The anti-player guys. They specialize in taking out players who happen to start fights in town. So if possible get within sight of one when attacked and the chances of your attacker dying along with you are high.

The health information on these are way off, I grind them for Bloodsail rep and as a Frostmage I can land several 2.3k Frostbolts before they die, so they don't have a sad 2.8. More like 10-20k.
And in reply to Ennis about the gun - They only use it when you are out of Melee range, instead of going evade-bug. Also, as I'm hated, if I land in the Flight-Path I get stunlocked since every single guard in the inn decides to shoot me (with knockback). Not recommended.

"What I don't get is that when you try to rez somebody in booty bay, all of these guys gang up on you."
Its because you are being entering the fight/combat, which propably means that the person you are resurrecting was in fight with other faction.

Lots of people have trouble with these bruisers, but if you are a resto pvp geared player you should be able to handle 3-4 of them at a time. As a resto shaman with 10k hp and 10k mana its very easy to just pull 3-4 of them, keep water shield up, and aoe them with magma with an occasional chain lightning to keep aggro off of the totem. Just make sure you heal yourself :)

I want to know if I should put off leveling and just grind out the last 3k or wait until 80 to do it.

These guys WILL overwhelm you if you enter too far into the city. As 67 unholy DK, i was forced to spam death strike. when i entered a building, a big one with about 7 merchants, i got attacked by 5 guards at once, i've seen them hit upto 150-200, with 300-350 crits on about 7.5k armor. But, if i take the flight path, only 1 guards attack, and i can sneak in the city by that route. my ghoul would be killed in a heartbeat without assistance. Jumping into the water with path of frost can save you if needed.

Big tip:
If you are too low to survive,
stand there as a ghost
while in a party or raid. You won't have to worry about getting rezzed, running from the graveyard to your body, or anything. You still get the 25 rep.
Edit: I just got my Bloodsail Hat, costume, and title today, with the help of people who were all level 80. Thanks to them, I'm Bloodsail Admiral Jombone.

On 4.0.6 PTR, even if you are "At War" with Booty Bay, no NPCs are valid targets for single target spells. AoE spells work, however. I was trying to see if they stealth added Bloodsail rep up to Exalted on Bruisers.
Edit: Managed to kill one using only AoE spells - no Bloodsail rep to Exalted :-(

As of today (2/08/11), the guards appear to be unattackable, even if you select "at war" with Booty Bay. I wonder why they decided to make such a change.
I should also note that I am exalted with the Bloodsail Buccaneers, and yesterday I went to Booty Bay to kill one, to see if they raise my Bloodsail reputation further, and (thankfully), I did not get any Bloodsail rep for killing the bruiser. So, despite the patch notes of 4.0.3, the guards DO NOT give rep past honored.
Still, nothing was mentioned in the newest patch notes about the bruisers being turned into pacifists..

Not sure how you're supposed to kill these guys.
I'm a BM hunter, and they kill my pet (with CDs up) in roughly 3-4 hits. I die soon after.
Due to the insane amount of health and damage they deal, I'm going to have to guess that they're bugged (Or Blizzard wants you to get a full raid group to kill them).

The combination of changes in Booty Bay are making these impossible to farm on my rogue right now - even at level 85 and item level 355. The Bruisers can 3-shot me, have half a million health, and would be challenging even if I could ambush them, but instead I am supposed to open with FoK and then go toe-to-toe with them in open combat? My understanding is that Blizz intends for the Insane cheevo to still be viable; has anyone seen blue notes or somesuch indicating that the situation in Booty Bay will change?

As of 4/26/11 (First day of patch 4.1) these bruisers are now properly awarding rep even in revered (Currently ~1k/21k revered).
Additionally, +rep gains (Banners, guild perk, etc) increase rep gained from a kill, but does NOT increase how much rep you lose. Win-win.

So killing these guys if you aren't a Paladin or DK is pretty much impossible. They hit a lvl 85 warlock for around 30k per hit. Thank you Blizzard for making something totally impossible. I guess I will grind the high admiral for the next year or so.

