The Unofficial 3.2 Proposed Frost DPS Builds/Discussion

Frost will be the one and only DW DPS and tanking (though it has yet to prove to be viable) tree, there are several unholy DW builds out there, but the dps for deep frost is just better for DW than it is for any other tree. This thread will contain just about every DW Frost DPS spec that could be contained as viable. If we can hold our opinions to something that makes sense that would be a plus. Rotations and glyphs are still being debated, but the builds are basically the same. Perma Ghould DW builds are dead please no posts on those.
Possible Glyphs
Glyph of Obliterate*
Glyph of Frost Strike*
Glyph of Icy Touch
Glyph of Blood Strike
Glyph of Disease
Glyph of Howling Blast
*Indicates mandatory to all builds.
We are waiting to see if Glyph of Disease allows Icy Talons buff to stay active if it doesn't than it's almost pointless to use.
Presence
Blood and Unholy presence seem to be equally effective and completely situational and spec based. This allows for some major versatility in Frost builds which is not available in other trees.
Weapon Speed:
Slow/Slow is the only viable dps weapons, please no posts with Slow/Fast or Fast/Fast as with the changes to BcB and the testing on PTR Slow/Slow is the beginning and ending of this conversation.
There are 3 major builds
10/54/7
- The Blood Subspec Epidemic build favored for it's extended disease rotation allowing more swings before having to reapply your diseases.
15/55+1
- Blood Subversion Subspec - seems to be right up there in terms of dps with Unholy Subspec - this build requires a tight rotation with constant contact to keep uptime going. Really tough to do in Blood Presence.
0/53/18
- Unholy Subspec with the recent changes to BcB favoring Slow/Slow builds this build may end up being the top dps spec out there.
Rotations:
No Glyph of Disease
IT/PS/OB/BS/BS/FS spam
OB/OB/OB/FS
IT/PS/OB/BS/BS -HB when rime procs and FS when KM procs.
(It is extremely tough to use HB on Rime without Glyph of Disease)
Glyph of Disease
IT/PS/OB/BS/BS/FS
OB/OB/Pest/BS/FS
OB/OB/OB/BS/FS
OB/OB/Pest/BS/FS - HB when Rime procs and FS for KM
These are the 3 most commonly tested Builds and seem to come out on top. Glyphs tend to be varied though Howling Blast Glyph is basically gone.

Updated: Glyph of Blood Strike added to the Glyph list as it's a 20 percent increase in damage to one of our main targets and is can be used on any non-boss targets, though we have yet to see if it works on bosses or not.

Just curious... what is considered slow for 1h weapons? I'm looking at 1h weapons with strength, at least a 2.0 speed and an ilevel of at least 200 and there are only 2.

2.5~2.6 would be considered slow... u use slow wep cuz its top dmg is higher.. so yeah...

EJ already looked into BcB, and its a very valuable talent, producing around 5.something% of your dmg.

BcB has been fixed to benefit DW Slow/Slow greatly, and is an even better talent now than Necrosis. 3/3 in BcB is essential for DW frost/Unholy thread. Necrosis and BcB now account for around 11 percent of your dps combined. BcB will account for around 5.6 percent which is a large portion of dps for 3 points, which is why that build is favored by EJ.
The two Glyphs that are being debated now are Glyph of Disease for simplified rotation and Glyph of BS for increased dps on snared targets. Glyph of HB is out and so is IT though IT is debatable.

It procs off each hand independently and is based now on weapons damage making slow/slow a must have. Necrosis is the only talent that could see a fast OH having a conceivable advantage. However with KM procs being PPM based now and only on your MH. Slow/Slow is the only viable dps option.

jw why isnt it possible to use the same rotation as frost 2h and use glyph of HB?
HB>OB>BS>BS FS dump. and use rime procs to keep frost fever up? or am i missing something D:
Edit: I lied. apparently blizzard wants double disease to be optimal for all trees, so HB would be a waste.

also a question is would BP be better than UP? or would rotation times be a problem?
another question is would 2x BS>1 OB, or 2 IT> 2 BS? assuming no problems in rotations?

i know this would create alot of rotation and GCD problems in BP, but how bout in UP?
as for runeforgings. i would think 2x FC > 1 FC 1 RI simply because RI requires u to be on a single target for extended periods of time to keep stacks up. however, the 2x FC does "waste" alot of the procs, as it is keeping a 95% uptime, where as FC+RI has a 75% uptime for FC. pure math calculations do show that 1 FC 1 RI > 2x FC. but i wanna see more tests in raid situations.

OB is the top hitter now outclassing FS by a large portion. However FS is still, even with the buffs and then nerf to UB/DC, a much better usage of Runic Power it's abilities are still buffed by talents and is a pretty hard hitter. At time it hits much harder than OB, but OB is just so much better now.
BP is the presence of choice, with speccing into Epidemic and the loss of IT machine gun spec there isn't a reason to go UP anymore. There is plenty of time for reapplication of diseases.
As for Runeforging FC/FC was thought to be better at first, but FC/RI is significantly better because RI is based on main hand damage so not only does it hit harder than your Offhand hit, but it stacks to 10 improving your frost damage by a large portion. The 2nd addition of FC simply reapply the existing FC and your uptime isn't that much better. Plust RI stacks quickly much quicker than what anyone anticipated, and in less than 1 minute you can have a full stack on there. Plus a full stack RI bonuses your Frost Fever/HB/IT/FS which is what you need, and another reason why DC is considered weaker than FS.
Yes there is more testing needed, but there are several very evident results already.
Slow/Slow is the only way to go. FC/RI is greater than FC/FC in just about every way, FC/CG has a chance, but is really only better in fast aoe situations, and with the discovery of internal cooldown and ppm in CG it has pushed CG out the window.
One last thing BS was nerfed once again. So Oblit is now king.
Basic Rotation will be designed around Maximizing Oblit on dual diseases, using Rime and KM's for HB or IT and FS burn when you can.

hmmm sounds like arpen would be nice for DW. sweeet.. my arpen wont be wasted~ XD 84% arpen with grim toll proc w/o talents.
