommend taking the hallway path rather than the other platform path to avoid LOS issues on the platform ramps.
<<Phase 1: Normal>>
Pull the boss on his platform and burn him to 75% as fast as possible. Lightning from rifts has only 15 yards during this phase and can be avoided almost entirely by backing up.
<<Phase 2: Immunity>>
When he goes immune, he will always spawn a rift. All rifts have infinite range during this phase, but they will only cast on the player closest to them, which should be the tank (then jumping 15 yards if anyone is close to that player).
Melee dps:
quickly run back to the healer and maintain 15yd from the tank.
Do not go near the tank to dps mobs or you will chain lightning the rest of the party.
Ranged dps:
maintain 15yd away from the tank.
Cast aoe around the tank and/or healer to kill mobs as they flow in. Single-target kill caster mobs that stay between you and the tank and cast on the healer - the melee can't go after these casters.
Healer:
Same as ranged, but with healing!
Tank:
use whatever abilities you have within this very narrow range (
15yd from the party
but far back enough to pick up adds and avoid the rifts when Phase 1 comes back) to pick up the incoming adds as best you can for the rest of these 45 seconds. Avoid your temptation to run back to the party to pick up mobs you missed. (If you do this, you will chain the lightning to the rest of your party which is a wipe, often.)
Repeat <<Phase 1>> and <<Phase 2>> until he's dead.
Extra Notes:
Mage
Dampen Magic
makes this trivial and may even prevent the need for following most of the guidelines above.
Faster dps on boss = fewer rifts = fewer adds (especially important for Immunity #3). You can try to pull the boss down the ramp first to avoid healer-tank LOS issues and the danger of people falling off the platform, but that will likely give him time to spawn another 1-2 rifts, which is very bad.
Note that
Chaotic Rift
s have upwards of 28k health on heroic mode. You can cast some AoE around these to help pick up adds without fear of killing them, as long as you dont' have the entire party doing so.

Done this today on that setup : Pala(tank) Me(DK-DPS) Mage(FFB) 2Shamans(Both Resto one of them using lighting spells aslwell)
FACTS!
The fight is really easy if you got focused AoE
You can Kite the boss anywhere, so clear the whole place
A Second healer is not mandatory but i belive it is required
We Cleared whole room from rifts and drakes and our ele shammy gone resto, our mage gave us all dampen magic, then we started up the fight.
We went in and bursted him down to 75%, then we all backed off(and the tank) and waited for the mini-adds wich we killed 'till he goes out of immune. When he in vunurable to attacks once more have your tank to get the boss on the platform behind where you will burst him from 75-50%. Back off down since all rifts got unlimited range at that time and got one healer on the group and one on the rest of the party while u AoE the adds down. Repeat, kill boss and earn you achivement! Good luck on that one, can be both easy and hard as hell too
Hope i helped you all :)

This is not a difficult achievement, in fact while it was incredibly healer intensive, we just 4 manned it.
Paladin tank, Resto Druid, Hunter and Warlock.
Paladin did the kite boss and pick up adds, DPS did the standard stay away from tank, that all worked fine. As it happens our damage was not strong enough to kill the adds in the later phases however please note when he dies all ghosts die with him so if you're having trouble killing them and the boss becomes vulnerable at 100k health, just full out nuke him.
At the time of his death, the paladin was carrying the boss along with around 20-25 adds. As the healer, I can confirm I was quite literally spamming Nourish as the only way to keep him alive but it worked and we got the achievement :).

