An ancient Legion axe forged from a metal that drains its victims' vital energies. The soul of its original creator is trapped within and cursed with unending hunger. For more than a thousand years, an old and cunning mo'arg has used the axe to butcher uprisings and consume the life force of the Legion's foes. Over its long and infamous history, the weapon has made its demonic bearer extraordinarily powerful.

After the Legion's leader, Kil'jaeden, revived him in the Twisting Nether, Varedis surrendered to the demon within him, forsaking his mortality. In ages past, the dark titan, Sargeras, offered the mighty aldrachi people a place in his Burning Legion. Much later, a demon hunter willingly became the servant of Sargeras' lieutenant Kil'jaeden. Pleased, Kil'jaeden bestowed the warblades on her, that she might wield a portion of the aldrachi's bygone might, and devastate the mortals of Azeroth with it.

This mystical artifact was created millennia ago from the Staff of Elune and a fang from the wolf demigod Goldrinn. The Scythe of Elune carries a long and unsettling history for druids: those who are not careful enough can easily be overwhelmed by Goldrinn's spirit, which infuses the scythe. Tied to the origin of the worgen on Azeroth, the scythe is said to possess untold lunar power for the druid with balance enough to keep control.

Long ago, as the titanic watcher Keeper Freya set out to populate the world with life, she placed one of the first seeds in Pandaria. From it grew Fu Zan, the first, and all of Pandaria's forests descended from it. Before populating the rest of Azeroth, Freya fashioned a walking stick for her travels from one of Fu Zan’s branches. Eventually Freya passed her staff to the Jade Serpent, Yu’lon, who later gave it to a uniquely clever hozen. The orc warlock Gul'dan had these daggers made for his personal assassin, Garona. The blades are said to drink blood and inflict traceless poison, leaving little sign of their grim work: the perfect tools for an assassin. She used them to carry out countless atrocities while under Gul'dan's control, including the murder of Stormwind's King Llane, whom she had befriended. Afterwards, in anguish, she asked a trusted ally, Meryl Winterstorm, to help her hide the blades away in the hope that they'd never have to be used again.

Your first Artifact Weapon can be acquired at level 98+.
Each class acquires their artifact through an introductory questline. This questline sends you to interact with major lore figures and requires you to use your offensive and utility abilities to get through the encounter. For example, traps are a big part of the Survival Hunter questline while Assassination Rogues have to navigate Stormwind City while stealthed.
At the end of each quest, you access your Class Order Hall and learn how to interact with your Artifact Forge and Order Hall Mission table. You can progress further on your class-specific Order Hall quests and missions, which is the subject of
another guide
!
Wowhead has videos of
many of the weapon questlines
on its YouTube channel.
Note that to access your Artifact Trait tree for the first time, you must interact with your Artifact Forge, and select your first (free) trait. As soon as you do this, the remainder of the tree will appear for you to select traits on.
Obtaining your Second, Third and Fourth Artifacts
Once you reach level 102, you can obtain Artifacts for all specs in your class (All 3 in most cases, 2 for
s, 4 in the case of
s) if you so choose.
To do so, you return to your Order Hall and pick up the quest for selecting a second artifact. At this point, you are sent on the questline to obtain your second Artifact.
After getting your second Artifact Weapon, you are then offered the quest to get your third (and for
, a fourth after that).
Notes
Each Artifact questline is tailored to your spec.
Healer questlines have you heal a party while being attacked.
Tank questlines have you tank enemies.
DPS questlines are fairly standard collect/rescue/kill quests.
You can switch specs during your Artifact questline - e.g. you can complete any DPS questline with your primary DPS spec, or you can complete a healer questline in DPS spec by killing everything before your party dies (although doing these in a different spec may prove harder rather than easier!).
When you have more than one Artifact Weapon, they are automatically equipped when you switch to the appropriate spec (you cannot equip an Artifact Weapon that is not for your spec).
If you need a temporary weapon while you are completing your Artifact Questline, your Order Hall Quartermaster sells some that you can use.
There is no way to destroy an Artifact Weapon - keep in mind that each Artifact you unlock will take a permanent bag slot.
Obtaining all Artifacts available to your class grants the achievement
.

Traits are unlocked through Artifact Power. It is not a currency that you collect and spend, but is a resource like experience - as you obtain it you can unlock new Artifact Trait points to put into your Artifact Trait tree. Artifact Power is obtained from various consumable items (e.g.
,
,
).
There is an Artifact Power progress bar that shows up above your experience bar. It indicates how close you are to your next Artifact Trait point.
Mouse over this progress bar to see if you have any unspent Artifact Traits that you may have forgetten to select (i.e. if you have enough Artifact Power to unlock another trait or traits on your weapon)
Artifact Power items are acquired through many activities in Legion, including:
Major plot quests/World quests
Emissary caches (after completing 4 World quests)
Treasure chests
Queuing for random Normal or Heroic dungeons
Drops from Dungeon Bosses, Raid Bosses and Rare spawns
Order Hall missions
Outdoor objectives
Participating in Battlegrounds
Arena matches
Here is a list of items that grant Artifact Power
.
Once you acquire an item that grants Artifact Power, click on it to add Artifact Power to your
CURRENTLY EQUIPPED
Artifact Weapon.
If you want to apply it to a weapon you have in your bag (for a different spec), you must equip that weapon
FIRST
, then use the Artifact Power item!
Artifact Power is tied to each weapon you have
separately
. Therefore, if you have managed to acquire X amount of Artifact Power on one weapon, if you switch to your offspec weapon, this Artifact Power will not carry over (it will have a separate pool of Artifact Power).
For the purposes of Artifact Power, two-part Artifact Weapons (e.g. 2 Swords –
+
, a Shield/Sword –
+
, an Off-hand/Dagger –
+
) count as a single Artifact.
Essentially, you
do not
have to invest double the Artifact Power as a Two-handed weapon class, and you don’t have to unlock each part separately.
Artifact Knowledge is an attribute that you can level up, which will increase your rate of Artifact Power acquisition of most sources (See the "
Artifact Knowledge
" section below.
The costs for each point you put into your Artifact Trait tree increase as you progress further along on your Artifact.

