This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the Aggramar encounter on Normal Difficulty in Antorus, the Burning Throne. Changes to the fight for Looking for Raid and Heroic difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties. Aggramar is a three phase encounter in which the raid will be battling Aggramar directly in each phase. Each phase is separated by an intermission where the raid need to deal with powerful elemental adds that are trying to annihilate the raid. Excellent positioning and planning is needed to defeat this titan of destruction!
Aggramar is the tenth boss in Antorus, the Burning Throne; available November 28th on Normal / Heroic difficulty and January 16 on LFR. Aggramar is available after defeating both the
Coven of Shivarra
and
Varimathras
.

Overview
– Over the course of the encounter Aggramar passively generates energy. Upon reaching 100 Energy, his sword, Taeshalach, unleashes fiery energy and he begins
, a devastating combo attack, alternating between
and
, ending with a

Upon reaching 80% and 40% Aggramar activates his
, preventing all damage and the elemental forces within Taeshalach are unleashed. Several smaller Embers of Taeshalach erupt from the blade along with two Flames of Taeshalach. The Embers slowy move towards Aggramar causing a
. Killing both Flames of Taeshalach causes Aggramar to resume his attacks.
Tanks

Aggramar's Abilities
泰沙拉克剑技
Aggramar has an energy bar that passively fills over time. Each time he reaches 100% energy he will start his
泰沙拉克剑技
. This is a series of five devastating spells that he will always cast in the same sequence.
破敌者
should hit only a single tank (A). The raid and offtank (B) should stack behind the boss.
The off-tank (B) next should taunt the boss to face him towards the raid for
烈焰撕裂
.
Tanks then must swap locations for the next
破敌者
.
The first tank (A) then must taunt for the last
烈焰撕裂
.
Everyone must run from the boss when
灼热风暴
is cast.
He starts off by casting
破敌者
.
This is a frontal cleave that deals a large amount of physical damage and applies a debuff which increases the damage you take from
破敌者
by 500% for 30 seconds.
One tank should face the boss away from the raid and take this hit whilst using a large damage reduction.
Aggramar will cast
烈焰撕裂
next.
This is another frontal cone, however this damage is shared between all players hit whilst knocking you back.
If you have the entire raid stacked behind the boss, the tank can flip the boss around and allow the raid to split all the damage.
Its important that the majority of your raid is hit, otherwise the boss will gain a permanent 50% stacking damage increase called
燃烧之怒
. This stops any immune cheesing shenanigans.
After this, Aggramar will cast another
破敌者
The other tank needs to take the hit this time, as the first tank would be one shot due to the damage increase debuff they received from the first
破敌者
.
Then Aggramar will cast another
烈焰撕裂
.
The raid needs to make sure they are back at the boss in time to make sure they can help split the damage.
Finally there is a
灼热风暴
cast.
This creates a large zone around Aggramar which will explode at the end of the cast, dealing a large amount of damage and disorienting anyone who is hit by the explosion for 5 seconds.
All players need to ensure they are not hit by this. Use the knock back from the
烈焰撕裂
to help generate a bit of distance from the boss, as this will make it easier to move out of the
灼热风暴
.
After the
灼热风暴
cast, the fight will return to normal. Aggramar's energy will reset to 0% and start slowly regenerating again.
Phase One: Wrath of Aggramar - 100% to 80%
Remain spread by 4 yards to prevent
灼热之焰
hitting multiple targets.
All of Aggramar's melee attacks are empowered by
泰沙拉克之触
.
This causes each melee attack to apply a stacking debuff on the tank which increases physical damage taken by 5% for 12 seconds.
Each melee swing will also strike the next closest target. If no player is within 10 yards of the primary target, the tank will be hit twice instead.
Tanks need to remain on top of one another at all times to ensure that the melee attacks are split between them.
Tanks will also need to taunt off one another to allow the physical damage taken debuff to drop, usually around 5-7 stacks.
All other players must ensure that they never stand on top of the tanks whilst Aggramar is melee attacking, as the additional melee attack may one shot some players.
Aggramar should be faced away whilst the rest of the raid stands in the rest of the encounter space behind him.
All non-tank players want to be spread by at least 4 yards because of the
灼热之焰
debuffs.
Aggramar will apply this debuff to multiple players at once.
灼热之焰
deals ticking damage to the player and anyone nearby over 1.5 seconds.
This debuff can be deadly if multiple players with
灼热之焰
stand on top of one another.
Make sure that whilst you are spread out that players do not go too far away from the raid as everyone wants to remain in range of the healers.
Healers should spot heal the players afflicted with the debuff, prioritizing any player who is accidentally taking excess damage from multiple
灼热之焰
debuffs simultaneously.
Aggramar will cause several narrow fire waves to spawn in melee when he casts
烈焰之迹
.
Moments after spawning, the fire waves will fly across the encounter area in straight lines.
Any player hit by the wave will take a large burst of damage and also receive a hard hitting 12 second dot.