Pretty helpful in terms of the mechanics of the fight, but after doing this last night I have a few pointers to add.
I would recommend the following kite pattern:
1) Burn to 75% on the boss's platform, then everyone, tank included, run to the second platform.
2) Tank stands in center of this platform, everyone else (melee, ranged, doesn't matter) at the back edge of the platform. During each of the subsequent immune phases dps should focus on killing any adds that come in range. When the boss drops immunity and comes for you, everyone re-engage and quickly burn to 50%.
3) Now, everyone drop off the back of the platform onto the ground below. There is a little inset in the ground here, have the tank stand in that and the rest of you 15-20 yards directly behind him.
4) When the boss drops his immunity he will come down the ramp. Don't let him come to you, meet him at the bottom of the ramp and quickly burn him to 25%. He will have a buttload of adds with him by this point. We had all melee dps so after a few failed attempts trying to clear adds we decided to completely ignore them after the second immunity. I recommend this for heavy melee or single target groups.
5) Next, you have a couple of options. You could run to the third platform located directly behind you or you could run behind the giant rock to your back right (assuming you are facing the boss/platform he just came from), toward the entrance to the tree boss. We opted to run behind the rock. If you choose to go this way please note that the rifts on the first two platforms will hit your entire party if you try to run to the rock as a group or in a straight line, as you will all be equidistant from them.
So this is key: if you opt to run behind the rock (or any direction that isn't directly away from the existing rifts) have your tank run along the edge closest to the second platform while the rest of your party runs along the edge closer to the third platform. This will keep your tank as the closest target to the rifts. Keep 15-20 yds from the tank, even behind this rock. I suspect running to the third platform might make this a moot point, but I don't intend to find out anytime soon.
6) When he drops immunity for the final time he should have about 90-100k health left, your dps depending. As soon as you see him coming charge him with everything you've got, ignoring the 40 charged mana wraiths zerging you with him.
We had a s'priest who hates healing begrudgingly heal this. Her healing set leaves a lot to be desired so I off healed a bit during the immune phases. This is a harder achievement even with good gear. It took numerous wipes to get this pattern down, and in the end it was this pattern that got our achievement. I hope it can be a help to others.
Also of note - the wraiths despawn after he dies, although not necessarily immediately.
Edit/Addendum: Did this a second time tonight with another group. This time I was the healer. Using the exact same strategy we one shotted the achievement with three first timers, me performing a role I hadn't done for it before and our fifth having done it as dps a few times now. Third immune phase is very healing intensive; however, this went so smoothly that I'm inclined to remove my above comment about the achievement being one of the harder ones (I won't though). It was cake tonight.

the kiting tactic does NOT work, tried this like 20 seconds ago and he doesn't move an inch while he immune, the best you can do is kill off the mini adds while he can't be attacked. With good dps it will take 3-4 cycles of him going immune.

I did this as a Restoration Shaman Healer some time ago. The way we did it was running back to the platform we came from, when he spawned the rifts and went 'evade'. The tank stayed with the boss, to eat the
Forked
Chain Lightnings. He just stood at the boss, doing nothing. The rifts will spawn adds, but as the healer heals, they will come to him, and the DPS standing with the healer on the other platform can AoE them easily.
During the time when you stand close to the boss to attack him, you'll take some damage if you're melee, since you have to stand next to the tank. Because of this, going with as many ranged as possible is a good idea.

Ayuname
Start off tanking him at the back of his platform then do as follows - For the first 2 immune rifts; use the ramps leading down from each platform as a bottleneck for the adds and aoe them down using your tank as a blockade allowing the boss to come to you after the immune and using the 1st ramp for 1st immune and 2nd ramp for 2nd immune. As for 3rd U can just stay on the 2nd ramp and wait for the immune to wear off with everyone but that tank staying far back. This made it incredibly easy. Keep everyone 15 yards behind the tank during immune phases and have your healer (disc priest works wonders because of damage reductions) heal your tank through the damage received from the chain lightning effect saving your "OH S%$T" damage reduction buttons aswell as any damage increasing stuff ya got; blood lust, trinkets etc for after the 3rd immune rift and this will be a cakewalk. Happy achieving all :).

My point being: if you have pretty good gear (mostly 232-245 in my case) and a healer with some game (err on the side of overheal, the damage can sometimes come in pretty quickly) this one isn't that tough, don't sweat the strategy too much.

This achievement is dramatically easier since the patch that reduced the number of times he summons a rift to once.
Only thing you really need to watch out for is the adds. They can and should be killed. If you have a mage in your group, make sure they Dampen Magic the whole party so the damage from rifts will be greatly reduced.
Other than that, you just have to heal through his immunity and let him have it when he's done.

By Meggido on 01/22/2010 (Patch 3.3.0)
Because he isn't and your just uneducated about the subject.
Uneducated would be a better description for the author of such vernacular and mispelling. Also, I would be willing to bet that the molecules that were once beneath a butterflies wings have had their time in the winds of a tornado, and what is a tornado or a gust of wind other than a large assortment of molecules. So, if I define the point in time when the tornado started as being when some of the molecules occupied the space beneath the butterfly, then perhaps I may call it the starting point of the tornado. I haven't slept tonight so that is the best I can come up with.
I liked mudphud's theory on chaos so much, I think it should become a law.