Artifact traits are special abilities that are unlocked over time via your Artifact weapon. Each trait requires a certain amount of Artifact Power to unlock, and as you unlock traits on the same weapon, subsequent traits require progressively more and more Artifact Power to unlock.
Each weapon has an Artifact Ability which free to unlock, and grants an
extra spell
for each spec - usually a powerful effect. Some of these are passive abilities, but for most specs they will be active abilities that go on your action bar. These spells are indicated in the summary of each Artifact Weapon above.
Browse Wowhead's
Artifact Trait Database
for a full list of traits. As well, the
Legion Artifact Weapon Calculator
will allow you to see what traits are available through your weapon, and the route to unlocking them.
Unlocking Traits
Traits are, for the most part, passive abilities which enhance your spec's abilities (for example increase the damage of Ability X by a certain amount, or increase the proc chance of Abilty Y by a certain amount).
To see your Artifact Trait tree, simply Shift-Right Click on your artifact weapon.
Note that selecting new traits can ONLY be done at your Artifact Forge in your Order Hall.
Traits have 1-4 ranks. Spending more Artifact Power to unlock a new rank for a trait increases the strength of that trait.
Relics will add "bonus" ranks to certain Artifact Traits; thus a trait can be boosted to a maximum of 7 ranks on an empowered weapon (if all 3 relics are tailored to a single Trait - see "Artifact Relics" below). The
extra ranks
granted by a relic do not require Artifact Power to unlock.
You have to max out a trait (all 1-3 ranks) before you can progress further down the tree.
There are a total of 51 points to spend on basic traits in your Artifact Trait tree, and the order in which you unlock traits is up to you. Eventually (once you have unlocked all 51 points) you will have all of the basic Traits on your weapon maxed out, and will unlock the Concordance of Legionfall 50-rank trait.
Note that your free "Artifact Ability" (as described above) is not counted amongst the 34 points that you get to spend.
Four traits on each weapon (3 basic traits, 1 empowered trait) have a Golden dragon border on the calculator UI. These traits boost your class abilities in powerful ways, (more so than a standard trait) and require some point investment along the tree to unlock.
See below for an example of an Artifact Trait tree.
Resetting Traits
You can respec/refund your traits (wipe them and reassign them from scratch) at a cost.
Respeccing costs the same amount of Artifact Power as the next point in your Artifact Trait tree would cost.
For example, if you had spent 18 points into your Artifact Traits and wanted to reset them and reassign them, you would have to invest the Artifact Power that would have been required for the 19th Artifact Trait point (based on the chart below, 24000 Artifact Power).
Doing this would "refund" 18 points worth of Artifact Power and allow you to spend all of it on 18 Traits of your choosing.
Because the cost of "respeccing" your Artifact Weapon is so high, it is not typically worthwhile to do so - the benefit is likely to be marginal. Additionally, you will eventually unlock every Artifact Trait on your weapon - the path you take to do so will not make a significant difference in your performance.
To refund your traits, speak to the NPC in your Order Hall that is standing near your Artifact Forge.
Trait Perks
Each trait you have purchased increases your Stamina +/- Damage Dealt.
Healer and Tank Specs gain Stamina and Damage Dealt for every trait unlocked.
DPS Specs gain only Stamina for every trait unlocked.
Trait Costs
Below is a chart outlining the Artifact Power (AP) cost for each point that you unlock in your Artifact Trait tree. Note that the cost for each point rises exponentially (particularly after the 13th trait) as you unlock more.

Empowered Artifact Traits
As of Patch 7.2, you can empower your Artifact weapon upon reaching 35 traits or more. This will unlock new traits – a total of 17 empowered trait points, and a 50-point “infinite trait” (a grand total of 101 traits)!
The new traits are broken down into the following:
The 35th trait, which is a straight 5% Damage, 5% Healing or 6-17% Armor boost (Exception: Discipline
, which grants 5% Damage AND Healing AND Absorbs) (1 trait point).
The 36th trait (first of the new traits), which grants a Damage and Stamina boost, as well as a Healing or Armor boost, based on spec (1 trait point).

Notes:
Artifact Knowledge is going to increase the amount of Artifact Power you earn on a daily basis, which will make some of the large Artifact Power requirements later in the tree less daunting (At a maximum rank of 55 for Artifact Knowledge, Artifact Power acquisition will be increased by over 630,000,000%! See the "Artifact Knowledge" section below).
Concordance of Legionfall
is a so-called “infinite” trait that unlocks a primary stat proc on your weapon. Unlocking this trait requires first obtaining all 34 basic traits and all 17 empowered traits.
Each rank will increase the strength of the primary stat proc; the costs of these ranks are deliberately quite high, and as such it will take a long time to unlock extra points in this trait.
The large Artifact Power requirements mean that someone that invests twice as much time as another player will only have a marginally better proc on their weapon.
It takes 2,228,766,330 (2.2 billion) Artifact Power to reach Concordance Rank 1.
Unlocking all 101 weapon traits (including the 50
traits) requires a total of 865,842,644,766,330 (865 trillion) Artifact Power.