So, just to clearify this.
*Booty Bay Bruiers do give rep after 11999/12000.
*A group of 1-5 Players will get 27-28 rep with the guildperk.
*A group of 6 players will get ~22 rep.
*A group of 7 will get ~16 rep.
*A group of 10 wont be given any rep.
I havn't tried with 8 and 9 but they will probably get between 0 and 16.
The most efficient way of doing this is by going with 5 people. Set a rotation to use guild banners for more rep. Also, get a proper Tank / Healer and it wont take too long. Done it with 2 Healers, Me tanking in PvP Gear (Warrior) and 2 Rogues as DPS. Trying out with a proper geared tank now and I'm going Fury which is my MS so it will probably go faster now, exalted inc.

Yeah, one hit me for over 90k too. So the only option, is to slowly grind rep at Faldir's Cove. Whoever whined about Insane being a cakewalk and everyone including their grandmother can get the title easily now, needs to take their heads out of their arses for once.
It's a time consuming job to grind rep like this, even with the cloth turn-ins for the Cartel (thereby trashing your Bloodsail rep) And that's not counting the junkboxes you need for Ravenholdt or the Cards for the Darkmoon Faire.

With a Level 85 Combat Rogue with 356 iLevel, I can barely solo these guys and win approximately 1 out of 20 fights. The amount of elixirs, food buffs, deaths, and repairs just makes this unacceptable for soloing. I have never been one to demand nerfs, but this is the first time I have ever seen getting reputation with a faction demand teamwork. For two weeks now, day in and day out, I have been hollering in trade and in southern Stranglethorn trying to find anyone else who needs to grind these for rep. I have found no one. I would say that this is a good candidate for a nerf. At least lowering the damage these Mack trucks hit you with.

After my epic failure attempt (they ate me within seconds) to kill those nasty Booty Bay Bruisers with my retribution specced Paladin i thought about something different.
There had to be any way to deal with those guys. My first idea: maybe a Protection build would do the trick. Reducing those 50k and 20k hits seemed to be a good idea. Unfortunately I had only 3 or 4 parts of protection gear to use.
So i took my awfully low, itemlevel 308 healing equipement, bought anything useful sold by the cataclysm factions, spent the remaining
Justice Points
to complete the healing set.
OK I'm not quite sure if this could be some kind of exploit. However, this is working like a charm with my default healing talent build.
I tested the following with those two
Booty Bay Bruisers
guarding
High Admiral "Shelly" Jorrik
who is located at Newmans Landing, just a bit north of Stormwind.
At the beginning I'm standing on top of the house and start attacking them from range.
Make sure to stand in front of this dormer-thing as seen in this
screenshot
or prepare to be knocked back out of your attacking range. Important would be to stay out of their
Net
range. Getting caught in the net would pretty much result in certain death.
The Booty Bay Bruisers will start - and never stop -
shooting
at me doing some 4k damage.
Killing them with
Judgement
,
Seal of Truth
,
Holy Shock
and
Exorcism
and, of course, below 20% health
Hammer of Wrath
takes several minutes (i think it took about 5-7 minutes for each bruiser...) but this is totally safe. Self healing with
Word of Glory
, Judgement and Holy Shock is just fine.
Really nasty is their shots interrupt effect. And if they do not fire their shots almost simultaneously it is impossible to cast any exorcism or other spell.
An now the fun part:
Damage could be optimized by
Glyph of Exorcism
,
Glyph of Judgement
and talents like
Denounce
,
Arbiter of the Light
,
Blazing Light
.
Maybe there is something missing...
Is it worth this hard work? Well, this is just one way to solo kill them. It would take ages to reach 20999/21000 but to find a group to rock booty bay seems to be no easy task as well.
Possibly priests or druids would do the job with ease. Shadow Priests with powerful instant spells, PW:S, VE...