Now with the expac almost over this is trivial. We dpsed him down to 25%, had one portal, we healed through it (I had to off heal to pick up the slack), and then finish burning down. As long as you have a decently geared healer it will be fine. Just stay right there and dps him.

I just solo'd (yea i am crazy :p also solo'd Magtheridon and more of crazy stuff; word of glory is overpowered imo :P) this achievement with my lvl 80 protection paladin with and average gear of 245 or so. It was a great sense of accomplisment since it was not very easy! After various tries I managed to do it and i reckon only protection paladins can do this solo atm, because of word of glory (and maybe DK's?). The information i am about to give you will definetly help you even if you do it the normal way in a group.
I first cleared the whole down floor of the room where the boss is in, I also cleared the corridor with the plants and big tree mobs up to the corridor leading to the required boss room. Then I pulled the boss and kept moving backwards and keeping myself topped with word of glory. I dragged him all the way to the corridor with the plants, where only the little plants were back. I ignored the spawned rifts and by walking backwards i didnt aggro of the mobs that spawned out of the rifts (yet).
By the time me and the boss got there, he was about 50% health and he started his 45 seconds channel which makes this achievement tricky as it is. Because of this channel all the spawned rifts will do damage to ya, and mobs from them will spawn faster and all of them will come to you. It's about surviving these 45 seconds while he channels and himself is immune.
Key in surviving these 45 seconds were the little plants in the room. they died of some minor aoe/hammer of the righteous. As soon as they are dead they will pop into some sort of herb casing thing while they grow to reappear, but while they are in this state, they will give everyone a buff that restores 2% health and mana every 5 seconds and reduces incoming damage by 25%. This made the fight considerably easy for me!
With nowadays damage you can get the boss to 50% (where he starts his channel) really fast with perhaps 1 or 2 created rifts, so surviving the 45 seconds will be considerably easy (also considering nowadays healing power).
But for those who still struggle with it and for crazy other paladins who want to try to solo this, I recommend above tactics because it worked for me. In groups with a mage dampen magic also makes getting this achievement more easy.

1) Your Searing Totem will beat the crap out of the Chaotic Rifts automatically when the boss goes immune. It really doesnt take too many shots from them for the Rifts go down.
Don't put any totems!
2) Your Lightning Shield will retort the Rift's attack and kill it before the boss' cast time ends.
Don't put Lightning Shield on!
You may call me a stupid for this but I'm missing this achievement for two days in a row because of these things. Be mindful and don't plan to call your Spirit Wolves at any rate.

Soloed, 85 Hunter, iLvL 349
Used turtle to tank, kept him healed. The damage from the active rift on myself in the invulnerable phase is negligible.
This no longer works in 4.2.2 Heroic as he spawns up around 8-10 rifts while invincible which can reach (zap you) across the entire dungeon. Unless he meant soloed but did not get the achievement, since killing him and the rifts is easily done? For some reason they also key your location to any other surviving rifts left alive prior to coming off of the platform, so they join in the zapping fun across the map if you jump down off of his platform. His arcaneship himself cannot go down the stairs to follow. Also the adds get a speed boost of some sort and can easily catch up to you as they quickly spawn. Had also used a turtle tanking pet, and kept him alive easily enough. The adds themselves do not hit so hard in Herioc, but the rifts are a constant sap over 1k/sec EACH once he casts to add his power to the rifts. Otherwise a generic rift while he is protected is easily resisted/negligible. Once he adds his power through
裂隙充能
after charging them first with his invincible
裂隙之盾
, say goodnight sweet Hunter. Pet will usually wipe in a few seconds, followed by a sudden surge of...is that your HEART ABOUT TO BURST? Cardiac overload.
MM Hunter, iLvl 356. Problems seems to be that at about 214,000 hps he appears to double cast the spells, spawning rifts quickly and their firepower at double normal. Perhaps it was just my luck, but it sure wasn't for lack of trying variations, lol!

A word of advice for any walock wearing Balespider's Burning Vestments; the imp spawned by the 2 set bonus can very easily ruin this achievement for you, so make sure you unequip it before attempting it.

Just got this achievement as Retribution Paladin with ilvl 383. Just pop your cooldowns and get as much damage as possible. Used Word of Glory to heal here and there. Didnt go below 90% HP.
Very simple. Just don't hit the rifts and soak the damage. You can still kill the small adds during the Anomalus channels his spell.