As there is a delay between the waves spawning and their movement, players can easily identify which direction they are going to travel and simply move out of their way or stand between them.
烈焰之迹
will first appear in melee.
Moments later it will fire out in all directions. Dodge it!
Once Aggramar reaches 80% health, he will enter his first intermission.
Intermission One: Fires of Taeshalach
Aggramar will move to the centre of the encounter space and apply
腐蚀盾牌
to himself.
This makes Aggramar immune to damage, whilst also dealing damage and knocking back any player who stands within his
腐蚀盾牌
shield.
Players want to ensure that they do not stand in the centre of the room as Aggramar transitions to make sure they don't get hit by the
腐蚀盾牌
.
As soon as the
腐蚀盾牌
has been applied, Aggramar will spawn two different types of adds.
Prevent Ember of Taeshalach addsfrom reaching Aggramar by either killingthem or chaining crowd control effects.
He will spawn multiple Ember of Taeshalach adds around the circumference of the room.
These adds do not need to be tanked, as all they will do is try and run towards Aggramar.
Upon reaching him they will cause a
烈焰喷薄
.
This kills the Ember of Taeshalach, dealing a burst of damage to the raid as well as applying a dot which also increases all damage taken from subsequent
烈焰喷薄
s by 100% for 15 seconds.
If multiple Ember of Taeshalach adds reach Aggramar at once, the raid will likely be instantly killed.
Players must use crowd control spells to keep them away from Aggramar as the DPS kill them off quickly.
Most crowd control spells work, including hard crowd control spells such as Banish and Frost Trap, although the duration of these effects is severely reduced.
In theory the Ember of Taeshalach adds could be chain crowd controlled, rendering them useless.
This is pointless, as the adds will trigger a
烈焰喷薄
if they are alive for 180 seconds due to
烈焰锻铸
.
All adds should be dead way before this point, as otherwise the combined damage of multiple
烈焰喷薄
s could wipe the raid.
As the Ember of Taeshalach adds spawn all around the edges of the encounter space, the raid should assign the DPS to certain areas of the room.
This will ensure that all adds are crowd controlled and killed, as if this is not done a few adds may be missed and slip through, causing a
烈焰喷薄
.
Tank positioning. Move
泰沙拉克之焰
from Ember of Taeshalach adds when necessary.
Aggramar will also spawn two
泰沙拉克之焰
adds on either side of the shield.
These adds need to be each tanked by a single tank, whilst making sure they never stand within 15 yards of one another.
This is due to their
催化作用
aura, which increases the damage done by adds by 50%.
This aura also increases the movement speed of Ember of Taeshalach adds by 100% and makes them immune to crowd control effects.
The tanks should ensure that no Ember of Taeshalach adds come within range of the
泰沙拉克之焰
adds by tanking them next to the shield.
The
泰沙拉克之焰
adds will passively deal moderate ticking damage to the raid every 3 seconds via their
狂野烈焰
.
This damage ramps up over time, eventually dealing unsustainable damage to the raid.
After DPS have killed all Ember of Taeshalach adds, they should switch and focus down a single
泰沙拉克之焰
adds to reduce the incoming raid damage by half via removing one
狂野烈焰
.
The DPS should then focus on killing off the final
泰沙拉克之焰
.
During this time, DPS should try and remain stacked up to allow healers to more efficiently heal the raid.
Healers may wish to use healing cooldowns during this time to help combat the high incoming raid damage.
Once the final
泰沙拉克之焰
add dies, Aggramar will remove his
腐蚀盾牌
and enter phase two.
Phase Two: Champion of Sargeras - 80% to 40%
Keep clear from
炙焰
zones.
Aggramar maintains use of his
泰沙拉克之触
passive as well as his
灼热之焰
and
泰沙拉克剑技
abilities from phase one, however he has lost access to his
烈焰之迹
ability.
The
烈焰之迹
ability has been replaced by
炙焰
.
Aggramar causes 3 large zones to appear underneath random ranged players in a staggered fashion.
A few seconds later, these zones will explode dealing a large burst of damage to anyone within them.
Players want to be spread out and then move from the zones as they spawn.
Players on the outskirts of the
炙焰
zones want to give the players leaving the zones room. The
灼热之焰
debuff has a nasty habit of overlapping at this point and you don't want multiple people to cleave onto one another.
Aside from the addition of
炙焰
, phase two plays out in a very similar way to phase one.
Once Aggramar reaches 40% health he will transition into his second intermission.
Intermission Two: Taeshalach's Rage
Move from
流星群涌
landing zones.
This second intermission is identical to the first intermission aside from a single additional mechanic.
Aggramar will rain down meteors onto the location of random players via
流星群涌
.
Players must side step out of these zones before the meteor lands to avoid taking a moderate burst of fire damage.
The
流星群涌
makes stacking up more difficult. Healers should be prepared to use more healing cooldowns in this intermission to help combat the incoming damage from the
狂野烈焰
.
Players should crowd control and kill the Embers of Taeshalach adds before switching to the
泰沙拉克之焰
adds.
Once the final
泰沙拉克之焰
add dies, Aggramar will once again remove his
腐蚀盾牌
and enter the next phase.
Phase Three: The Avenger - 40% to 0%
Aggramar maintains use of his
泰沙拉克之触
passive as well as his
灼热之焰
and
泰沙拉克剑技
abilities from phase one and two, however the
炙焰
ability has been modified.