*NOTE
: In any instanced or non-instanced PvP combat (i.e. any situation where Honor Talents would be active,
including
World PvP and duels
) The
proc grants 2000 Intellect/Strength/Agility/Versatility + 150 per rank, exactly half of the normal 4000 Intellect/Strength/Agility/Versatility + 300 per rank in non-PvP situations.
Notes:
At baseline,
grants 4000 Intellect, Strength or Agility (based on spec) to DPS and Healer specs, and 4000 Versatility to Tank specs.
In PvP situations, the baseline proc is 2000 Intellect/Strength/Agility/Versatility
PvP situations that result in the lower proc strength include any activity that enables Honor Talents (Battlegrounds, Duels, World PvP, Arenas, etc.)
Each successive rank of
grants an extra 300 Intellect, Strength or Agility (based on spec) to DPS and Healer specs, and 300 Versatility to Tank specs.
In PvP situations, each successive rank grants an additional 150 Intellect/Strength/Agility/Versatility
The proc lasts 10 seconds, and has a has a proc rate of approximately 1.37 procs per minute.
Once fully maxed, the proc would grant 18,700 Intellect/Strength/Agility/Versatility (non-PvP) or 9350 Intellect/Strength/Agility/Versatility (PvP)
Obtaining the first point of
(total 52 points in your Artifact Weapon) grants the achievement
. Depending on your class and spec, this achievement can unlock specific Toys, Pets or Class Mount tints (see here for details).
Blizzard explains the rationale behind creating this “infinite” trait below:
Blue Post
Blizzard
Ion alluded to some of this in his post last week, but essentially the goal here is to address what we believe to be the core of the issue with the 7.0 final traits: the large gap in player power it created between players who spent a lot of time farming AP and those who spent their time on other endeavors. To that end, there's four key changes:
#1: The individual ranks are less impactful. This was honestly one of the biggest issues with the 7.0 design. Grinding out a couple million Artifact Power for a 0.5% raw damage increase was just too lucrative compared to other methods of endgame progression - even eclipsing gear for some players. The goal for the new 7.2 design is that the next rank is still an increase, and you won't turn it down, but it's not your primary focus.
#2: The rate at which the cost for the next rank increases is higher. In the 7.0 design, someone who farmed twice as much AP as you had roughly twice as many ranks as you. While rewarding the extra effort isn't a bad thing, it doesn't need to be nearly that rewarding. By making each rank's cost increase exponentially, we can help ensure that you're never too far behind even if you aren't spending as much time farming AP. It also means that, as Artifact Knowledge increases, it'll be easier for alts or newer players to catch up.
As a quick aside, to put some extra context on both of those changes: we always want Artifact Power to be of at least some value to you. It's fine to reach a point where you're not going out of your way to earn it, but it's purpose is to be a fairly reliable form of progression. If you spend an evening raiding, or run a few dungeons, or do some PvP, but don't get any gear upgrades, you should still be able to say "at least I earned some Artifact Power" with some level of satisfaction.
Anyway, key change #3: The new trait gives a primary stat bonus instead of a percentage-based increase. With the 7.0 design, as your gear improved, so did the total benefit you were getting from your final trait. Changing to a primary stat bonus means it's giving roughly the same benefit to someone at ilevel 900 as it does to someone at 850. Again, the goal here is to reduce the overall power gap.
And finally, #4: It's a proc. I know anything that involves RNG is often controversial, but this is, in my opinion, a great example of where it's extremely useful. This is for two reasons.
First, it kind of muddies the waters a bit. When you wipe on a boss at 1%, or just barely miss a kill window, it can be easy to say "if Todd was doing 2% more damage we'd have won." But when it's a proc, you can't actually be that sure. Maybe Todd needs more AP, or maybe he just got unlucky with procs. Maybe the wipe wasn't Todd's fault at all. Maybe you should be a little nicer to Todd.
Second (and more importantly), it allows for player skill to play more of a factor. If you're the sort of player who can pay attention to procs and adjust your rotation on the fly (say, a healer who chooses to use cheaper spells while it's active, or a damage-dealer who saves a charge of their hardest-hitting ability), you're going to get more value out of the new trait than someone who ignores it.
I've seen some initial feedback that indicates some specs are likely to benefit from these more than others - to some degree that's expected, but specific feedback on which specs those are and why is very helpful. We're still actively tuning and tweaking things, so please keep that feedback coming.
Below is an example of an Artifact Trait tree. Each spec has a similar tree modeled on their Artifact Weapon; you can both see and simulate unlocking traits on

What is a Relic?
A Relic is an item in Legion that has similarities to the old meta gems (e.g.
). It is socketed into your weapon and grants various bonuses.
Baseline Bonuses
Increases the item level of your Artifact Weapon (increasing the primary and secondary stats of the weapon) based on the item level of the relic in question
Grants a bonus rank to a specific Artifact Trait on your weapon
Netherlight Crucible Bonuses
(See

for further details)
The Netherlight Crucible, new to Patch 7.3 adds 3 new perks to each relic:
Grants an additional +5 item levels per relic through the Tier 1 bonus from the Netherlight Crucible.
Grants a random Light or Shadow ability via the Tier 2 bonus.
Grants one ADDITIONAL "bonus" rank of a
different
Artifact Trait on your weapon via the Tier 3 bonus.

More information on Relics
Your Artifact Weapon has a total of 3 Relic slots on it.
2 slots are available immediately upon getting your Artifact Weapon.
1 slot is locked initially, and unlocks when your character reaches level 110.
There are different types of relics and each artifact has a unique combination of relic slots that is thematic. For example, the Shadow Priest Artifact has two Shadow Relic slots and one Blood Relic slot, while the Frost Mage Artifact has two Frost Relic slots and one Arcane Relic slot.
The 10 different types of relics are Arcane, Blood, Fel, Fire, Frost, Holy, Iron, Life, Shadow and Storm.
Not all specs can benefit from a particular relic - it will depend on what relic slots your Artifact Weapon has.
There are uncommon, rare, and epic quality relics. So far these are found from
quest rewards
,
crafted recipes
, world drops, dungeon bosses, world bosses and raid bosses.
If a quest offers an uncommon or rare relic, it has the chance of being randomly upgraded to a higher quality such as uncommon upgrading to rare.
Some
world drop and crafted relics
will be
Bind on Equip
and can be bought/sold on the Auction House or traded.
Some of these BoE relics will vary in item level (based on the level of the character that they drop for)
For example
can be found on the Auction House with item levels that vary between 670 and 780.
The level requirement will vary as well - an item level 670
that dropped for a level 100 character will have a level 100+ requirement, while an item level 731
that drops for a level 105 character can only be used by level 105+ characters.
Relics can be found on the Auction House under
Gems: Artifact Relic
Relics acquired via Personal Loot or non-repeatable Quest Rewards are granted based on loot specialization - they will only be those that you can use on your current Artifact Weapon (i.e. your weapon has slots of that type).
That being said, many World Quests will reward relics that are attuned to weapons for other specs on your character (whether or not you play those specs!).
You cannot swap relics in and out. Like gems, they are destroyed when they are replaced (or "overwritten" by a new relic). You will be able to vendor or disenchant unused soulbound relics that are still in your inventory.
Relic Effect #1 - Item Level Boosts
Every relic has an item level. These currently will range from 670 to 955.
The higher the item level of the relic, the more it boosts the item level of your Artifact Weapon.
Increasing the item level of your Artifact Weapon will increased the primary and secondary stats it grants.
For example an item level 850
(Raid Drop) will boost your Artifact Weapon by +43 item levels, while an item level 805 Crafted
will boost your Artifact Weapon by +31 item levels.
Relics that drop from bosses (raid, dungeon, world) can be randomly upgraded in +5 item level increments when they drop. As of Patch 7.3, the current maximum item level that these Relics can be upgraded to is 955.
Any item upgraded this way by 5-10 item levels will be designated "Warforged".
Any item upgraded by 15 or more item levels will be designated "Titanforged".
Your Artifact Weapon starts at item level 750, and it's item level is increased by the Relics that are socketed into it. At the absolute highest end of the scale (for Tier 20), with 3 item level 955 Titanforged Relics socketed, your Artifact weapon can reach item level 972.