Just soloed on a Survival Spec iLvl 369 BE Hunter. Used Camaouflage to get around trash that had Rifts around them. Had to Feign Death on the ramp up to boss, as trash with a Rift noticed me. But they dropped aggro as soon as I was "down". Pet was not with me at this time.
I did
not
use a tanking pet (as he had Thunderstomp...which could hit the Rift). Summoned my wolf just before engaging boss. Burned down boss as quickly as I could, kept misdirecting onto pet. When he retreated and became invulnerable, popped a heal pet and Feigned Death. Still got hit by chain lightning, but damage was minor. This also kept the wraiths boss spawned on my pet. Just as he became vulnerable again got up, popped another heal pet, and began burning boss down again. As soon as boss died, achievement earned! ^_^
After that, I patted my wolf ("who's a good boy!" lol), dismissed him, brought back my bear to clear out he trash and Rifts I bypassed the first time.

I ran into quite a few realizations as a 390 unholy dk.
First - NO PETS! They will attack the rift and kill it in seconds.
Second - NO DnD! He popped the rift right on mine, and again, dead in seconds.
Lastly - NO GURTHALAK! My tentacles of the old one killed it in seconds, AGAIN.
Required much jumping off the edge to get this in one day. Maybe I can save someone the trouble.

Easy achievement. Just did it with a level 85 Enhancement Shaman. If you are one, make sure your lightning shield is down and you don't have your searing totem active so they don't accidentally attack the rift. GOOD LUCK

So if you are just getting around to this now at lv 90...
1. DPS til invulnerable stage.
2. Stretch, check your e-mail, etc...for 30 secs.
3. DPS til dead.

In 6.0.3, and I would assume later, all you need to do in order to solo this is ignore the chaos rifts, then down the boss. You can probably do enough damage at level 100 to basically one shot the boss and skip the second phase altogether.

I assume at level 100 most players would think to just one shot the boss. One shot-ting the boss at the start won't give you this achievement...

At level 100, this advice from alphabit (below) is the best, but it is buried and hard to find. I took off all equipment and just let the boss beat on me, I hit him a couple of times but was worried about accidentally targeting all the other things, so I just stood there for a while, 45 sec to a minute, then nuked him and got achievement.
alphabit 4 days ago (Patch 6.1.2)
It's even worse now to avoid one-shotting the boss like my first attempt. Just get naked and right click for one melee hit then quickly press escape. Get him under 50%, wait for 30-45 second void phase to finish and repeat the right click-escape slowly to make sure the game has time to register his actions.

Actually, you don't need to be naked to get this achievement. Simply move towards the boss making sure you're not auto-attacking it and stand still until he summons a rift. After that you simply 1-shoot the boss and voila!

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to achieve this achievement. The verbiage is to not destroy any
混乱裂隙
. It is absolutely possible to nuke this boss without him creating any
混乱裂隙
and still get the achievement. Just make sure not to take any down as you're traversing the area TO him.

Like others said there are chaotic rifts on platforms way before the boss. Just run past them on the way to the boss then kill boss.

Anyone having any issues with this recently? I've tried the following variations:
1. Ran straight to boss, made sure I didn't attack anyone (had several chaos rifts following me, among other adds), one-shotted boss -- no achieve.
2. Ran straight to boss, didn't attack anyone (had adds following), engaged Anomalus and let him summon a chaos rift during fight (which I didn't attack, of course), killed him -- no achieve.
3. Killed rifts and adds following me before engaging Anomalus, one-shotted him -- no achieve.
4. Killed rifts and adds following me before engaging, let him summon a chaos rift during right (kept that alive), killed him -- no achieve.
I'm giving up for now. If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

being bored I am doing the ach for the proto drake, I read you can one shot him and get the ach. I just did this and did not get the ach. I didn't kill anything else so maybe they have nerfed it. Going to try to do it on another alt just to make sure. Struggling to do some of these more subtle ones because of one shotting the boss.

I just did it on my hunter : No gear AT ALL just punch him to 45% (until indesctructable) wait 45secs and then kill him. Just be sure not to hit any chaotic rifts. :)

As of BfA I can confirm that the oneshot method still works. Just keep in mind that there are Chaotic Rifts littered between mobs on the way to the boss, and you must not kill any of those!
Just walk past the trash and oneshot the boss.

Also wanted to confirm that the oneshot method still works. As a rogue, I stealthed to him (and the first boss) without killing anything else, and got the achievement as soon as I hit him.