works nearly identically to
炙焰
.
Aggramar will still cause 3 large zones to appear underneath random ranged players in a staggered fashion.
A few seconds later, these zones will explode dealing a large burst of damage to anyone within them.
In addition, Aggramar causes several
烈焰之迹
waves to radiate out of each marked location.
Getting hit by these
烈焰之迹
waves will deal a large amount of damage and apply a hard hitting 12 second dot.
Players will now not only just have to move from the
炙焰
s zones, but also identify where the
烈焰之迹
waves are and what direction they are going once the zone has exploded.
Role Responsibilities
Tank
Stand next to your co-tank and away from other players to ensure that the additional melee attack from
泰沙拉克之触
is split between you.
Taunt off one another when your
泰沙拉克之触
h stack expires, usually around 6-8 stacks.
Take turns at facing the boss away from the raid and use a large damage reduction for the
破敌者
attack.
Face the boss towards the raid for the
烈焰撕裂
cast.
Move out of the
灼热风暴
at the end of the
泰沙拉克剑技
.
Avoid the fire waves spawned by
烈焰之迹
.
Tank the
泰沙拉克之焰
adds 15 yards away from one another, whilst keeping them close to the Aggramar's
腐蚀盾牌
.
Dodge the meteors that land during the second intermission via
流星群涌
.
Move from any
炙焰
patches that spawn near you.
Healers
Do not stand on the tank, otherwise you may be hit by
泰沙拉克之触
.
Remain spread 4+ yards to avoid splashing damage onto other players with
灼热之焰
.
Stack up to help split the damage from the
烈焰撕裂
during the
泰沙拉克剑技
.
Move out of the
灼热风暴
at the end of the
泰沙拉克剑技
.
Avoid the fire waves spawned by

Be prepared to use healing cooldowns during the intermission to combat the ever increasing incoming

damage.
Help crowd control Ember of Taeshalach adds during the intermission.