Each relic boosts a specific trait. You can see this on Wowhead by going to the "Improves" tab on Relic pages or selecting "Choose a Spec."
If you want to target a specific Trait to boost, you will need to target specific relics.
For example, a Windwalker
wanting to boost the Artifact Trait
could use the Storm relics
(Quest Reward),
(Dungeon Boss Drop), or
(Raid Boss Drop). On the other hand,
, while also being a Storm relic, boosts
- a completely different Trait.
A relic will both add an extra rank of a trait, and give you a point in that trait (e.g. it will change a Rank 0/3 Trait to Rank 1/4).
Relics will not bypass the Artifact Power requirements for advancing in your Artifact Trait tree (e.g. if you use a relic that increases a Trait from Rank 0/1 to Rank 1/2, you still need to unlock the single remaining Rank in this trait with Artifact Power to go further into your Artifact tree).
A single trait can be boosted to a maximum Rank of 7 with relics (in this case, all 3 socketed relics would be boosting the same trait).
NEW TO 7.3: With the unlocking of the Netherlight Crucible, each relic will grant a second Artifact Trait rank. See the following section for details.
The Netherlight Crucible is a feature that is new to Patch 7.3. It can be used to supercharge each of your 3 relic slots, unlocking new benefits for each. The Crucible can be found on the ground floor of the Vindacaar, and will be available on Week 3 of Patch 7.3.
The crucible allows you to add new levels of bonuses to each relic, in a tier-based system:
Tier 1
: Grants a +5 item level boost to your artifact weapon (per relic slot, for a total of +15 item levels)
Tier 2
: Grants you the choice between a randomly selected Light or Shadow ability
Tier 3
: Grants you choices for a second Artifact Trait to boost for the relic (thus the relic will boost a total of two
separate
Artifact Traits once this is unlocked)
As you level your Artifact Weapon, the three tiers of abilities will be unlocked for your 3 relic slots sequentially (see "Unlock Requirements" below for details).
Each relic you acquire, once
attuned to your weapon or socketed
, will generate a random Light and Shadow ability for Tier 2, and will additionally randomly generate 3 choices for a second Artifact Trait to boost for Tier 3.
Once these abilities have been generated, they are permanently "affixed" to that relic, and will not change.
Further details about this process:
Interacting with the Netherlight Crucible is the only way to see what Tier 2 and Tier 3 abilities will be rolled by a particular relic; therefore you cannot know ahead of time or in the middle of a dungeon, raid, etc.
A given relic will randomly roll a particular combination of abilities, and these are permanent for that relic. If you were to obtain the same relic of the same item level from a different source (e.g. get the same relic to drop from
two weeks in a row) that would generate a completely different random combination of Tier 2 and Tier 3 abilities when attuned/socketed.
Once you select an ability from Tier 2 and Tier 3 in the crucible, the decision is final - there is
no way
to reset your choices!
The path you take in your ability tree matters!
Once a Tier 2 trait is selected, it limits you to only two choices for the Tier 3 trait - i.e. if there is a particular trait you really want in Tier 3, that will dictate what you choose in Tier 2.
In the example listed below with the Elemental Shaman relic, selecting
would allow the choice of
or
in Tier 3, while selecting
would only open up
and
as options in Tier 3.
Selecting the same Tier 2 option for two different relics will simply increase the strength of the appropriate Trait/Proc.
For example:
Choosing
(Haste increased by 500. Movement speed increased by 500.) on
two
relics would double the effect to 1000 Haste and 1000 Speed.
Choosing
(Your spells and abilities have the chance to cause Refractive Shell, absorbing 300,000 damage. Lasts 10 sec.) on
all three
relics would triple the absorb to 900,000 damage for 10 seconds.
What is relic "attunement"?
The Netherlight Crucible has a 4th slot for attunement of relics. This slot is like a "preview" of sorts - placing a relic there will randomly generate Tier 2 and Tier 3 abilities for that relic.
Important: This process binds the relic to you!
Therefore you cannot check what abilities are generated and then decide to trade the relic to another person.
Attunement is a permanent process - the randomly generated traits WILL NOT change for that given relic, whether or not you socket it.
This option simply gives you the ability to see what traits are generated in Tier 2 and Tier 3, BEFORE you decide to replace a currently socketed relic.
Attuning a relic for one spec does not prevent you from using it on other specs. If you don't like the Tier 3 that were rolled on the Crucible and think it may be useful on an alternate spec, you can switch specs and attune the relic to that spec to see the options it provides (assuming that spec can use that type of relic, of course).
Attuning a relic to an alternate spec will re-roll completely new Tier 3 traits, but the Tier 2 options will remain
THE SAME
.
EACH relic slot will have a tree that consists of three tiers of abilities.

It's effect is to increase the effect of Light and Shadow powers granted by the Netherlight Crucible by 50%. These are tier 2 powers associated with the 3 socketed relics in your Artifact Weapon.
A few further details on the ring:
This legendary is
Unique-Equipped: Legion Legendary (2)
; as such, it respects the 2 legendary limit and cannot be equipped if you have two other legendaries equipped.
In contrast, the other legendary added in 7.3.2,

What are the pre-requisites to unlocking the Netherlight Crucible?
Your character must be level 110 to participate in Argus content.
You must complete the Argus storyline quests in
Krokuun
(in particular
) and
Mac'Aree
(specifically
) to unlock the Netherlight Crucible.
The above zones/questlines are available through Weeks 1 and 2 of Patch 7.3, and thus the Netherlight Crucible can only be fully unlocked starting Week 3 (September 12, 2017 onward)
Can I "respec" my relic ability trees if I change my mind?
The selections you make for Tier 2 and Tier 3 abilities in the Netherlight Crucible are PERMANENT and cannot be undone - so choose wisely!
Won't this make distributing relics in raids much more difficult, since the Netherlight Crucible traits are not known beforehand?
Not really. Relics should continue to be distributed as before - typically if the trait or item level boost is an upgrade for a person. In many cases, the item level boost alone makes it worthwhile to take a relic with a subpar trait. The traits unlocked in the Netherlight Crucible will simply provide potential for even higher value to the relic (i.e. a better second trait than was originally provided by the relic).
In addition, some relics that were previously deemed worthless and regularly disenchanted could potentially prove useful when enhanced by the Netherlight Crucible.
Do I have to unlock the Netherlight Crucible separately on each character?
The unlock for the Netherlight Crucible will be Account-Wide. This means that you will only have to complete the questline on one character if you wish, and your alts will have access to the Crucible as well.
Keep in mind that an alt has to have completed an introductory Argus quest or two to be able to access the Vindicaar, where the Crucible is housed.
Do the Netherlight Crucible bonuses work in PvP?
Only the Tier 1 bonus (the item level increase) will work in PvP. The Tier 2 and Tier 3 abilities will be disabled in instanced PvP.
Will the Netherlight Crucible work on relics acquired before Patch 7.3?
Yes. It is possible to hold on to relics rather than throw them away and see what traits they will roll once the Netherlight Crucible is unlocked.
This includes the relics you already have socketed in your weapon – the Crucible will work for those too.
Can I unlock all the traits on a single relic, similar to my Artifact Weapon?
No. You can only ever choose ONE trait per tier.
What happens if I have the same tier 2 trait on multiple relics?
When you have the same tier 2 trait on more than one relic, it increases the strength of the proc/bonus. The length of the proc and proc rate remain the same.
For example, selecting
on two relics would increase the absorb shield to 600,000 (instead of 300,000), or selecting
on all three socketed relics would increase Avoidance and Mastery by 1,500 (instead of 500).
In the following video, from a
perspective, you can see various relics being attuned to the Artifact Weapon in Retribution specialization; each relic generates a different set of Tier 2 and Tier 3 traits.
For those who like to min/max, you can simulate various relic and trait combinatons using the
Raidbots Relic Simbot
. This uses SimulationCraft algorithms.
Please note that it is early into the availability of the Netherlight Crucible and the results may be subject to errors!