Just a few tips I have from soloing rep with the Bloodsail Buccaneers:
Bruisers' Damage
Bruisers dual wield. They use their mace in the main hand and their fist in the offhand.
Because they dual wield, they seem to have a lower chance to hit. You might find yourself dodging/parrying a lot more often. I personally find myself dodging/parrying well over half the hits I take.
They hit with each weapon once or so every second.
Damage seems to scale with the amount of health the bruiser has .
> 50% hp: 12k mh hits, 6k oh hits.
35-50% hp: 15k mh hits, 8k oh hits.
20-34% hp: 22k mh hits, 10k oh hits.
< 20% hp: 28k mh hits, 14k oh hits.
Save your largest cooldowns for the
last
half or so of the bruiser's health.
Farming Spot
I find a great place for farming Bruisers is at
43.8, 69.8
. When you walk into Booty Bay from the north cave entrance, take a left and it is a bruiser next to the first building you come across (Plate-n-Chain).
To use this, clear all bruisers in the area one at a time in the open area near the bridge. There are two pats that walk back and forth across this area, as well as the two stationary bruisers.
Once they are dead, walk in front of the building Plate-n-Chain and a bruiser should spawn where the old one was and start attacking you. Pull him away from his spawning point and kill him. Once he's dead just run back and pick up another! You can continue doing this until the bruisers start respawning, in which point I highly suggest rekilling them.
Just as a note to others, this is a very long farm now that players cant pull 10-20+ at a time like we could back in WotLK. It took a few hours to make 2k rep, as bruisers only give about 25 rep per kill. Yes, grouping up really helps here =).

As mentioned on the
血帆海盗
comments, I tried the phased Booty Bay method to farm my rep up to Honored. This resulted in some problems, since I have a much lower number of Bruisers available to me. The only bruisers I can see, aside from those who spawn randomly in Booty Bay now, are the two outside the entrance, the two that patrol the tunnel entrance, and those that guard Jorrik.
The four total in front of Booty Bay have proven to be relatively useful for my hunter - I've been kiting them along the main road in Stranglethorn, usually downing them right in front of the Bloodsail Recruiter. A "round" of prep, kiting, and running back down takes under two minutes, and the mobs seem to respawn after a bit over two minutes, so if you're lucky with the patrolling Bruisers' paths, you'll manage to keep busy.
Kiting
Pets are enormously helpful in the process for various skills they have, but make sure you turn growl off - If they take aggro off you, they'll be downed almost instantly, and Heart of the Phoenix will just result in them getting killed again in most cases. Spiders are helpful for the web, but I've been using my ferocity pet's charge, which similarly immobilizes the Bruiser. Pets are also extremely useful in that they're up close, and the Bruiser will often use their net attack on the pet. While there doesn't seem to be a cooldown on the net, there does seem to be a delay between uses, so this can reduce the chance of getting netted if he gets too close. Since my pet is ferocity, getting netted only results in him repeatedly being put in range for
冲锋
.
You'll want to lead with Concussive shot, then follow it up with a heavy-hitting attack (As a MM hunter, I use
奇美拉射击
) before going into normal rotation, or you risk your pet hitting first and pulling aggro.
If you want to avoid the road and are already friendly with the Bloodsail, then the path to the west is also nice, though it's far harder to actually manage most of the pulls from there due to line of sight.
One thing I noticed is that while I can down two guards in under a minute, if I drop my
协和战旗
right before I kill one, fly back, pull and kite back, the banner is usually gone when I get back. As far as I can tell, the banners have a maximum range before they'll automatically despawn, regardless of how much time they have left. You may want to look into a spider pet to reduce the total distance kited away from the entrance so you stay in range of your banner when pulling the next Bruiser.
Post-Exalted update
These days (4.3+), timing with the rep banner isn't as big of an issue, since the banners now last longer than the cooldown on them. However, if they still behave the way they did when I was farming this, I did notice that they tend to despawn if you get too far away from them. To combat this, I changed my kiting path.
There is a large tree just northeast of the entrance to Booty Bay that bisects the valley where the Bloodsail Buccaneers reside. By running around the north side of this tree, waiting until the Bruiser followed to a reasonable distance, then running
back
toward the Booty Bay entrance, I stayed in a small enough area that I could chain pull the two Bruisers guarding the entrance. If I was very lucky, one of the two patrolling Bruisers would happen to wander out just as the second guard was downed, letting me get three kills per banner.
Since timing is no longer an issue with the 15 minute duration, simply deal with the four at whatever pace you're comfortable with - I found that trying to pull one after another mostly just increased my chances of missing a step and getting myself killed. Graveyard was nice and close, but the repair bills were a pain.