patches that spawn, giving extra room for players that were inside to spread for the

DPS

Raid Finder Difficulty
Aside from numerical changes, in which the damage from the abilities has been severely reduced, there is a few mechanical changes made to the Aggramar encounter on Raid Finder difficulty.
The encounter now consists of two phases separated by an intermission, rather than three phases separated by two intermissions.
Phase one now ends at 60% health, rather than at 80% health.
Each phase still has the same abilities as normal mode and must be dealt with in the same manner, apart from the
泰沙拉克剑技
.
During the
泰沙拉克剑技
,
破敌者
is no longer cast.
The raid should stack up and spread the damage from
烈焰撕裂
, as well as run away from the boss when
灼热风暴
is cast.
Heroic Difficulty
Alongside numerical changes, in which the damage from the abilities has been increased, there is are several mechanical changes that have been made to the Aggramar encounter on Heroic difficulty.
Ember of Taeshalach turn to pools once killed.They reemerge 18 seconds later with full health.
The Ember of Taeshalach adds now form into a pool of
熔火残渣
when they die.
This small pool deals ticking damage to anyone who stands within it.
The pool lasts for 18 seconds. After this time the Ember of Taeshalach add will reform and begin to move towards the boss again.
The Ember of Taeshalach will only form into a pool of
熔火残渣
when they are killed by players, and therefore they will still be removed from the encounter if they die via triggering a
烈焰喷薄
.
Players must allow the adds to reach Aggramar and trigger the
烈焰喷薄
s in a staggered way from the first intermission onwards, making sure that at least 15 seconds downtime occurs between each blast to allow the
烈焰喷薄
s debuff to drop.
Players cannot just keep killing the Ember of Taeshalach adds because they will continue to gain energy through their Wrought of Flame passive.
This places a 3 minute time limit in which the raid needs to clear all Ember of Taeshalach adds. If this is not achieved then many adds will trigger
烈焰喷薄
at once, dealing lethal damage to the raid.
Allow Ember of Taeshalach adds to reachAggramar in a staggered fashion.Let the
烈焰喷薄
sdebuff drop before allowingnew Embers reach Aggramar.
During the intermission the raid should still kill off all Embers of Taeshalach to allow the Flame of Taehslach adds to be focused down.
Once the intermission is over, the Embers should be crowd controlled selectively, making sure that an Ember can frequently reach Aggramar.
Players can use knock backs and grips to help get desired Embers to Aggramar more quickly.
The tanks may wish to drag Aggramar towards the edge of the room and begin to slowly circle the room. This ensures that multiple adds will not reach him at once.
The raid wants to avoid having any
烈焰喷薄
s during high incoming damage periods, such as during a
泰沙拉克剑技
or during a wave of
灼热之焰
debuffs.
Players will now have to deal with
流星群涌
during both intermission one and two, severely reducing the ability to stack up.
Healers may wish to compensate for this by using additional healing cooldowns during both intermissions.
During the second intermission, single
烈焰之迹
waves will appear from Aggramar's
腐蚀盾牌
before cascading away from him, dealing damage and applying a nasty 12 second dot to any player caught in their path.
Players need to pay attention to these
烈焰之迹
waves at all times, as taking the additional damage can easily kill a player due to the large incoming raid wide damage already present in the intermission phases.
Mythic Difficulty
Alongside numerical changes, in which the damage from the abilities has been increased, there is a several mechanical changes that have been made to the Aggramar encounter on Mythic difficulty.

Actually 20 seconds according to the dungeon journal.

If you solo in LFR, watch out for
烈焰撕裂
. Knockback strength is distributed among party members, so if you're in there by your lonesome, it will knock your solo butt off the platform and across the room.
To avoid this, hunters can use growl and misdirection to keep pet aggro, then just stand behind the boss and DPS as normal. I use this
mouseover/focus macro from Icy Veins
instead of normal Misdirection. As of BfA, growl is disabled by default in dungeons and doesn't auto cast on bosses. So for this fight, I just stuck both abilities in my action bar and hit them on cooldown.