(1) Patch 7.3 Live Q & A with Ion Hazzikostas (
Text, Video
)
Q: Is the Netherlight Crucible supposed to be fully RNG on Tier 2 and Tier 3?
A: The artifact traits in your weapon have always been a steady form of progression. However, the relics you slot in your weapon is subject to RNG -- the loot might not drop or other factors.
Well what's a problem with relics? Relics point to a specific index and for each spec that can use that relic, that specific index will map to a specific trait. If a holy relic is a bad trait for one spec and they wanted to change it, that would change the relic for all the other specs that could use it, because of the way the index works.
They wanted to fix that with a system that gave relics a random second trait in 7.2, but it was pulled at the last second. This was supposed to help classes that were searching for specific relics but was determined to be too random. The Netherlight Crucible is slightly different; while it has some randomness, players will not be able to choose their worst trait because they simply won't pick it.
Q: Why is the Netherlight Crucible good, but Reforging bad?
A: Reforging wasn't great because of hit and expertise management -- e.g. when you got a ring and had to reforge 10 other items because of it. They don't think it was an interesting system, since if an item didn't have your best two stats, you simply just reforged to your best stats. In some cases, it was hard to evaluate upgrades as well.
Q: How much of the new Artifact Power will work in 7.3 PvP?
A: The first trait from the Netherlight Crucible, Netherlight Fortification, on each relic will work in PvP, but that only equates to a fraction of a percent upgrade since it applies before the scaling. The remaining traits will not work in rated PvP.
(2) Blizzard Blue Post - August 5, 2017
Blizzard
Hey guys!
So, after yesterday's Q&A, it's become apparent that there's still some confusion about the Netherlight Crucible and how it works. We've been keeping an eye on your discussions about the topic, and wanted to give some explanations where we can, as well as open up a thread for any additional questions you may have.
Q: How do the Relic "talents" unlock?
A: As your Artifact increases in level (by spending Artifact Power), your Relic slots will level up as well. When you first unlock the Crucible, you'll have access to the first additional trait (a +5 increase to your Artifact's item level) in each slot. The second row unlocks at Artifact level 60, 63, and 66 (for the left, center, and right Relic slots respectively), and the third and final row unlocks at Artifact level 69, 72, and 75. This should all be pretty apparent when you look at those slots in-game, but may not be showing clearly via datamined info.
Q: What did you mean by "it can't double roll a trait"?
A: Just that you will never be able to upgrade a Relic to increase the same Artifact trait twice. If your Relic already has a bonus rank of Wrath of the Ashbringer on it, that trait will not be one of the three options presented in the bottom row of the Crucible's upgrade tree.
In other words, there's no risk of having your Wrath of the Ashbringer relic be "ruined" by not rolling a second bonus to Wrath of the Ashbringer, because that could never have happened in the first place. However, if you get a relic without Wrath of the Ashbringer, there's now a chance that it'll gain it from the Crucible.
Additionally, those three options will always be unique; it won't, for example, give you the "choice" between Deflection, Deflection, or Deflection. Aside from making sure you always have options, this means that your odds of having your favorite trait appear on a Relic you'd otherwise have discarded are actually pretty decent.
Q: How do the ranks for the first two rows work?
A: There are no such ranks. We think this is coming from some confusion about how the Netherlight Crucible is showing up in datamining, versus how it actually operates in-game. Once you've unlocked a row in the Crucible, you just select the option you like, and that's it - there's no additional leveling up of those options beyond that.
For those peeking into the data (or anyone else who might be curious): this is because of how we built the system to allow the unlockable effects to stack between each relic. It's just a subtle behind-the-scenes optimization on our end.
Hopefully that will help clear the air about how the Netherlight Crucible works, but we're sure you have more questions, so ask away and we'll do our best to answer what we can! We'll aim to provide an update sometime next week. Thanks!
TLDR:
Before the patch, if you get a relic that doesn't have the trait you want, you throw it away.
After the patch, if you get a relic that doesn't have the trait you want, you can plug it into the Netherlight Crucible and maybe get it anyway.
That's about all there is to it!
(3) Blizzard Blue Post - August 11, 2017
Blizzard
Okay, here's a first pass at some answers. Thanks for all the discussion so far.
Q: Why are you adding this system? What’s with the RNG?
A: The Netherlight Crucible (aside from being an important part of the 7.3 storyline) is intended to help with an issue with Relic availability that players have been reporting for some time now. As Ion explained during our last Q&A, there are technical issues with the way Relics were built that limit which bonus traits can be available from raids. This has caused a number of raiders to feel as though their best bet is to run Mythic Keystone dungeons constantly in the hopes of having a Relic with their ideal bonus trait drop (and Titanforge for a high item level).
Those who were following development of Patch 7.2 may recall an earlier take on an improvement for this issue, where we experimented with adding a single, randomized second bonus trait to Relics. Ultimately, we decided that was the wrong approach, and wanted a system that put a little more control in players’ hands. So, while the Netherlight Crucible does still have an element of randomness, it presents you with several options to choose from.
To be clear: we believe that having some element of randomness is important. Our goal was not to simply allow players to choose the precise bonus traits they wanted (you already do that, more or less, when spending Artifact Power). We still want there to be those exciting moments where a Relic gives you a great outcome. The Netherlight Crucible is intended to make Relics more valuable on average, not to make all Relics be equal value.
Q: Will I be able to trade Relics with other players to see who gets the best options at the Crucible?
A: No. Previewing a Relic at the Netherlight Crucible will bind it to your character and remove the ability to trade it. This is because those trait options don’t actually exist on the Relic until you attune it to the Crucible, in a process similar to enchanting a piece of gear. It also prevents raid teams from feeling like they need to send everyone who might be interested in a Relic back to the Vindicaar before continuing.
Q: Will the Netherlight Crucible work on Relics acquired prior to 7.3 release?
A: Yes. However, keep in mind that it will take some time (likely several weeks) to unlock the later stages of the Netherlight Crucible, where the additional bonus traits come in. We don’t expect that stockpiling Relics prior to 7.3 will give any real advantage in practice.
Q: Doesn’t this just mean I’ll want my best two traits on each Relic now?
A: For the hardcore min/maxer, yes, there will still be a “best” outcome for your Relic configuration. However, there are now more Relics that can achieve that state (as Relics with your second-best trait can now roll your best trait at the Crucible), and you’ll encounter fewer “bad” Relics along the way.
Q: Why do I have to go back to the Netherlight Crucible to upgrade my Relic? Didn’t you want to get away from mechanics like that?
A: Players often compare this to the old Reforging system, and our dislike of having to visit a vendor after each and every upgrade. That hasn’t changed. The Netherlight Crucible only affects Relics – you won’t need to visit the Crucible every time you pick up a new pair of boots.
Hotfixes:
(1) Netherlight Crucible Tuning, September 12, 2017
Blizzard
We’ve made a final tuning pass on the Netherlight Crucible to ensure that its powers behave more like the trinkets that you know and love.
In general, these changes are intended to bring the value of the various powers closer together, and ensure they’re desirable choices for players. We’ve loosened the restrictions these powers had on the PTR, so effects that previously did not take your character’s modifiers into account are now improved by things like Haste and Critical Strike, and relevant buffs or debuffs that are part of your class. We also updated numerical tuning to take those changes into account.
Tuning Changes:
Master of Shadows – Value reduced to 500.
Murderous Intent – Value reduced to 1500.
Dark Sorrows – Proc rate increased by Haste.
Torment the Weak – Value reduced to 80,000. Damage over Time effect now increased by haste and can crit.
Chaotic Darkness – Proc rate increased by Haste.
Shadowbind – Value increased to 200,000. Proc rate increased by haste.
Light Speed – Value reduced to 500.
Shocklight – Value reduced to 1500.
Secure in the Light – Value increased to 135,000. Proc rate increased by haste.
Infusion of Light - Value reduced to 101,000. Proc rate increased by haste.
Light's Embrace – Value increased to 45,500. Proc rate increased by haste.
Refractive Shell – Value increased to 300,000. Proc rate increased by haste.
The above all differ from what you may have seen on the PTR, and we appreciate the time and effort that testers put into providing the feedback we received.