Be extremely careful when fighting those !
Some of these hit you twice on
each hit
. Also their attack damage has a huge min-max difference. Expect burst hits.
To be honest: I think the double hitting guards are bugged. They are a minority among the guards and the 2nd hit lands at the exact same time as the 1st. Also other 'normal' attacking guards
never
do double hits.
Also things like Vanish, Feign Death etc. don't work. Just like city guards these also ignore those abilities.

Ok today I went to Booty Bay to grind rep. I was at Revered back pre-Cataclysm, but when I re-did all the quests in the game post-Cata I was down to about 6k Honored. So I advertised in trade, got together a group of about 5.
It was going pretty smoothly for an hour, they give 25 rep each plus the 10% guild bonus (27-28 rep) plus the Hallow's End holiday buff (from the Wickerman in Undercity/Stormwind... this buff is why I waited to do this grind) for the 2 hours it lasts (does not persist through death though) makes 30 rep. If I dropped my guild banner for 15% more again it was more like 35 rep. THIS CONTINUED ABOVE REVERED.
Now, I eventually needed to pug some replacements and that's when it got weird. I got about 11 people and at first I didn't notice anything, but after a while we realised we weren't getting any Bloodsail rep (but goblin rep was still going down). Weird.
So one person left and then we were getting rep again - 5 per kill though. A couple more left and it was 11 rep, then a few more and it was up to 16-18. I tried to reform the raid but by that time only me and one other person was still around, however the rep went back up to 26-28 (we'd died so we'd lost the holiday buff).
So... I'm not 100% sure about how this works but it SEEMS like the rep you get decays based on how many are in your party. I think that it's every player above 5 (though I wasn't playing close enough attention to make sure of that). Very depressing since the kills were racking up beautifully with 11 people :(
*P.S.*
Yeah they ignore Vanish, Tricks of the Trade - taunts work though. I think that's part of the "city guard" AI like the above poster mentioned. I also recommend you take a tank and a healer, we rolled with 1 healer and no tank, 1 tank and no healer... both worked but it was annoying. Beware of certain "spawn points" where characters Hostile or below will cause the guards to spawn in quick succession. Also, we grouped up on the hillside between the entrance tunnel and the houses on the left with blacksmiths in them, that area is mostly clear. We would go to the ramp and stand near the edge to chain-pull until they stopped spawning (they do eventually) then go to the blacksmith houses and kill NPCs one at a time to make guards spawn (1-2 for each NPC kill) then repeat. Could chain kill fairly effectively without risking a mass pull (unless you go too far down the ramp).

Got together a 5man team and ground the hell out of these guys again today. Rep was coming in at the full rate (25 plus bonuses - 27.5/30/34.5 or so for guild/holiday/banner). The holiday buff lasts 2 hours but random aggro slippage means I lost it a lot. Similarly I often died or went out of range just after dropping my banner oh well :P
If you're using the entrance ramp/blacksmith shop strat like we were, the ramp is more risky so don't go further down than about half-way. Ranged be careful of aggroing mobs at the bottom of the ramp from the top - this often causes them to do the can't pathing mechanic and start knocking you back like crazy (pro tip: getting someone to run in and disarm them stops them firing this knockback).
Stuns are invaluable, if you're doing this you're probably pugging so you don't get much choice in your partners but prot warriors are awesome tanks with shockwave, disarm and concussion blow (you may need to remind them that the latter two exist tho :P). Disc priests heal this very well (or maybe we just got a really geared one, not sure) but holy pallies have hoj and divine shield (which is awesome if aggro slips which it tends to). Rogues can open with cheap shot into a full kidney (combat gets an extra long one) and disarms and blinds are very useful. Ret CC, glyphed fears... if you have it throw it at them. Maintain good awareness they spawn like crazy sometimes and tanks have trouble getting aggro fast enough.
P.S. In the last 2 days I've spent about 4 hours per day on it and I've gone from something like 6k/12k to 13k/21k, and that's with semi-frequent re-pugging so it really isn't that bad. Several people who were with me hit honored. Also, get a group of people who are good to play with and it's actually kinda fun :)

