Arcane Mage Rotations in Dragonflight
There are a number of qualifiers that will change our rotation based on talent setups and tier sets. I will discuss only the most practical to use below but this is all subject to a lot of change as theorycrafting evolves on the subject. For the sake of function I will only be supporting the top builds here, if you require additional resources you can find me as well as other helpful resources in the Altered-Time discord.

Arcane Mage Opener/Cooldowns
The burst sections of the rotation are entirely based around maximizing cooldown stacking as much as possible and maximizing damage done during those cooldowns. Without T30 we will burn off some mana during siphon storm, then enter surge and touch at the end of spark to maximize damage done in those windows. With T30 due to arcane overload, we send our surge and touch a lot sooner to maximize our time with surge or overload stacked with siphon storm. Most of what we do is about optimizing our siphon storm windows.

Understandably, this is a lot. That is why I've broken things down into Prepull Preparation, the Pull, Big Burn, Miniburn Sequences and the Touch & Filler Priority. Please take advantage of this and learn each segment of the rotation as I believe the whole makes a lot more sense once you understand the parts with Arcane's current rotation. Big Burn and the subsequent Touch window accounts for a huge amount of your damage, focus on them and you will be a force to reckon with.
Presence of Mind

is used in the Burn Phase or Mini-burn, but not at the start like other cooldowns. Instead you should use it just before

"Burn and Conserve" Phases
Historically Arcane has had two phases to it's rotation, burn and conserve. Burn describes the above which is essentially burning mana without regard and putting as much damage as you can into your cooldown window, likewise conserve was holding onto your mana so that you could burn properly. However, the underlying mechanics behind burn and conserve are mostly now a function of cooldown windows and not as much about mana strictly. There are still two phases of Arcane's rotation, however they are less related to mana and mana spend than they are to cooldown windows, specifically around

Advanced Arcane Mage Tips
Cooldown use
The Arcane Mage rotation in Dragonflight is all about periodically stacking cooldowns to deal heavy damage.
Current mechanics in our toolkit have us always using

, which has a 30-second cooldown. Every other time we do this we'll include both

can 'clip' ticks of the spell, cancelling projectiles and, depending on tuning costing you damage. There are three ways to avoid this: using a nochannel macro, addons, or simply just trying to manually not queue a spell but also not have a large gap. It's important to note that currently with T31, I would recommend just manually not clipping your buffed
奥术飞弹
cast and clipping for a small dps gain on the unbuffed ones.
A macro would look like this:
/cast <spell name here>
However, nochanneling macros produce a small amount of input lag, delaying your next spell cast, so there's little net gain. A better option is a castbar addon like
Quartz
, which displays ticks on channeled spells, so you know when it's okay to start casting your next ability.
It is worth adding to this, that clipping
奥术飞弹
with a
节能施法
buffed version of itself can result in extra ticks of
奥术飞弹
, this is due to how haste affects the calculation for how many missiles the spell should fire per cast. Due to this, it is always recommended that if you are using
奥术飞弹
and have a
节能施法
proc available, you refresh the cast before it ends to exploit this interaction.

There is an error in the advanced rotation notes. You are advising to cast rune after reaching 4 charges at 0:00, then touch at 0:15. 30 seconds later, at 0:45, it is stated that touch is ready again- this is not the case. The cooldown is 45s and it will have been 30s since you last used it.
I think what you meant to put here is that at 0:45 rune of power would be ready, at which point you should hold rune for 15 seconds waiting for touch to come off cd.
It may also be worth noting that you can save time generating 4 Arcane Charges by using an Arcane Orb at the start, and touching on Arcane Missile spam with Arcane Echo talented may not be a bad idea.

In your cooldown use section, you use arcane power 1min45 s after it was first used when the cd is 2minutes, your mana will never go down in aoe situation so there is no conserve phase there fyi, you do not talk about using mana gem in the opener or how the mastery/haste balance highly impacts the conserve and burn phase.
This guide is either not up to date or written by someone that does not play arcane. I think you should just remove this page, it is only confusing for new players and irritating for people that know the spec and simply want to get better at it.

If this is the case, then I would suggest including this condition in the

step(s) of the priority sequence or rotation, as even if the spell often comes after

, for example, and it is self-evident, obvious, or assumed in such cases that it will be used with 4 Arcane Charges, the spells may not always line up that way — at least I'm not experienced enough to tell that they'd consistently line up. Thus, if we should always hit 4 Arcane Charges before popping

for that, then, in my opinion, this should be emphasized.

Thanks for writing the guide. There are a couple of things about radiant spark that I do not understand.
1. The dot lasts for 10 sec. Do you have to cast the spells for the progressive damage buff within those 10 sec? For instance if it takes my 12 sec to cast 4 blasts due to movement is that fine, or do I lose out on the last one?
2. I think the damage buff starts at 10% and grows to 50% after the 4th spell?
3. The tooltip seems to say damage buff ends after the 4th spell, but the guide says to do a 5th blast/barrage. Does the 5th still have the big buff?
From watching the video, it seems that the buff builds as you cast spells and ends after the 5th spell, or 10 sec which ever comes first. Is that correct?

I'm a bit unsure about how exactly the 4 vs 5 AB casts with Harmonic Echo works, so I want to share my understanding of the mechanics and see if it tracks.
Normally we can queue the big Barr with the 5th AB, because since they both "release" simultaneously, they both benefit from the final stack of Radiant Spark. This lets us get a sort of 2 for 1 with the final charge, increasing damage in single target.
The Harmonic Echo effect causes a 25% aoe echo to spells that LAND while the debuff is active, so if we cast the 5th AB with a queued Barr, they will still both benefit from the Radiant Spark damage increase, but only the 5th AB will cause the echo, since the debuff is gone by the time the Barr lands. Because of this, in multi-target situations we want to sacrifice the extra AB cast to cause the Barr to activate the final echo, which results in higher aoe damage because the Barr hits much harder than the extra AB.
Is this a correct interpretation of the mechanics? If so, I have two follow-up questions:
1) Is the 0.1 second delay from 4th AB to Barr just to ensure the big Barr isn't queued with the 4th AB, which would cause it to only benefit from the 2nd strongest Radiant Spark buff?
2) I'm assuming the math works out such that (5th AB + echo of 5th AB) > (echo of big Barr) in single target, but (5th AB + aoe echo of 5th AB) < (aoe echo of big Barr) in multi-target, which results in still using the 5th AB in single target only?

Scratching my head over recommending that you spam AM to 20 stacks of Arcane Harmony in the opener yet not taking Improved Arcane Missiles. I'm sure the math must bear you out on that for you to recommend that but it seems really counter intuitive.

What's the point of the convoluted "/castsequence reset=10 Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi" macro? Why not just cast Touch before barrage? It's off the GCD so you can cast them simultaneously without the risk of having barrage land before touch applies, at the cost of losing minimal touch duration.

Is it possible to provide a casual rotation with associated talent tree with like 4 to 5 spells? I'm sorry but this rotation, only 1% of the player base will try to do that so it's useless for everyone else.

This needs a Simplified version.
I don't doubt that this is the mathematical optimum and that some players can pull it off but for most players, this is realistically unattainable, especially as an entrypoint.
Something like Surge -> Spark+Touch+Gem -> Burn -> preserve when CD's run out -> Burn leading up to Spark and Touch coming off CD -> Evocation -> Spark+Touch+Gem -> Burn -> preserve ->repeat can be done by most players with decent results and can teach you the funcamental class mechanics. The fully optimized rotation is something you can get into once you have a more profound understanding of the Class itself and the mechanics that prop it up.