Artifact Knowledge will serve as a way to accelerate Artifact Power gains over time.
Increasing Artifact Knowledge only becomes an option at level 110. As of Patch 7.3, reaching 110 will instantly put you at Artifact Knowledge Level 41.
If you level a character to 110 currently, it will instantly hit whatever Artifact Knowledge level all other characters have (e.g. if all other 110s are at Artifact Knowledge level 45, all newly created characters instantly get upgraded to this level).
This also has a lore component; unlocking Artifact Knowledge will yield tomes with more information about your artifact.
As of Patch 7.3, there are no longer Work Orders for Artifact Knowledge. Every Level 110 Character will passively get 1 Artifact Knowledge Level every week, starting at 41, maxing out at Artifact Knowledge Level 55.
The Artifact Knowledge cap of 55 will be reached on the week of December 5, 2017 (barring any unforeseen delays).
Each level of Artifact Knowledge increases the amount of Artifact Power you can accrue from number of different sources.
Artifact Knowledge WILL NOT boost the Artifact Power granted by any items in your inventory that were obtained BEFORE you reached a certain Artifact Knowledge level.
For the above reasons, it is not worthwhile to stockpile Artifact Power items, hoping to use them after you level Artifact Knowledge.
Artifact Knowledge will increase the amount of Artifact Power that you get from an item that you receive after reaching that level of Artifact Knowledge; in essence, Artifact Power items
will be more powerful
based on your Artifact Knowledge level.

Artifact Knowledge Catch-Up
Patch 7.1.5 has added ways for new players and alts to catch-up with Artifact Knowledge. These are outlined below.
New players can quickly reach Artifact Knowledge Level 15 via the repeatable quest
. This requires you to turn in 500
to instantly obtain 1
. This can be done over and over without requiring any research time.
Beyond Artifact Knowledge Level 15, this quest will not grant you any further
.
If you have a character with high Artifact Knowledge, you can send compendiums to your alts to instantly boost them to set Artifact Knowledge levels. This is faster and cheaper than obtaining individual
.
The compendiums can be purchased in your Order Hall for 1000
. They are account-bound, and can thus be mailed to alts.
: Instant boost to Artifact Knowledge 5. Requires AK 10 to purchase.
: Instant boost to Artifact Knowledge 10. Requires AK 15 to purchase
: Instant boost to Artifact Knowledge 15. Requires AK 20 to purchase
: Instant boost to Artifact Knowledge 20. Requires AK 25 to purchase
: Instant boost to Artifact Knowledge 25. Requires AK 30 to purchase
: Instant boost to Artifact Knowledge 30. Requires AK 35 to purchase
: Instant boost to Artifact Knowledge 40. Requires AK 40 to purchase
You do not need to purchase the lower-tier compendiums to "unlock" the higher tier ones. As your Artifact Knowledge improves, better-quality compendiums will be available to purchase.
Your alts need to be level 110 in order to benefit from Artifact Knowledge catch-up mechanisms.
Note that once you hit the Artifact Knowledge cap (Level 40) you can increase all of your 110 alts instantly to the cap via
.