Ok. ilvl 378 arcane mage and this is what worked for me. Like some others said you can stand on the port authority building but I stood at 43,70 or if you don't have cords I stood where I could see McGaven. I stood above the arch but below the top scaffelding was. You can stand where it looks like you are in a sqaure. It doesn't look like there is a lot of room but you don't get knocked back at all because of the building being directly behind you and if you get knocked side to side the things on each side of the square stop you from moving to far. I hit them for about 30k each and their shots hit me for about 3 to 4k each and interupted me but nothing horrible. I just picked them off one by one. Was pretty cool, I will submit a screen shot I hope this helped.
One word of caution don't kill McGaven or Dizzy Dean if you do you get a whole bunch of bruisers killing you and it makes it no fun so it's best to just leave them alone.

For a while I have been working on trying to get the Bloodsail Buccaneers to Exalted after having them grinded to Honored phased (see my guide and posts on Buccaneer page etc). I got myself a group of four to five randomly for some time, though not extremely long as neither of these players really wanted to up their rep so were just there to help me. In times I'm really bored I try to solo these, and I find this to be able to as Sub and Combat rogue in ilvl395-ish. Most LFR geared rogues should get quite far; as a note, Wound Poison is always recommended as your target uptime is way less than 30 seconds.
Combat is fairly straightforward to do, and is preferred for two Bruisers at a time: front of the tunnel, at the end of it and Jozzik's guardians. All the others are irratic and not recommended. Requirements are the regular Combat build, Evasion off cooldown and
闪避雕文
. Tier 13p4 is very useful. To pull, simply active Adrenaline Rush from stealth, and as they approach you activate Evasion then Blade Flurry. Use some Sinister Strikes, when low on energy use Killing Spree and now finish them with Strikes and Eviscerates, obviously before Evasion runs out. If you can't make that, Combat is not recommended.
Subtlety is more interesting, and if obviously preferred for single Bruisers. I can recommended you to spec into at least
铁棍
, you would want
打劫
. Cheat Death is possible too as you don't need any Recuperate or Rupture boosting talents as you won't be using them. The pull is systematic, sap, proc Premed for 2cp, sap again for Groggy, when high on Energy proc SnD, when Energy full use Ambush. Groggy reapplies, meaning you have 8sec Groggy/Waylay. Use Hemo for Evis, then stack Hemo to 5cp; as Groggy wears off, use Kidney Shot. Now use Dance/Vanish/Prepvanish with Step for powerful Ambushes, followed by Evis and Backstabs as required. It is likely the Bruiser will unstun, but be dead soon thereafter. IF not, you are at least safe from one death by Cheat Death. If you really don't want to die and Evasion is off cooldown, use it, though rendering a Combat kill not possible for 3min.
Good luck, and if you have suggestions or ideas please post.

Stand at the graveyard just outside the tunnel to booty bay and pull the closest guard with Faerie Fire. When he gets close enough to avoid the pat in the tunnel, use barkskin and survival instincts and put a 5 combo point rip on him, then go bear, pop frenzied regen and finish him off.
Wait for cooldowns and repeat with the guard to the right of the tunnel by standing on the hill across the path.
Can't be as fast as Faldir's cove, but it's slightly less boring..

I solo the 2 outside the tunnel, 1 at a time on my ilvl 395 lock. After killing the first 2, the respawn rate is about every 3 minutes 8 seconds. Depending on your cooldowns, that's about 18 an hour.
For a human in a lvl 25 guild, at revered, that's about 1 bubble every 2 hours.
Edit: The respawn rate is approximate and variable.

Well, it depends whether your Horde or Ally. If youre Horde, its easy, just take a Zep, die in Stranglethorn, walk to Booty Bay (as a ghost) and rez at Booty Bay spirit healer. Easy. If youre Ally, it's a lot harder and you have to go on foot. :P

The only way to fight them is to have a group, 2-3 players and one of them is healer, then it's very easy. If healer is shammy, it's like a cruise. But it takes ages to solo them, they're hard to fight as if they were lvl 70, and some are equipped with guns - those are a suicide, for a warrior at least - they send you flying a few feet.

Sorry to say but a patch changed the Booty Bay Bruisers to drop nothing. So if your looking to improve your Bloodsail rep. you will be making zero gold and instead lose cash to armor fixing.
Have fun LOL