At Legion launch, each artifact has five distinctive styles available (a sixth not implementedat launch), and each style comes in four tints. There are different ways to unlock each appearance and tint.
Once a new appearance or tint is unlocked, it is available to be used at the Artifact Forge in your Class Order Hall.
Check out the
Wowhead Artifact Weapon Calculator
to see each skin in 3D.
Further Notes:
Other weapon appearances can be transmogged over your artifact weapon. This follows all pre-existing rules with regards to weapon types, etc.
Certain weapon appearances change the type of a weapon (e.g. the Titan's Reach Hidden Artifact appearance for
changes it from a Gun to a Bow)
At launch, there will be 5 skins:
Classic Skin
: Order Hall related quests
Upgraded Skin
: Order Hall, Artifact, and Archaeology activities
Valorous Skin
: PvE-related progression
War-Torn Skin
: PvP-related progression (Prestige)
Hidden Skin
: Acquisition will vary by spec
The
“Challenge Weapon Appearance”
for each specialization is an additional skin that can be obtained for each specialization as of 7.2. See the section below for more information.
You MUST unlock an appearance (i.e. the “Main Tint”) before you can unlock the various other colour tints for that appearance (Source: Legion Developer Q & A,
Video
)
For example, for the Valorous appearance, you must complete the “Balance of Power” questline to unlock the main tint before other tints will be obtainable. Getting the achievement
will not provide you a new tint/appearance until you have completed “Balance of Power”.
All skins and appearances that you unlock are unlocked for ALL specs on your toon. However, unlocking a skin or appearance on one character will not unlock it account-wide – you must separately unlock it on other characters.
The exception to this rule is for
, which is an Account-wide achievement, and thus unlocks this tint for ALL characters on your account. Of course, as mentioned above, this tint will not be available until you unlock the Upgraded appearance first (Class Order Hall Campaign)

We asked Art Director Chris Robinson several questions about artifact weapons.
.
Can you tell us about Artifact design? Style, variations, colors?
Similar to Order Halls, we wanted to hit the tone for the class and spec. A few were easy because they were established, but the new ones were more difficult since they weren't established. We had to come up with something that felt lore-comparable and helped answer the questions: what is the core class fantasy? What weapon feels like what you want your character to feel like? I play a rogue, so I used a lot of personal experience to get the feeling of what a rogue would want to pick up in their hand to use. Then with spec differentiation in the weapons we went on with further honing into that class fantasy.
What was it like to create a weapon from scratch when there's some well-known artifacts like Doomhammer and Ashbringer?
We start with a base artifact level, i.e. Ashbringer - this is what the player expectation is for an epic level artifact weapon. Using that as a reference, all weapons should feel comparable next to each other. The problem with that is there is no established lore for the new ones, which makes them harder to identify with. So the new weapons had to look above and beyond to feel equal to Ashbringer. The base visual levels for the new weapons were a bit more complicated than the established weapons to make them feel equally epic.
Another difficulty was Shaman. Doomhammer was difficult because it didn't feel right seeing two Doomhammers (as dual wield). A solution was to make one a magical magma hunter to avoid breaking fantasy and make it seem like we're just giving Doomhammers away.
We know classes are going to feel unique with artifacts - how well have you accomplished this and making each spec feel unique visually?
We are trying to make this a balance and it will always develop along with characters - artifacts being there early on took us into a more streamlined weapon design process. There are usually 550-750+ weapons, this time 240....so we had more time to make them more epic.
As we worked on armor sets, we used visual decisions from artifacts to layer them on top of armor sets. There are not spec-specific armor sets but we looked at all the artifacts from one class to utilize visual elements on armor. Provides a more cohesive vision.
With regards to Hidden Appearances, some of the acquisition sources for these are listed in the tabs below.
For weapon appearances that are drops,
current spec or loot specialization doesn’t matter
when farming these (i.e. a Protection
appearance item can drop while your loot specialization is Retribution).
Most
Hidden Artifact Appearance items that are rare drops have bad luck protection implemented (as of Patch 7.1.5)
This means each time that the item does not drop for you, your chances of obtaining it go up progressively.
When unlocking tints for your Hidden Appearance, as of Patch 7.3 you can use ANY Artifact Appearance and ANY spec to work towards the requirements.
Note that as of Patch 7.1.5, bad luck protection has been implemented for most hidden weapon appearance items that are drops
This means that every time you do not get the drop needed, your chances for obtaining it will go up progressively.
For artifact appearance items/components that are drops from bosses, the following rules apply depending on the source.
World Bosses
These appearances are 100% guaranteed drops for any player of the appropriate class,
regardless of their spec or loot specialization
.
Unlike standard loot from World Bosses that appears in your bags, these appearances must be manually looted from the corpse of the boss.
Raid Bosses
These appearances are
not
guaranteed drops.
The item has a chance to drop if there are ANY members of the raid who are the appropriate
class
,
regardless of their spec or loot specialization
.
These items drop on LFR, Normal, Heroic or Mythic difficulties.
If the loot setting is Master Loot, the item acts like any other loot drop – the Master Looter determines who to assign the item to.
If the loot setting is Personal Loot, they have a chance to be looted from the boss like any other gear and can drop for ANY spec of the appropriate class.
Regardless of loot settings, (Master Loot or Personal Loot) these items can be traded to other members of the raid for up to 2 hours after it is obtained.
Dungeon Bosses
These appearances/components are
not
guaranteed drops.
The item has a chance to drop if there are ANY members of the party who are the appropriate
class
,
regardless of their spec or loot specialization
.
These items drop in Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+ difficulties.
If it drops, the item can be traded to another member in your party of the appropriate spec.
The specialization specific Challenge appearances are available via a scenario.
Obtaining this appearance requires a solo specialization challenge scenario.
These challenges are quite difficult, requiring mastery of your spec and abilities. If someone is sporting this appearance, you know they are a good player.
Each scenario involves defeating a boss/minions or protecting NPCs, depending on spec.
Attempting the solo challenge requires that you first Empower You weapon for the new 7.2 traits, and also requires that the
Mage Tower
Broken Shore building is active.
While the Mage Tower is active, the first attempt of the scenario each day is free. All subsequent attempts the same day cost 100
s each.
Once the scenario has been defeated, you cannot attempt it again on that character/specialization.
As of Patch 7.3, once you have unlocked the base Challenge Appearance, you can unlock the other tints using ANY Artifact Appearance and ANY spec.
Below is a chart with strategy guides for the Challenge Scenario for each spec, provided by Wowhead writers.

After you return to

).
The completion of this quest is in spoiler tags, for those who want to figure it out and complete it themselves. I've listed what happens next, as well as tips for completing this quest.
Khadgar
opens up a portal to the Exodar, and taking it starts the scenario "In Defense of the Exodar". As with any scenario, you can right-click your portrait and "Leave Instance Group" (even if you are solo) to leave and start again.
Step 1 is to find the Prophet Velen in the Vault of the Lights. Just make your way to the area marked on the map, killing demons on the way. If you happen to aggro a bunch, just kite them to Velen, as they will be incinerated by the dome of light surrounding him.
Step 2 involves A) Rescuing 12 Terrified Exodar Citizens and B) Destroying 8 Fel Portals.
All of the portals are marked on the map, and there are many more portals than you will need scattered through the Exodar.
When doing this step, its best to skirt your way around edges of the rooms. If you stand in the middle of pathways, the stream of demons running towards Velen can easily aggro and overwhelm you! Find corners and alcoves that avoid the steady stream of mobs that spawn.
Beware of patrols, as there are groups of demons all over the place and its easy to get overrun.
s are typically around the edges of rooms, corners, behind structures/boxes, in covered rooms, etc.
Some are children, so are smaller and easy to miss
They are marked on your minimap, so this a great way to track them down
Extra (Optional) Stuff:
BONUS QUEST
: There is an extra quest available from
at 44.8, 9.4 in the Crystal Hall. This grants some gear and XP; it involves surviving 3 waves of demons, then killing
after these waves. As a DPS class doing this, it was quite a challenge! Mobs spawn frequently, and you must rely on the NPCs to help (i.e. stay near them).
will also heal you.
When you are to face
, I would suggest saving all of your DPS cooldowns (or healing, for that matter) for this encounter. The NPCs tank him, so dying is not a concern; rather, if this takes to long, Nobundo will bite the dust and this quest will fail!
If you want to complete this optional quest, you
MUST
pick it up before completing the Step 2 objectives (Portals and Terrified Citizens) or else it will not be available!
There is an (optional) bonus objective active during the scenario (you'll see the objective progress bar). Completing it by killing demons will net you some gold and experience.
A rare spawn NPC (
) was found at in the Trader's Tier. He is surrounded by Felhounds, which can be killed in smaller groups to avoid being overwhelmed.
He drops
and
Step 3 is to return to Velen, and allow him to examine the
Step 4 is to escort Velen to the Seat of the Naaru
Step 5 involves defeating
. There is a very interesting reveal that occurs through this - I won't say what it is though!
Other commenters stated that you can tag
and let the NPCs kill him, but
doesn't
appear to work anymore - you have to fight him yourself. That being said, it seems they may have made this encounter more manageable, as the NPCs do help, and will heal you.
After this, simply use
to return to Dalaran.
After completing
, you receive
, which has you return
to your Order Hall. At this point you unlock one of the tints for your Classic Artifact weapon skin (part of the criteria for
).

Once you have that, you'll notice the gem has "C.T." engraved on it. This stands for "
" If you go into the Felsoul Hold crater area in
, there's a path visible on the map that runs west. Go up the incline and double-jump/glide along the rocks to get to the top of the cliffside. Follow it around to a large tree and you'll find
, a Blood Elf Demon Hunter. She's by a large tree, some bird/porcupine mobs just before her.
If you show her the charm, her immediate reaction is to assume you're a thief and kick you off the side of the cliff - ya know, as you do. Her kick will send you straight at
, a large felbat with around 10 million health. You may've noticed him floating around in the general questing area. There's "violent winds" around him which will keep you aloft. You basically can "swim" in the spiral around him, but can't go too high or low or else you will drop out of the area and will reset (you can go to
Candrael
to continue attempting it). After damaging him for a little bit,

From my attempts (took around 5-10 to realize this was a DH only encounter and I had to be creative) it seems like you need to cancel
once you get back to his winds or it'll be buggy and let you fall right through. He'll fling you around again randomly even when you get back into his "bubble" of wind.
Kill him and you get the . The good news is, it's cool. The bad news is, the graphic is bugged at the moment. I have a few 20 yard long polygons jutting out of me at the moment. Can't post any pictures.

(
Order Hall), you have the chance to get a “screech” emote. Some days you will not get the emote, in which case check back the following day.
The emote will be one of the following, directing you to a portal in the Order Hall:
“You hear a strange feral screech coming from the Hinterlands portal.”
“You hear a strange feral screech coming from the Duskwood portal.”
“You hear a strange feral screech coming from the Feralas portal.”
Once you have received an emote, go through the appropriate portal, and you need to find an owlcat stone and click it.
This process must be repeated each day until you have touched stones from all 3 portals.
After the 3rd stone has been touched,

. Thus far, it appears it that you must collect 12 tomes from around the world and combine them to obtain
, the precursor to the hidden appearance.
TIP #1
: For some of the locations below (i.e. in the Eastern Kingdoms) you can use the portals in
, in the Chamber of the Guardian (port in the middle of
) to get there quickly! This is noted below as well.
TIP #2
: If you have a friend who is an Outlaw
who is willing to tag along, their
will mark these tomes on the minimap.
Starting the hunt
Once you reach Artifact Knowledge Level 4, speak to
and state that you are interested to get the first tome. Only after this step is completed can you start searching for the other volumes!
There is a hidden weekly reset on some of the flag quests for these tomes. This means that if you do not search out all of the tomes within a singly weekly reset period, you may end up not getting credit for looting a tome (even though it may be in your bags!) and you can’t complete
.
If you want to check all tomes to see if you have been credited with looting them, see the scripts at the end of this post.
The compiled list of locations for these tomes is below:
Dalaran/Class Order Hall

After killing
, head down the ramp until you enter the Guardian’s Library. Instead of taking the ramp here to the left, jump off to the right and head into the side alcove that is immediately there. In the alcove, there will be 3 bookshelves at the very end (far wall) of the alcove, with a purple book tapestry (wall hanging) above them. On the bottom shelf of the leftmost bookshelf is the volume (
See map
).
In-game Scripts
The following in-game scripts can be copied and pasted into chat. If a script returns “True”, you have credit for that tome – if “False”, you do not have credit for whatever reason (even though you may have that tome in your bags). To fix this, simply delete the tomes that are not granting credit from your bags, then go and re-loot them from the appropriate location.
If all else fails, you can restart the hunt by speaking to
again.

There are a number of mini-bosses that spawn randomly in the Underbelly. Some of these need to be tanked, but others don't hit hard at all and don't need to be. The bosses spawn fairly frequently, and at peak times there can be sometimes more than one active (and they can spawn back-to-back) –
but they only spawn when the guards are at their post (i.e. free-for-all PvP is not active)
. These bosses can be engaged even when a hired bodyguard is active.
Some of these mini-bosses are:
- A fire mage; health scales.
- A rogue-like NPC; about 15.5 million health at baseline, health scales
